Training Miller

Chapter Nine

I put on my skates and finally got on the ice. "Oh fuck." I cursed, I'm too sore for this. I was too drunk last night to remember exactly what we did different that would cause me to be this sore.
"I bet you were saying that a lot last night." Neal laughed as he skated past me.
"It's actually 'Oh God' when I'm with Patrick," I yelled back before attaching myself to Robert. "I'm sorry. Someone has to hold my hand while I skate or I might break something."
"Anything for the birthday girl," he laughed. "Since you're mad at Beau, is it wrong for me to comment on how you look in those leggings?"
"Well, I wouldn't wear them if I didn't think I looked good. Let's be honest here. It's nice but it's not as huge as Sid's."
"Hey now. My ass is not that big." Sidney defended himself. I'd be lying if I didn't sing 'all that ass. In those jeans' whenever I saw him around town.
"I was talking to my sister about you today. She's definitely in love." I joked, I'm sure he gets enough of that from the guys. Crosby fangirls can get a little crazy sometimes. He seemed pretty interested in what I was telling him though, wiggling his eyebrows. "Whoa there. She's not legal yet. She just turned 17."
"Oh and for your present, I took care of your wreck of a boyfriend." Rob told me as we skated around the edge of the rink. I had just stopped thinking about him..
"He's not my boyfriend and Jay already told me you were in on his gift, but nice try."
"I'm not saying either of you were saints last night, but you should talk to him." I pulled him into the middle of the rink, where a few guys had started gathering.
"Don't worry. I will. Tomorrow."
"So I never got to see the damage," Brandon laughed. He knew exactly what my scarf was covering. I rolled my eyes, I knew they'd see them eventually. I pulled the ends through the loop I had made and exposed my bare neck. Of course everyone made comments about Patrick and me. They always had something to say about whatever I did. Or whoever.
"Are we going out tonight or what?" Jay seemed dead set on going out again.
"It doesn't matter. I'd be perfectly fine reading and taking a bath tonight."
"We're going out." Jay grabbed my hand and led me to where I could exit the rink.
Lucky, tonight was just a few of the guys and me. I somehow got the idea it was good to drink tequila tonight and on my third shot, I stopped caring about everything. I took off the scarf, started dancing with some random guy. You would have never guessed that I got a little drunk last night.
I found my way back to my friends and ordered a few more drinks before actually talking to anyone. They were pretty much there to have a few drinks and watch me make a fool of myself.
"She was prettier than me, wasn't she?" I'm going to be that girl tonight.
"Yeah she was." Pauly hit Jayson upside the head for the comment. "I mean that in the nicest way possible, Drew. I'm sure your personality is much better."
"Are you stupid? You don't say that to a drunk girl, especially your best friend."
"I obviously picked the wrong Penguin to date. Pauly knows what's up." I gave him a thumbs up. I've spent way too much time with him since working here to actually be anything more than friends now, but I'm drunk and don't really know better.
I made Brandon go dance with me, after having another shot or two. He was pretty tipsy himself. If I had made the same offer as I had the first night we went out, he would have accepted it in a heartbeat and I think the rest of our group knew that. We were dancing pretty close and his hands started wandering when Jayson said it was time to leave.
I never actually go to my house whenever I drink. I'm not sure why, but tonight I was going to Jay's house. I think. I really didn't care. I trusted him to not be an asshole and actually take care of me. We were walking to his car to grab my stuff before catching a cab when I decided I should sing.
"So tell me you love me, only for tonight."
"I love you Drew." He laughed at my drunk slurring of Wicked Games. He's the one that showed me The Weeknd and I'm glad he did.
"Even though you don't love me, just tell me you love me. I'll give you all of me, I'll give you all of me. Even though you don't love me. Let me see you dance, I love to watch you dance." I was quiet for most of the ride to his house and then started back up
"All along the eastern front, with the voltage running through her skin. She got the power in her hand, she's gonna teach me how to swim."
"Drew, I don't think that's how the song goes." Jayson opened the door, guiding me inside. I realized this wasn't his house when I saw Beau and Robert on the couch playing xbox. "I need help with the birthday girl."
The three guys looked at me funny while I was humming to myself. They seemed to get a kick out of it. I'm glad they did cause I was having fun just dancing. I caught Beau's eyes for just a second and there was something about them that made me forget all about last night and feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Actually, that's probably the tequila doing what it should.
"I think it's time for you to go to bed. You can take my bed, I'll sleep on the couch." Beau picked me up and carried me to his bedroom before setting me on the bed and grabbing some clothes for me to sleep in. "You can undress yourself, right?"
"Of course I can, I'm just drunk." I may have to sit down to do it, but I can definitely change clothes by myself. He turned around while I struggled with my legging. I had trouble getting them off sober, being drunk was even worse.
I woke around ten the next morning with a killer headache. I was not going to survive this day. I made my way to the kitchen where I saw Beau sitting at the table, drinking coffee. He looked up at smiled, "Well good morning sleeping beauty. How do you feel?"
"I honestly think I'm still drunk." I reached up for a mug but I was too short.
"Let me get that." He reached over me and grabbed the mug before pouring me a cup of coffee. "Did you have fun last night?"
"Oh I wish I could remember." I laughed at myself. I don't remember much about last night, I just know I was dancing with random guys and drinking like there was no tomorrow. "I guess that makes it a successful night, doesn't it?"
"By the look of your neck, you had two fun nights in a row."
"Too bad it wasn't with you." I mumbled into my coffee cup.
"I'm sorry Drew. I don't know what I was thinking. I don't even have the excuse of saying I was drunk. I just don't want to mess this up any more than I already have."
"No. It's my fault too. I overreacted. I should have just grabbed you instead of watching you. I shouldn't have slept with Pat either.." He walked over to my chair and knelt down beside me.
"Drew. This is not your fault. You will not take the blame. I'm stupid, okay? I should have just manned up and asked you to be my girlfriend before. I really am sorry." He stood up and held out his hand for me, "Come on. Let's get you home so you can shower and we'll grab some lunch."
The drive to my apartment was silent, but I didn't mind. There wasn't much I could say. Or wanted to say, really. We had worked things out and it felt good. He followed me up to my apartment and sat down on the couch, turning on the tv before I could say anything. I turned on the water and got in. Of course I would forget my towel. Instead of trying to make a run for it or yell at Beau, I decided to call him.
"It's on the counter," He laughed at me. I waited for him to shut the door before peeking my head out, seeing if he actually left. After throwing on a pair of old running shorts and a sweatshirt, I went out to my kitchen to see what I had.
"Did you have anything in mind you wanted to eat?"
"No. Why?"
"I have a really good recipe for mac and cheese that I was going to make for my dinner but I kind of want to make it now."
"Sounds great." He smiled as he watched me get together everything I needed. We hadn't been alone a lot, but I liked when we were. No jokes. No people to interrupt us. "Oh. I forgot to give you this." He set a little blue box between us. It didn't matter how old you were, or whether you liked jewelry or not. Every girl dreams about getting a box from Tiffany's.
I slowly took the white ribbon off the box and looked at what was inside. inside. There was a necklace with a key pendant lined with diamonds with what looked like rose gold in the middle. "Wow Beau. This is gorgeous. I can't imagine what you spent."
"Then don't. I wanted to get you something special for your birthday.. Flower helped me out when we were in New York."
"Beau. You really shouldn't have.."
"But I wanted to." He made his way to my side and helped me put on the necklace. He turned me back around and smiled at me before tilting my chin up to kiss me. "I would not have spent that money if I didn't want to. Drew, I really like you. It has taken me since August to ask you out. I've wasted almost three months and I don't want to waste another. I want you to be my girlfriend."
"Of course I will be your girlfriend, Beau." He leaned into kiss me and didn't have the intention of stopping anytime soon. "This is great and all, but your lunch is going to be ruined if we keep doing this."
"I think I'll risk that," He smirked as he leaned in once more, but I got away from him before he could make contact with my lips.
"Yeah, but I won't."

I understand that. I would love it if it just followed them through their everyday life. I think that would be awesome.

@Eat_sleep_hockey15
Thank you! It's on hold because I really don't know where I want it to go and I was relating a little too much to Bentley so I thought it would be best to stop for a while.

Okay so Drew and Beau's story does continue. They're a part of my Robert Bortuzzo fanfic, Sure Feels Right and there will be a sequel that's for both of the stories once I'm finished with that fic. The story is on Wattpad or I'll be posting it on here sometime soon! Along with the sequel once I finish :)
