Training Miller
Chapter Fourteen
"How long is this drive supposed to be?" Brandon whined from the backseat. For some reason he wanted to come with Beau and me even though we were leaving 3 hours earlier than his parents. Beau mumbled something about being quiet so he could sleep and I got off the highway in an attempt to look for coffee or something with caffeine.
"It would go a lot faster if you fell asleep and stop complaining," I told him as I got out of the car, "Want anything?"
"Red gatorade."
"Beau, you want anything? Beau!"
"What?"
"Do you want anything?"
"Yeah, I'll come in," He unbuckled himself and pretty much fell out of the car. I couldn't help but giggle at how clumsy he could be.
The drive wasn't that bad once Brandon fell asleep. Beau took my hand, rubbing his thumb in circles on it. I was nervous for him to meet my family. I was sure that he would get along with my brother and parents, but my sister was a whole different story.
When I told her I was dating Beau, she was pissed. Apparently I was supposed to hook her up with the team or something.
Yeah, because I'm totally gonna pimp out my 17 year old sister to a bunch of 25 year old assholes. We may not get along but there are few penguins I'd want my sister to date. Except Olli. He's pretty sweet and close to her age.
Maybe if she comes to a game..
I finally made it to the parking lot of my parents's hotel with two sleeping boys. I slammed on the breaks when I had found a spot, causing them to wake up.
"What was that for?" Beau looked at me with tired eyes.
"To wake you up. We're here and my family is waiting," I put the car in park and turned it off, "Wake up Sunshine!"
Beau lazily fought my hand from his shoulder, "Don't do that."
"Seriously babe. You need to get out of the car. We can take a nap before we go to lunch."
The door to the room my parents and sister were staying in was open. I knocked a little before walking in, "Hello?"
"Drew! It's so good to see you!" My mom rushed over to suffocate me in a hug.
"Hi mom," Once she let me go, I turned to Beau and introduced him to my family, "Beau this is my mom, dad, and sister Anna. Everyone, this is Beau."
He shook my dad's hand, gave my mother a hug, but stayed away from my sister. She was drooling over him so I slapped her.
"Drew," My mom warned.
"She cannot be looking at Beau like that."
"We are going to have some problems if you two are going to act like this," My dad shook his head. Did he really expect anything different from the two of us?
"We are going to have some problems if she keeps looking at my boyfriend like that,"
"Alright. Drew go take a nap before we go to lunch, poor Beau looks like he's going to fall over. Anna, don't look at him that way. We all know you have a thing for your brother's teammate anyway. That's why you wanted to be here so bad. I'm not saying that's okay. I'm just saying, that's a better idea than your sister's boyfriend," we sat there and stared at my mother for a minute, "You heard me. You have your key, now go!"
I opened the door and he threw our bag on the floor then he picked me up and threw me on the bed.
"Thanks loser."
He plopped down beside me, pulling me close, "Shh. Go to sleep."
I rolled me eyes at his stupid smile. I didn't think I would fall asleep because I wasn't that tired since I had downed a red bull at the gas station, but I was so comfortable in his arms that I apparently didn't want to wake up.
"Drew, your parents said we're leaving in five minutes, you might want to wake up."
"No," I mumbled, trying to push him away from me.
"Fine then," I thought he was going to leave me alone, but he started placing kisses along my collar bones, lightly sucking at my neck. He was bound to leave a mark if he didn't stop and I didn't have a scarf to cover it up.
"Okay, okay. I'll get up. If you don't stop we'll both be in a little bit of trouble," I finally got out of his reach and went to the mirror to straighten up my hair.
"Wait, your parents will be mad about a hickey? You're 23.."
"Okay, my mom knows about the whole pregnancy scare with Patrick, but I'm still my daddy's little girl who can do no wrong."
"You had a pregnancy scare with Kane?"
"Oh. Um. Yeah. I did. I thought I told you about that.."
"No, no you didn't," He whispered and looked at the ground. I could tell that really upset him.
"Hey, hey look at me," I went over to him and knelt down," I'm sorry I didn't tell you that before, but it's in the past. I love you, and I am completely yours, okay?"
"I just feel like I'm always up against him," Beau admitted.
"For what? Me? Beau, if I wanted to be with Patrick, I would have found another job in Chicago and moved in with him. But I don't. I moved to Pittsburgh and met you. Don't feel like you're ever being compared to Patrick. He has nothing on you, okay?" Beau nodded his head. I could tell he would still think about it, but I would too if I were him.
"Oh shit," Brandon walked in while I was still knelt down in front of Beau.
"Calm down. He still has his pants on," I stood up and turned to my cousin, "Unlike the time I walked in on you and your friend."
"That was one time. Let it go!"
"Oh no," Beau knew exactly what would happen next.
"Let it go. Let it gooo!" I went on singing the song everyone knew, even if they hadn't seen the movie.
"Why? Why are you singing?" My sister was complaining in the hallway. Again. I swear she never stops.
"We were supposed to be gone five minutes ago, get a move on," my mom told us, herding us outside, "We have an excursion so we can fit everyone in one car."
That's a great idea, mom.
My sister was complaining that she had to sit in the very back, but I wasn't sitting in the middle of her and Beau and there was no way in hell that she was sitting by my boyfriend. I wasn't going to have it.
"Shut up already. We're here," My dad told her, "I'm getting tired of your complaining."
He's obviously sick of her crap today.
Lunch with my family went well. I'm pretty sure Beau is more intimidated by Dan than my father, but I can't really say that I blame him. It would be weird if you were dating your coach's niece.
"Seriously, how long do these things take?" Beau whined as he leaned forward to put his elbows on his knees.
"We still have five more weight classes babe. Two until my brother," I rubbed his back, poor thing doesn't know what he got himself into.
"And we have to do this tomorrow morning too?"
"You can go back with Danny tonight," I offered, knowing he would turn t down and stop complaining.
"No I think I can survive. You just might have to make it up to me tonight," He winked. I was glad his voice was low enough that my family could not hear what he said.
"We share a room with Brandon, maybe tomorrow night," I smiled hoping he would catch on.
"Wait you can't even do anything until at least Monday."
"Don't remind me, asshole. My uterus is already making it painfully obvious."
"Gross," Brandon cringed and scooted away from me.
"Drew, stop torturing your cousin," My father tried warning me.
"It's not like I said I was going to bleed all over his things and he wasn't even in this conversation anyway!"
"How are you my sister?"
"I ask myself the same thing every day," I mumbled. Maybe she wouldn't be getting a date with Olli anytime soon..
After the dual was done, my brother found us to talk for a while. He tried to be intimidating when he met Beau, but I don't think the 5'11, 165 pound college kid has anything on the guys that a pro hockey player sees on a daily basis. They actually hit it off really well once they started talking for a while.
Once we were done catching up and finalizing plans for tomorrow, my parents brought Beau and me back to the hotel and we split apart for dinner. I think my mom realized that spending a lot of time with my family can be a little overwhelming, especially when he had just met them and they'll be in Pittsburgh at Danny's until Tuesday.
I was supposed to wake up before Brandon. My alarm was set and everything, but when it went off I decided sleeping was more important than showering. I'd just start getting ready when Brandon got in the shower.
"Beau. Time to get up," I shook him but he only groaned and rolled onto his back, "Beau. You know exactly what's going to happen." I tried warning him. Anything that would happen next is all his fault.
He hadn't moved in a few minutes so I pulled back the blanket and climbed on top of him. I started to place kissed along his collar bones and lightly sucked the spot on his neck I knew he liked. He finally got up once I started grinding my hips on his.
"Hey, that's not fair," He complained when I got up to get dressed.
"I warned you. You brought that on yourself."
"You definitely owe me when we get back to Pittsburgh."
"I didn't need that imagery first thing in the morning," Brandon walked out of the shower, mid-conversation.
I started laughing. Brandon looked horrified and Beau was trying to tame his hair. One day down with the Miller family, four to go.
Notes
Sorry it took so long to update.
@heysunshine
I understand that. I would love it if it just followed them through their everyday life. I think that would be awesome.
