Lost Girl
Sochi
“Jake let’s go!” Morgan yelled out as Jake was putting on his last touch of cologne. He had a plain black t-shirt on and a pair of light wash jeans. His hair was finally cut nicely, hoping tonight wasn’t like his last date. He set the bottle down and grabbed a pair of socks, sliding them on as he was met with Morgan and Ashley. Morgan was wearing a grey hoodie and jeans while Ashley was in a beige wool sweater along with a pair of leggings. She had her hair braided by the bangs and clipped at the back, which Morgan kept playing with, to which she’d laugh and swat his hand away.
“Stop!” She cried as he mimicked her, before wrapping his arms around her stomach and kissing her neck gently. She relaxed into him while she laughed before looking up to see Jake walking out. Ashley knew Jake was having a hard time finding love since his break up with Danielle, and she was determined to help him find love. She took Morgan’s hands off of her and she walked over to Jake, as she put her hand up and fixed his hair. He looked down at her with a goofy look as she rolled her eyes.
“You looked too much like a preppy private school boy with that hair, Jake.” She told him as he looked at Morgan who was hiding a smile. Sighing, Jake rolled his eyes and stepped away from Ashley when she was done. The three put on their shoes as Ashley began to speak.
“Don’t worry, you won’t have to see Monica anytime soon. Morgan told me you weren’t interested which is good, at least you know what you want.” She told Jake to which he thought rather who he wanted. Making their way out of the apartment, Jake lead the three to his car which was in the parking of the condo. They all buckled in once they reached the car and Jake drove off to Franny’s place, which was just down the road. He lived with his girlfriend, Hannah, in an upscale Toronto high rise. Jake parked the car in the visitor’s section of the buildings underground parking and the three made their way up to the elevator. Once inside, Morgan hit the button of the twelfth floor where Cody lived. As the doors opened, they made their way to apartment, 1205, and knocked. They were greeted by Cody who welcomed them inside. He was carrying a plate of nacho’s as he looked at the three of them.
“The opening ceremonies are starting soon, Phil and JVR are only going to stay for an hour or so because their plane leaves tomorrow at like noon or some shit.” He told them as they nodded and made their way in.
“Where’s uh, my date?” Jake asked Ashley quietly as she looked at the group of Leafs and their friends huddled around the television.
“She knows where the party is, she’s going to call me when she arrives.” Ashley told Jake as he nodded, fixing his collar slightly, feeling nervous. He made his way over to the couch and sighed, sitting next to Kadri.
“Hey man.” Jake greeted him as Kadri held his hand out and gave Jake a slap on the hand. “Hey, bud.”
Morgan followed behind Jake, sitting on an empty couch as he watch Ashley help Hannah serve some snacks. Once they were done, Ashley cuddled up to Morgan and began watching the Sochi opening ceremonies. A few minutes passed before she received a call, standing up and running into the hall. Jake stood up and followed slowly as he stood beside Ashley in the empty area.
“Oh great, okay Jake will come down and get you.” Ashley told Jake’s blind date. Hanging up, she looked at Jake and smiled. “She’s downstairs, her name’s Sierra.” She announced as Jake nodded. “Thank you by the way, for all of this.” He said as he then made his way to the elevator. Ashley smiled softly, feeling good about helping and walked into the apartment to join the party. Jake went down the elevator and waited there before he was approached by a blonde. He looked at her and smiled, feeling crushed. It wasn’t her. What was up with his luck? Wasn’t Ashley going to set him up with her cousin? Keeping a positive attitude, Jake began to speak.
“So you’re Sierra?” He asked as she nodded. She was wearing a simple outfit, a plain v-neck and cardigan along with a pair of jeans. Her blonde hair was in soft curls that reached her chest. She had hints of brown in her hair, which highlighted the blonde parts. “Jake.” He greeted her with a handshake as she returned it.
Deciding to get to know the girl and hoping it wouldn’t turn out the same as Monica would, Jake walked off to a bench in the lobby and began talking to the blonde one on one. They talked about sports and music, along with their roots. She was from northern Toronto, and was in school for nursing.
While the two got to know each other downstairs, Ashley and Morgan were having a fun time in the party. Morgan wondered off to Cody’s recreational room to find Frazer and Dion going for round two on the ping pong table.
“Seriously?” He asked Bozak who was laughing, watching the game while waiting for his turn in his own pool game against JVR.
Morgan watched as he heard Ashley’s voice coming from the living room.
“What the hell are you doing here!?” She asked a blonde who looked slightly familiar to him. Ashley was hugging the blonde, who was laughing with the red head.
“I came with Joff!” She announced as Morgan looked up to see Lupul. Morgan gave him a quick guy-hug, before looking at Ashley, confused.
“Oh! Morgan, this is my cousin, Piper! Piper, this is Morgan!” She announced as Morgan gave Piper a handshake. Morgan and Lupul walked off into the recreational room as Ashley and Piper walked off to a quiet room to talk. Ashley sat with her cousin on a fabric covered bench in the dinning room as she began to speak.
“What are you doing here? You know Joff?” Ashley asked as Piper laughed softly, running a hand through her long blonde hair.
“Yeah, he lives in my building. We met a few weeks ago and have been hanging out ever since.” Piper announced as Ashley hit her on the shoulder, in shock.
“No way.” She started as Piper laughed, “Yeah way, man.”
“But does he know you’re only eighteen?” Ashley asked her younger cousin.
Piper laughed softly as she played with her nails. “Dude, I’m finally legal it’s not like it’s rape.” She announced as Ashley rolled her eyes, laughing.”
“I mean, he’s like thirty something.” She told her cousin who shrugged. “Well we haven’t done anything and I don’t know if I see him that way, he’s kinda just a really good friend.” Piper announced as Ashley nodded, before Piper turned the questions onto Ashley.
“So, Morgan and you finally, you know.” Piper gestured with her eyebrows as Ashley blushed, looking down slightly.
“We finally told each other how we feel, but we haven’t done anything. We hardly even kiss, man.” She told her cousin who nodded.
The two stood up and sighed before walking off to the living room and watching the olympics. Lupul then walked in and sat next to Piper, to which he whispered in her ear.
“You know Morgan’s girl?” He asked as she laughed slightly. “She’s my cousin.” She told him as he gave her a surprised look before nodding.
Ashley got up and walked over to where Morgan was playing ping pong against Phil. She watched and sat next to Frazer who was heated over his loss to Dion. She began trying to calm him down as she then saw Jake and Sierra walk into the room. Jake looked at Morgan and Phil and rolled his eyes as he sat next to Ashley.
“So?” She whispered to him as he watched the game yet began to talk to Ashley.
“She’s pretty cool, don’t know if she’s for me but she’s a good girl.” He told her as Ashley smiled, patting his knee.
“You’re a picky bastard.”
Jake laughed softly before standing up and grabbing the paddle off a moping Phil. Morgan was mocking Phil to which Ashley slapped Morgan’s ass. Morgan turned around to look at the redhead as she gave him a stern look. “Don’t be a douche.” She told him as he sat down, crossing his arms.
“Hey, I’ll play.” Joff announced behind Jake as he nodded. Lupes grabbed the paddle off of the table and the two began playing. The game was close, 5-4, until it was Lupul’s turn to serve. As he was going into his stroke, he looked up and saw Piper behind Jake. She was in the doorway leaning on the frame. He sent her a wink as she laughed softly, making Jake confused to who Lupes was trying to impress this time. Turning around, Jake came face to face with his mystery girl.
“You..” He whispered as she looked back at him.
