Thirteen: Brief Encounters
Ainsley danced around like crazy. Marc decided to throw a party so that have her permission to get as messy as she liked. She danced by herself. She danced with guys. She danced with girls. She danced with music. She danced without it. All Ainsley wanted to do was dance. She found her brother's girlfriend and began dancing with her. Vero laughed at the girl.
"Someone's had one too many drinks, yes?" She smirked.
Ainsley nodded. "One too many, too many!" She explained.
"Go drink some water, babe. You don't want to be done before midnight." Vero frowned, brushing Ainsley's hair from her face.
Ainsley agreed and set off for the kitchen. She yanked open her fridge but was pulled back from it. Tyler snaked an arm around her waist.
"Whatcha looking for?" He asked her.
"Vero says I need water." She stated.
"Tyler says you need alcohol." He grinned, handing her a shot.
"Tell Tyler he fucking sucks." She said before she shot it back.
She escaped the commotion in the kitchen and wandered off through the party. She stood with some people before she realized how close she was to pissing herself. She finished off her drink and put the cup down as she made her way to the washroom. She did her business and walked back out.
Ainsley could have sworn she walked into a brick wall. She froze in place, holding her head. She didn't know what she walked into but it hurt. She felt a hand grabbed her arm. She looked up in confusion and met an all too familiar pair of eyes. Her jaw dropped when she realized the wall she walked into was Sidney Crosby. He looked down at her with concerned eyes.
"Are you okay?" He asked, putting his beer down.
She nodded with her mouth still wide open. She felt her stomach turn and the bile rose in her throat. She grabbed her stomach and covered her mouth. Sidney sighed, wrapping an arm around her.
"I'm going to be sick." She confessed as he guided her to the washroom.
"Go into the washroom and I'll get Kristen, okay?" He said as he helped Ainsley sit down.
She smiled. "Thanks, Squid." He chuckled.
"'Squid'? That's a new one." He winked before he walked out.
Ainsley felt her heart drop as he closed the door. She decided to lay in the tub in embarrassment. She pulled the curtain closed and sulked. She couldn't believe she just did that. Kristen walked into the washroom, locking the door behind her. She saw Ainsley struggling to get up through the shower curtain. Kristen sighed, pulling it open. Ainsley reached out for help.
"I'm gonna be sick. Help me." She pleaded.
Kristen yanked her up and Ainsley landed right at the toilet. She lifted the toilet seat before she began to barf. Kristen held her hair back and rubbed her back. She had to turn her head and block out the sounds. She heard the toilet flush and looked back to her. Ainsley mumbled something about Sidney to Kristen.
"You called him, what?" Kristen asked as her friend started to cry. Kristen shook her head. "Why are you crying? Because you called Sidney 'Skid'?"
"I called him 'Squid' like the ugly fish with tails!" Ainsley screamed.
Kristen burst into laughter. "You mean the octopus thing?"
"Kristen, shut up!" Ainsley cried.
Morgan watched Jake as he watched Jocelyn walk over to Felicia who stood outside the washroom door with Kaitlyn and Valerie. He sighed, downing the remaining contents of his beer. He placed the bottle down and walked over to Jake. He looked nervous.
"Hey." Morgan said, his hands in his pockets.
"Hi." Jake cleared his throat.
Morgan took a deep breath. "Look, I know you're into Jocelyn, and she's definitely into you, so go for it." He spoke.
"Morgan, you're my best friend. I'm not gon,"
"Go. She's more into you than she'll ever be into me." He squeezed Jake's shoulder.
Jake smiled at his friend. He stepped around him. He spotted Jocelyn standing against the washroom door. He took a deep breath and set off. Jocelyn turned and spotted him. She felt her cheeks burning as his eyes stayed on her. He came over, a smile on his face.
"Is there a line?" He asked.
Jocelyn laughed. "As if it was that simple." She sighed. "Ainsley's throwing up and crying with Kristen in there. They won't let us in."
"Well, I don't want to be that guy, but do you maybe wanna go for a walk with me?" He begged.
She nodded. "Yeah. Ainsley's annoying when she cries." She explained, taking Jake's hand.
The pair walked out of the house. They walked a block away. The music playing from the party could still be heard. Jocelyn stopped, stepping in front of Jake. She looked up at him.
"What?" He furrowed his brows.
"What are we doing?" She asked.
Jake shrugged. "I just wanted to spend time with you." He confessed.
"Why?" She crossed her arms.
"Because I like you." He admitted.
Jocelyn's features softened. Her arms dropped. She slid her arms around his waist. She rested her chin on his chest. He held her close, looking down on her.
"I like you too." She replied, smiling.
He smiled, leaning down to kiss her. He attached his lips to hers. Their lips worked in sync. They pulled apart, continuing to hold each other.
"Isn't Morgan going to flip?" Jocelyn chuckled.
"No. He told me to get you." Jake grinned.
"Remind me to thank him." She smirked, pecking Jake's lips again.
They separated, still holding hands. Jake swung their hands as they walked back to the party. He opened the door, guiding her inside. He kept a hand on the small of her back. He held onto her as they made it through the bodies.
Jocelyn led him to an area that wasn't as crowded. She turned to face him. He pulled her close and she smiled. Her hands hung around his neck.
"Wanna do something fun?" She quizzed.
"What were you thinking?"
She shrugged. "Maybe we could make out or something." She teased.
"Sounds more than fun." He said, lowering his lips to hers.
