Can I Trust You?

~NEXT DAY~

GRACIE'S POV

Today is the day when I get to officially meet the Lemieux family. I am nervous.

No actually not nervous. I AM TERRIFIED!

I am scared that they won't like me and think that I'm not good enough for Sid. And also the fact that I grew up watching Mario play makes me a little starstruck.

I am standing in my closet trying to figure out what to wear when I feel arms go around my waist.
"Hey babe. You ok?" Sid asks.
"Yea I just can't figure out what to wear. Do i dress up? Do i go casual? Do i go dressy casual? Help me!" I plead.
"Babe they are normal people. Go casual but nice. Maybe a nice pair of jeans and a cute top or something. They will love you I promise."
"How can you be so sure they will love me? Maybe they will think I'm some gold digger who is only with you for your money and to get laid."
"They will love you because I love you. They just want me happy, like my parents. If they see that I am happy they will be happy. They already love you based on everything I tell them about you and what my parents have said about you. It will be ok. Now get dressed or we will be late. I know Austin wanted my help with something before dinner too."
"Alright. Now go watch tv or something while I finish up. I just have to get dressed and then I'm ready."
"Ok babe" he said before kissing me deeply, leaving me wanting more.

I look at my clothes and find a really cute top that I actually just bought not that long ago. I pair it with a pair of black jeggings and my black suede boots. I put on a simple necklace, bracelet, and hoop earrings before putting perfume on. I check myself over in the mirror, trying to fluff my hair a bit since I curled it a bit. Once I'm happy I grab my purse and phone and walk downstairs to find Sid on the couch watching NHL Network.

"K babe I'm ready to go," I say walking over to him.
"Alright," he says turning the tv off and turning around to look at me. "You look beautiful," he kissed me again.
"Thank you. I didn't tell you but you look very handsome," I said looking at him.
"Thanks. Alright lets go."

We get our coats on and I lock the doors before we head to his Rover. He opens the door for me and I blush cause he is such a gentleman. He kisses my cheek before closing the door.

On the way over he tells me about how his practice was this morning. I love listening to him talk about hockey because he loves it so much. Its his passion and his face lights up when he talks about it.

When we get to the Lemieux house, I start to get nervous again. But I just breathe and think about what Sid told me. They already like me based on what he said. They are normal people too so need to act a certain way.

"You coming baby?" I didn't even realize he had gotten out and opened my door.
"Yea of course" i said unbuckling my seat belt and grabbing my purse.
"Hey. Just know that I love you very much baby" he said kissing me.
"I know. I love you too Sid"

We walk in and a girl suddenly comes running over and hugs Sid. He laughs as he catches her then sets her back on the floor.
"Alexa this is my girlfriend Gracie. Gracie this is Alexa, Mario and Nat's youngest daughter."
"Hi Gracie! Its so nice to meet you! I have heard so much about you!" She exclaims hugging me tightly.
"Its nice to meet you too Alexa" I reply laughing.

"Oh Alexa let the girl breathe." I hear a deep voice say behind us. I look over and see Mario Lemieux. Holy crap he is taller in person.
"Gracie. Its nice to meet you. I'm Mario" he says going in for a handshake.
"Bonjour Monsieur Lemieux. Enchantée" I reply shaking his hand.
"Ahh. Vous parlez française?"
"A little bit. I took French in high school" I blush.
"Impressive. Come on. Nathalie is in the kitchen finishing things up and Stephanie and Lauren are helping out. Sid, Austin is in the basement waiting for you." He leads us towards the kitchen.
"Alright Mario. Thanks" Sid kisses my cheek before disappearing.

As we go into the kitchen, I smell the aroma of a delicious dinner.
"Nathalie, this is Gracie, Sid's girlfriend" Mario introduces us.
"Gracie its wonderful to meet you. You are even more beautiful than what Sid has described." She says hugging me.
"Aww thank you! Its nice to meet you too." I reply.

"Hi Gracie. I'm Stephanie and this is my sister Lauren," Stephanie says.
"Hi. Its nice to meet you guys. Sid talks about you guys all the time," I reply.
"Sid is like our big brother," Lauren says then pauses. "Speaking of I think I hear Austin and Sid coming up now."

I look over and they come in the kitchen laughing about something.
"Hi babe. This is Austin," Sid says after kissing my cheek.
"Hi Austin its nice to meet you"
"Nice to meet you too"

"Gracie would you like something to drink? Wine?" Nathalie offers.
"Wine is fine. Thank you."
"Preference?"
"Whatever is fine with me."
"Alright"

Nat comes back with two glasses of white wine. "Thank you. This is delicious" I tell her.
"You're welcome," she replies.

We sit around the kitchen while dinner finishes up. I feel my nerves slipping away the longer I'm here.

Once dinner is ready, I help Nathalie bring it into the dining room even though she told me to go sit. "Please? I want to help" i told her.

We sat down and dished out our food. After we began eating Mario said, "So Gracie tell us about yourself."
"Well I used to play hockey when I was younger until I got injured so I had to stop. I went to college on a hockey scholarship and majored in journalism. I am the only child of my family which was sort of nice."
"What kind of injury did you suffer that caused you to stop playing?" Austin asked.
"I got hit in the neck then pushed into the boards by my biggest rival which caused a bad concussion. I lost consciousness and was in a coma for a couple months. Missed New Years and my birthday due to the coma," I replied remembering everything vividly.
"Aww honey. Are you okay now?" Nat asked.
"Yea. Luckily I don't have permanent damage but I do continue to have headaches which is apparently a result of the concussion."
"You shouldn't still be having headaches. How long ago was this?" Sid asked.
"About 5 years ago" I told him
"You shouldn't still be getting headaches babe"
"Its ok. Its not like I get one everyday" I reassured him.
"As long as you are ok now?" Mario asked
"Yea I'm fine now" I smiled

We dropped the subject and went back to eating. They asked me more questions which I answered with no hesitation. It was nice getting to know them. I only knew Mario as a hockey player and some other things that I would see online, but now I know him as a person. Just like Sid.

After dinner, we, with the exception of Sid, had a piece of chocolate cake for dessert. We sat there and talked some more before Sid and I had to leave since Sid has a game tomorrow night against the Habs.

"It was wonderful to meet you Gracie. Will we see you at the game tomorrow night?" Nathalie asks while hugging me.
"It was wonderful meeting you guys too. Yes I will be there tomorrow night" I replied.
"We will see you tomorrow night then. Sid, see you at morning skate in the morning" Mario said.
"Alright. Good night" I said
"Night guys" Sid said.

We got in the car and he headed across the street to his house. We headed inside and took our shoes before heading to the couch.

"So what did you think?" he asked wrapping his arm around me.
"Sidney they are so nice. I had fun tonight. Thank you for inviting me" I replied kissing him.
"I'm glad. They really loved you I could tell" he replied kissing me back
"Really?"
"Oh yea. Mario kept looking at me with a look saying he approved"
"Good. I'm glad they like me"
"Me too. Although I love you more"
"I love you too handsome" I kissed him again

Sid pulled me onto his lap as we were kissing. He started kissing my neck as I started grinding in his lap. His kisses drive me crazy. He pushed me back onto the couch and got on top of me. I pulled his shirt up and he sat up to take it off. I couldn't help but run my hands down his abs, which made him flex. He took my top off and my jeggings, throwing them on the floor with his shirt. I pulled him down to me so I could kiss him.

"I love you so much baby" he said kissing down to my chest.
"I love you too handsome" I said running my fingers through his hair.
I reached down and unbuckled his belt and unbuttoned his jeans. He got the hint and and got off the couch to push his jeans and boxers down. Before he got back on the couch, he took my panties and bra off.
"Baby I need to grab a condom" he said in between kisses.
"Mmm... ok" I replied

He grabbed a condom out of his wallet and placed it on. "I love you" he said.
"I love you too" I kissed him.
He made love to me slowly on the couch and it was amazing. I dug my nails into his back as we came together.

After lying there for a few minutes, he got up and went to get rid of the condom. When he came back he wrapped me in a blanket before doing the same to himself and carried me upstairs to his room. He placed me on the bed, grabbed me a shirt to sleep in and said, "I'll be in. I want to bring our clothes in here"
"Okay" I mumbled.
"Go to sleep baby"
"Mmm..."

~Next day/Game day~

SID POV

When I woke up the next morning, Gracie was cuddled into my side. I pulled her in closer and kissed her head, making her cuddle into me more. I love when she does that. It makes me feel needed. I look over at the clock and see that I need to get up and get ready for morning skate.

I slowly crawl out of bed so that I don't disturb my girl. She looks so peaceful and I know that she doesn't have to go to work until around noon so she can sleep a bit longer.

I go in the bathroom and jump in the shower. After washing up, I get dressed and write a note for Gracie, setting it on the pillow. I pull the covers up over her, kiss her cheek, nose, and lips and walk away before I get back in bed with her.

When I get downstairs I see Dad in the kitchen getting coffee. "Morning Dad"
"Morning Son. How'd you sleep?" he asks.
"Good" I replied pouring some coffee in my travel mug.
"How was your dinner with Mario last night?"
"It was nice. They love Gracie. I'm glad all of you love her. She means everything to me and I hope I can keep her around for a long time" I said thinking of her sleeping peacefully upstairs.
"She is an amazing girl Sid. We see how happy you are with her. I don't think I have ever seen the look in your eyes you get looking at her for anything else besides hockey. You guys are great together."
"Thanks Dad. You coming to skate?"
"Yup. You ready to go?"
"Yea lets go"

On our way to CONSOL we discuss the game tonight. This is our first game back since the Olympics and we need to be on our game. Those of us that were on vacations need to get back in the game and those of us that were at the Olympics can't slack off.

When we get there, we go our separate ways: he goes to the stands and I head to the locker room. A few of the guys were joking around when I got in there but I just shook my head at them and went to my locker. As I was changing, I saw my phone fall out of my jeans and before I could pick it up the guys took it from me.
"Well look what do we have here" Duper said
"Looks like your girl sent you a text Sid" Nealer said
"Guys give me my phone"
"Nope. Aww she sent you a picture" Duper laughed
"Guys..." I started toward them
"Oh come on Cap we just want to say hi to her"
"You can say hi later. Give me my phone" I finally wrestled it from them and looked at what she sent me.

She sent me a selfie of her lying on my pillow with her eyes closed. She said 'Missed waking up next to u handsome. Have a great skate! C u tonight after the game! Luv u!'
I smiled and went back to getting ready for skate.

~GAME TIME~

GRACIE POV

I just got to CONSOL and was headed to my seat when I heard my name being called. I turned around and saw Sid's parents waving me toward them.

I walked over to them and Trina gave me a hug. "Where are your seats?" she asked.
"Section 106" I replied after looking at my ticket
"That is right by us. Come on" Troy said.
"Oh okay" I said.

We sat down just in time for warm ups to start. I was so busy watching that I didn't even realize they were getting my attention. "Sorry. I like watching warm ups" I said sheepishly.
"Its okay. I asked how dinner with the Lemieux family went last night?" Trina asked.
"It was nice. They were very nice and welcoming. I can see why Sid loves them. I always only knew Mario as a hockey player and things I would see online but now I know him as a person just like with Sid" I replied.
"Yea they are a nice family. We're happy they were here for Sid when he came into the league. That way he wasn't alone in a city he didn't know" Troy said.
"Yea they were so sweet. Their kids were there too and it was sweet seeing how Sid was with them."
"Yea they have always looked up to him like an older brother."
"It's like one giant family" I smiled.
"Yes it is" Trina smiled.

Warm ups ended and the guys left the ice. I saw Sid look up at us and saw Troy wave. I smiled because I didn't want to mess up his routines.

They came back out a few minutes later and Sid's line was on the blue line waiting for the anthems to begin. We stood and sang along to O Canada and the Star Spangled Banner. Then it was game time.

The game was physical from the beginning. Nealer and Engelland scored in the first period to give us a 2-1 lead. Olli scored in the second to give us a 3-2 lead before the Habs tied it to end the period. Then Suttsy scored for a 4-3 lead then Sid scored for a 5-4 lead in the third. The Habs tied it with about six minutes remaining in regulation. Nobody scored in overtime so they went to a shootout where Nealer was the only Penguin that scored, but it wasn't enough. They ended up losing 6-5.

I follow Troy and Trina to the family lounge to wait for Sid. I get pulled away by Vero and Catherine to talk while we wait. Alex, Catherine and Kris' son, decided to climb on my lap and fall asleep during our conversation. He was so adorable and is definitely his dad's son. He looks so much like Tanger.

After a few, the guys start coming out and Kris and Marc find their way over to us.
"I guess Alex made a new friend" Tanger said.
"Yea he decided to climb in my lap and fall asleep while we were talking" I told him.
"He loves to cuddle. Here, you want me to take him?" he asked.
I handed him over and they left a couple minutes later, followed by Marc and Vero.
"You, Cath and I need to have a girls day soon" Vero said hugging me.
"Definitely" I smiled.

I went back over to Troy and Trina to see Sid talking to them. "Hey guys" I said.
"Hey babe" Sid kissed my cheek
"Good game. Sorry about the loss" I hugged him.
"It's fine" he smiled.
"Well son you want to get going? We head to Chicago tomorrow. We need rest" Troy said.
"Yea I will see you at home" Sid said.
"Alright honey. See you tomorrow or in Chicago Gracie" Trina said.
"Night" I smiled.

"Where did you park baby?" Sid pulled me closer to him.
"The lot right by the players entrance" I told him.
"Alright then you can come with me and I will take you to your car" he kissed me on the lips.
"Ok handsome"
"So you fly to Chicago tomorrow?" he asked
"Yea. I will stop at home real quick after work and head to the airport."
"Alright then I will see you tomorrow. I will make sure there is a car there to pick you up and bring you to our hotel"
"Ok. Thank you."

We get to his car and he insists on making sure I get to my car. We aren't public yet so we don't want the fans to see me yet.
"Goodnight handsome" I kissed him.
"Night baby doll. Talk to you later" he kissed me again.
"Ok. Love you"
"Love you too"
