Lost Girl

The Bachelor

Staring at the photo of the two girls, Jake couldn't seem to take his eyes off of the blonde. She was throwing up a peace sign and making a silly face. Her blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders, her lips were coated with a red lipstick. She was stunning. Smiling contently with himself, he was dragged out of his admiration as Morgan unlocked the door.

"Hey man!" He chimed as Jake turned his phone off and shoved it into the pillow of the couch.
"Hey, have fun?" He asked, standing up and walking to the kitchen where Morgan set down the pizza on the counter along with two cans of pop.

Grabbing a Pepsi, Jake opened the tab and took a sip, the carbonated drink slipping down his throat. He set the can on the counter and leaned against a chair in their dining area. Morgan opened the box after throwing his keys onto the desk behind the door. He grabbed two plates, passing one to Jake, while he grabbed three slices himself. Jake never knew how someone could eat as much as Morgan, knowing he'd be back for at least thirds. He himself grabbed two slices and walked over to the couch to where Morgan seated himself, before grabbing the remote and changing to SportsNet. On the screen was some highlights from a previous game, The Penguins vs. Sabres. The two watched, as Jake broke the silence.

"So, I seen you and Ashley had some fun today." Jake said with a smirk on his face, looking over to see Morgan smile into biting a piece of pizza. Morgan swallowed the piece and set the plate down, grabbing his own can of pop.
"Guess you could say that." Morgan responded, trying to hide his grin.

Rolling his eyes, Jake laughed before continuing. "Dude, all you've been talking about lately is about how you wanted to be with Ashley. Now you have and you're playing it off like it was just watching curling or some shit." He elbowed Morgan then, who then sighed softly before sitting back on the couch.

"I really like her, man. She's different, I always go for the girl who is the typical hook up. Obvious died hair, fake tan, fake everything actually. Ashley, Ashley's cool." He told Jake, who then looked at him with a puzzled look.
"What are you twelve? What do you mean she's cool?" He asked as Morgan scoffed and continued.
"She's just different. A good different, she's quirky yet sophisticated." He said as Jake whistled.
"Mo's found a catch finally, eh?" He laughed as Morgan looked at Jake with a blush coming through to his cheeks.

He sat up and looked at Jake, shaking his head. "Yeah, and what about you man? What's up with Shannon? I thought you were into her?" He asked as Jake bit his lip, looking down at his phone in the couch cushion.

"I guess she's just like you said, the typical hook up. I guess I just want something, serious." He spoke as Morgan flashed him a weird look.
"You, the head man of hook ups, wants to settle down?" Morgan asked as Jake scratched his head, looking down. "Guess so, man."

Morgan nodded and looked at his plate to see he ate all of his pizza. Standing up, he walked to the kitchen to grab more, as he began speaking again. Jake grabbed his phone and turned it back on, clicking on the tag of the mysterious blonde in the photo with Ashley. Going through the many photo's of nature and of fashion on her instagram, he could already tell she's different. He came across a few photos of her that were ether with friends or her alone, to which they all had him mesmerized.

"Okay fine I won't help you." Morgan spoke as Jake was pulled out of his trace as Morgan sat beside him. Jake put the phone into the couch cushion again, looking at the blonde beside him.

"Whoa, with what?" He asked as Morgan gave him a serious yet annoyed look. "Do you ever even listen to what I say?" He asked as Jake laughed softly pushing Morgan's head into the pillow before Morgan sat back up, slapping Jake over the head.

"Now i'm definitely not helping you." Morgan said in an annoyed tone as Jake laughed.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, what did you say?" He said as Morgan sighed. "I said I'll see if Ashley knows anyone we can set you up with, I know no one and I'm sure she has a lot of friends so we'll get bachelor Jake some roses to hand out." Morgan said with a smirk as Jake mentally grew happier.

He thought of him maybe having a chance to finally meet his dream girl officially, this was it. He was just going to have to play bachelor.

The next day, the boys were leaving the MasterCard Center and walking to their cars, as Jake was now going to drive Morgan to Ashley's place, where they were to spend another day together. As the boys hoped into the car, feeling fatigued, a tap came from Jake's window as he looked up to see Cody. He unrolled the windows as Cody smiled, leaning into Jake's car.

"Hey, do you boys have plans for the Olympic Opening Ceremonies?" Franson asked as Jake looked at Morgan who shook his head.
"Nah, we're free, why?" Jake asked as Cody nodded. "I'm having a small get together, not like Kadri's Great Gatsby party, I'm just having the guys and a few friends over. You interested?" He asked as they nodded, both replying with "sure's."
Nodding and flashing the two a smile, Cody hit his door softly. "Alright, see you guys tomorrow." He told them, referring to their game the next day.

Jake rolled the window back up and drove out of the parking lot, as he began driving towards the Gardiner Expressway. Morgan controlled the radio, switching through stations before the two heard Drake's, Just Hold On, We're Going Home. They both began singing along to the lyrics, getting into the music before Morgan began to speak.

"So I talked to Ashley, and she says she knows a few bachelorettes. Did you want to come up to Ashley's for a few minutes to ask her about it?" Morgan began as Jake nodded, turning into the next lane. "Yeah sure."

Arriving at the small Toronto condo, Jake parked the car and paid the meter before walking into the lobby with Morgan. The two were met by Ashley who had just a pair of plain dark jeans and a big sweater on reading, Toronto Maple Leafs, across the front.

"Hey, Ash." Morgan began, a smile spreading across his face as he pulled her in for a hug, placing a soft kiss on top of her red hair. Her arms wrapped around his waist as she laughed before pulling away, turning to Jake.

"Hey Jake." She began, waving to him as he did the same. "Hey, Ashley."

"Why don't we go upstairs?" She asked as they nodded, to which she lead them to the elevator. As they stepped in, she hit the button for the fifth floor. Standing next the Morgan, Jake noticed Ashley glancing up at Morgan, who had a smile still spread across his face. Jake could see the two really cared and liked each other, and he envied that. Walking out of the elevator after the doors opened, the three walked to her room, as she opened the door revealing a very female-like apartment, the home furnishings up to date and very favourable.

"Is Shannon here?" Jake asked awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck.

Ashley began to laugh as she shook her head, pointing to Shannon's room. "She's out of town for a few days, went to visit her father in BC or something." She replied, the two guys nodded as Ashley looked at Jake.

"So I heard I have to play cupid?" She smirked as Jake looked at Morgan with an angered look, to which Morgan threw his hands up innocently. "Hey, i'm just trying to help man." He told him as Ashley laughed at the two.

"I have a few girls up my sleeves, do you have anything in mind?" She asked, going to her kitchen before telling them to grab a seat on the couch. The two walked over, as Ashley made herself a cup of tea.

Thinking of the mystery blonde, Jake began to describe her to the best of his ability.

"Blonde, yeah blondes are pretty cool. Uh, very fashionable. Kind hearted.." He began as Morgan cut in. "Good in bed." He winked at Jake before nudging him, as Jake looked at Morgan confused as Ashley looked up at Morgan with an annoyed look.

"Did you want me to find you a girlfriend too?" She asked Morgan who looked at her with wide eyes before shaking his head quickly, a quiet apology followed. Asking the boys if they wanted a drink, they both replied with no's, as she walked over with her hot mug.

Sitting down between the two boys, she nodded, turning to look at Jake while elbowing Morgan in the guts, to which he groaned, clutching onto his side as he whimpered. Jake and Ashley smirked at each other as she began to speak. "I think I have a few girls for you, maybe two or three? I'll set up the dates and give you the details. But you're paying, dude." She told him as a flashback came to his mind of when he went on a date with some random girl he met at one of his practises. He had left before paying the bill, leaving her with the receipt. It was a few weeks after his break up, but it always made him feel bad for how much of a jerk off he truly was. All three of them knew of this story, as Ashley and Morgan both looked at Jake, as he nodded. "Fine, I'll pay." He sighed as he then stood up after checking his watch.

"I've gotta run, just text me with the details." He told Ashley as she nodded, before Jake walked out into the hallway.
