Twenty Five: Don't Matter

Brendan spotted her from across the room. His eyes searched around to make sure no one had caught him staring. First, he saw Jamie standing with some of the guys. That was one worry dropped. Next, he spotted Jordie. He was making out with some blonde so Brendan had no worries there. He saw Kristen talking with some girls. They were all drunk and bubbly. He knew that wasn't a problem either.
Jeff hadn't been seen anywhere tonight. Brendan heard he wasn't even coming. The only person he couldn't find was Ainsley. He searched for her. He spotted Sidney, who was clearly talking to someone. He moved a bit, revealing Ainsley. Brendan exhaled. He was in the clear. He set off for Felicia. When he got to her, he grabbed onto her waist, holding her close to him. He kept his lips near her ear.
"I've been watching you tonight." He whispered.
"A lot of guys have. That doesn't mean I'm interested." She spat back.
He chuckled. "Please, you know you drive me wild." He continued.
"So wild that you had to sleep with a different girl." She rolled her eyes, stepping away from him. "I'm really not in the mood for you to feed me your bullshit so run along."
"Come on! I really miss you, Felicia!" He begged.
"Should've thought of that before I found you,"
He slammed his lips against hers, holding her against the wall. She shoved him away. He stared at her in shock.
"I get it. You're some hot, all-star, hockey playing, douchebag who thinks girls can't say no to him, but here I stand. We're done, Brendan." She explained.
"Who else are you fucking?" He laughed.
"That's rich coming from you." She said. "Just leave me alone, alright?"
Felicia walked off. Brendan had ruined her night. She went into Valerie's kitchen and began to raid the fridge. A hand clamped around her upper arm. She looked up and saw a frowning Jeff. She stood up straight, pulling out of his grasp. She crossed her arms. She let out a shaky breath.
"What do you want?" She hissed.
"I saw what happened with Brendan." He spoke. She rolled her eyes. "Come upstairs and talk. I know he upset you."
She sighed, following him out. He grabbed her hand as he pulled her through people. They made it to the stairs. He stepped back so she could go ahead of him. She began the climb and he walked close behind. They got to Victoria's room and closed the door behind them. Jeff plopped on the bed. Felicia stood at the door. He waved her over but she shook her head.
"We haven't talked in two months and you're expecting everything to be okay?" She laughed.
"No, but I know you're more comfortable around me than you are with Brendan." Jeff stated.
"No, I'm comfortable around my friends." She argued.
"Oh, Felicia, we're still friends. You're stuck with me till the end." He smiled.
"I didn't know friends avoided each other for two months." She shrugged.
"You do realize what was said that night?" He rose from the bed, walking over to her.
"Yeah, I told you how I felt and then you got mad because I didn't always feel that way so then you told me we weren't friends anymore and ditched me on my birthday." She hissed.
"I was mad because I figured there wasn't anything more than a friendship between us if you were just starting to feel that way." He sighed. "But I know that's not true." His eyes met hers.
"And why isn't that true?" She crossed her arms.
"Because anytime I see a guy near you, I want to murder them." He held his hands in a choking motion. "I'm really not a violent guy."
"No, you're not." She said aloud, although she was saying it to herself.
"I just hate seeing you with assholes that I know are going to hurt you." He sighed.
"You hurt me, Jeff." She frowned.
"And I'll do everything in my power to make up for it." He almost whispered. She just stared. "We can have a screaming match or we could do something else just to get past this. Up to you."
Felicia's arms dropped to her sides. Jeff watch from a distance, in case he was about to be assault. She stepped towards him, quickly. Her hands grabbed his face and she brought her lips up to his. He held her close by his waist. She backed him up until the back of his legs his the bed and he fell back on it. She climbed on top of him.
Downstairs, some words were being said. Ainsley and Kristen could hear every word. Ainsley stood, silently, with Sidney's arm draped over her shoulders. He was in the middle of a story and she wasn't about to burst over to the person saying things. Kristen was standing with the pair with Beau at her side. She was doing the exact same thing Ainsley was.
They were pretending to listen to Sidney as they watched and listened to Selena. They could hear her, blatantly, bashing Felicia. Sidney had heard at the beginning and begged them to avoid it. He knew they were listening. He pulled Ainsley into him, wrapping his other arm around her. She pressed against his chest. His chin sat on the top of her head.
"Just stay over here with me and ignore her." He sang.
"I wanna rip out her throat." She explained.
"I agree." Kristen voiced.
"I think the black eye was good enough." He chuckled.
"Nothing will be enough until she shuts her fucking mouth." Ainsley crossed her arms.
"I didn't realize you were this violent." Sid cooed.
She smirked. "Someone has a violence kink." She teased.
Sidney shook his head. Jeff and Felicia came downstairs, both looking smiley as hell. Kristen kicked Ainsley's ass to get her to turn around. She did so, Sid still holding onto her. She spotted the smiling pair coming down the stairs. Felicia froze when she heard mention of her name coming from Selena's mouth.
"What?" She called.
Selena spun around. "Just talking about how you fucked over Brendan for," She looked Jeff up and down. "Jeff."
"You realize he was sleeping with another girl behind my back, right?" Felicia chuckled. Selena shrugged. "You're a joke. Why do you speak?"
"Why do you downgrade?" Selena spat back.
"Oh, act as if Jon didn't downgrade for you." Felicia scoffed.
"Shut up! Shut the hell up!" Valerie screamed as she walked over. "Get along or get out! This stupid feud is so childish! Stop being petty girls and face the facts that you're all the same!"
"I'm nothing like her." Selena hissed, pointing at Felicia.
"Talking about each other nonstop, going after each other at every chance possible, the way you dress, the way you talk, the way you act." Valerie sighed. "Ainsley, Jocelyn, Kaitlyn, and Kristen are the same too. I don't understand how you all think you're so different."
"I see it too." Beau whispered to Kristen.
"I see you getting away from me." Kristen spat back.
"I'm just saying, your friends and you are all kinda mean. It's like you hate Selena for being like you." Beau explained.
"Nothing is wrong with myself or my friends. If you have a problem with them, goodbye." She said, crossing her arms.
"Kristen, c'mon." He sighed as she walked away.
"Oh, you've done it." Sidney laughed.
"You've so done it." Ainsley echoed him.
"What have I done?" Beau whined, unsure of what happened.
"You never compare a girl to another girl." Sidney shook his head.
"It's like rule number one." Ainsley added.
