Thirty Seven: Thanks For Nothing

Ainsley would've already left for Sidney's if she wasn't waiting for Marc to come home. She knew he was going to be long, so she got a ride home from one of the girls. He came inside and wouldn't look at her. She frowned as he walked past her.
"Are you I actually trying to avoid me?" She chuckled. He mumbled in French as he continued walking to the basement door. "It was one bad game, Marc. Just get your head back for the next one."
"My head isn't going to get back in it. They should play Eddie for a bit." Marc argued as he walked down the stairs.
Ainsley followed. "Look, I love Eddie, but he's not as good or as experienced as you. The team needs you." She sighed.
"It's not as simple to just 'get my head' in it as you think." He rose his voice as be dropped on his bed. "You won't get it."
"Then explain it to me." She sat on the edge of his bed. He shook his head. She rolled her eyes, letting out a growl. "I'm going to Sid's. Text me if you need me home." She said, whacking his leg.
She stood up and walked out of his room. She hopped up the stairs, making sure she slammed the basement door when she got to the top. She was mad at Marc. They were supposed to tell each other all their concerns, and he was being an ass. She tossed on her jacket and slid on some shoes before leaving the house. It wasn't a far walk to the Crosby house. She was used to walking there for Kristen. Something in her gut was telling her there was something wrong.
As Ainsley continued to walk, she thought over why Sid had invited her over. She prayed that he wasn't going to try and talk to her about Marc's game. Yeah, she cared about her brother, but she wasn't with Sidney to hear his concerns about Marc. She wondered if it'd be about his game. She knew he was always hard on himself after a loss. She frowned as she got closer to his house. She decided she needed to just be there.
Sid took a deep breath when he heard the knock on his door. He opened it to a smiling Ainsley. He let her inside. She walked into the living room. He closed the door, following her into the room. She turned to him and he took a deep breath. Before he said anything, he pulled her into him. He gave her a tight hug. She questioned the action but hugged him back.
"Let's go upstairs." He spoke as he pulled away.
She trailed behind him as he led her up the stairs. He walked into his room, over to his bed. She stopped at the door way and looked over to Kristen's room. She looked back to Sid.
"I'm gonna say hi to Kris." She told him as she turned away.
"No, Ainsley, please. I really need to talk to you." Sidney begged.
She furrowed her brows at him. He gave her a fake pout. She gave him a dirty look but made her way towards him. She plopped down beside him on his bed. He squeezed her knee while he took a deep breath. He was being awkward and it was making Ainsley uncomfortable.
"Spit it out, Bubs." She laughed, nudging him.
He took a deep breath. As much as he didn't want to do this, he had to for Marc. He, obviously, wasn't about to tell Ainsley that. He was about to lie, which wasn't something he took pride in. He could tell she was getting annoyed by his silence so he decided it was time.
"We, this," He gestured between them. "Needs to end."
She nodded, moving her leg away from his grasp. "Okay." She chimed.
"I'm really sorry. I just can't focus on my game and I'm n,"
"Hey, it's fine." She chuckled.
He cocked a brow at her. "You're not, like, upset?" He asked in confusion.
She shook her head, shrugging. "Should I be?" She have him a confused look.
"Well, I just thought,"
"Sid, seriously. I don't care." She reassured him.
He scoffed. "You don't care?" He spat. She nodded. "That's bull."
He stood up, walking away from her. She just sat, still confused, as he rubbed his hands on his thighs. She didn't understand why he was more worked up than she was. He didn't just get dumped.
"Why is it bull?" She tilted her head to the side.
"Because you've been obsessed with me since we were, like, 8, and I just broke your heart and you d,"
"Woah, you didn't break my heart." She laughed as she stood up.
"I know you've always liked me, Ains." He crossed his arms.
She shook her head. "It was a little crush. I had no intentions of staying or being with you."
"Yeah." He mocked.
Ainsley took a deep breath, rolling her eyes. She stepped towards Sidney. He furrowed his brows as he looked down at her. "Sidney, think about who I am." She began. "What do I do?"
"I don't know." He cried in confusion.
"I fuck the guys on your team." She told him. "I've gotten with majority of them, and there was only one person I hadn't yet. The captain."
"So what you're saying is I was just another kill?" He registered everything.
She nodded. "Just another notch on my bed post." She grinned. "Take care."
She tapped his shoulder as she walked out of his room. She knocked twice on Kristen's door before she stepped inside. Kristen smiled at her. The smile fell when she saw the anger on Ainsley's face. She tapped her bed as Ainsley slammed the door and walked over.
"Your brother is the biggest asshole." Ainsley hissed as she laid on Kristen's bed.
"Why? I thought everything was good!" Kristen pouted.
"Me too. Apparently, I'm distracting his game." Ainsley rolled her eyes.
"I'll kill him." Kristen said as she rose.
"No, I acted like I didn't care." Ainsley stopped her.
"And do you?" Kristen asked as she sat back down.
"Yeah, but I can't let him know that." Ainsley yelped. "Never show a man your weakness."
"That is true." Kristen nodded.
"I played the whole 'you were just another fuck' card. I don't think he liked that." Ainsley smiled at herself.
"That would definitely bruise my poor brother's ego." Kristen laughed at her friend.
"I should've gave him a black eye to match." Ainsley said as she crossed her arms. "God, I never expected Sid to be an asshole like this."
Kristen shrugged. "I always knew."
"Thanks for the warning." Ainsley mock glared.
