No Sense of Direction 037:

Chapter Thirty Seven

"You're insane!" I laughed as I listened to Sidney say that he wanted to try out riding Blaze.

"Oh come on, how hard could it be?" he smiled as he placed his hand on Blaze's neck.

"Very hard, Blaze doesn't really like a lot of people."

"He likes me," Sidney laughed as I saw him start to stare at me.

"He hasn't attacked you, there's a difference between liking and tolerating," I teased and Sidney tried to act like he was hurt but I just laughed.

It's been a few days, and we were back home. The Penguins had beaten the Hurricanes, and then we went out for a drink, and I finally got to meet Heather, Jordan Staal's fiancé. Geno's been out for a few games, but I think after tomorrow's practice, I'll be able to clear him for some contact.

Milan had called me yesterday, and of course, we ended in a fight. I was depressed because I hate fighting with people in general, but he had said some hurtful things. Sidney had seen that I was upset and wanted to make me feel better, so he came home with me after practice.

Sidney was helping me groom Blaze, while Dana was in the office working on some paperwork. I was smiling towards Blaze and gliding my hand down his face. Blaze started to bob his head up and down and I laughed as he started to push his head into Sidney.

"See, he likes me," Sidney said as I felt his hand on top of mine and he looked at me as I smiled towards him.

"Hello, Katrina," I heard and then turned around to nearly fall back from shock at who was standing in the entrance of the barn.

"Uh, Mrs.- Mrs. Lucic, what are you doing here?" I asked completely taken by surprise that Milan's mother was standing in the stable doorway.

"We need to get your wedding dress, sweetie," she said as she walked into the stable and looked around at the horses, "Your wedding is only a few months away."

"I-uh-um," I couldn't produce words, I was still surprised to see her here.

"Well come along, we're going into town," she said as she grabbed my hand and started to pull me.

"But-but-"

"No buts, let's go," she said and then first thing I did was grab Sidney's hand, don't ask me why, because I have no clue.

-Sidney-

'...This is so messed up...' I thought as I sat in a chair next to Mrs. Lucic, '...Why am I here?...'

"Come on, Katrina, hurry up!" the woman yelled and I heard Kat sigh from behind the curtain.

I was out wedding dress shopping, with the girl I'm in love with and her future mother-in-law. I was so uncomfortable right now, but when that curtain opened and I saw Kat standing there, wearing that dress, my heart stopped and my breath was caught in my throat.

"Damn," I breathed and then heard the woman next to me cough and I looked to see Mrs. Lucic glaring at me.

"It's way too tight!" Kat said as she placed her hand on her waist, "I'm having a hard time breathing."

"Beauty is pain," Mrs. Lucic said and I scoffed.

"Yeah, but I need air," Kat said and I stared at her, "Maybe this isn't the one."

"You've tried five on! Pick one already," I sighed and then laid my head in my hands.

"You, be patient or get out!" Mrs. Lucic snapped and I looked at her to see that she was back to glaring at me.

"Mrs. Lucic, please," Kat muttered and I looked at Kat to see that she was looking at me sadly.

"I think I'll see you later, Kat," I said and nodded her head and waved to me.

I stomped out of the store and grabbed my cell phone, calling Marc to see if he'll come and pick me up because my car was still at Kat's.

-Katrina-

"Oh, this is the one!" Mrs. Lucic said as I walked out after trying my ninth dress on, "Milan is going to love this!"

"Yes," I muttered and she looked at me.

"Oh what's wrong, dear?"

"It's nothing," I said and then looked towards the ground and then turned around heading back towards the curtain.

"Katrina! It's that boy, isn't it?" she asked and I turned around to look at her to see that she was glaring at me.

"It's not, Mrs. Lucic," I said and she shook her head.

"Don't lie to me, you've been cheating on Milan! Haven't you?" she growled and I looked at her shocked.

"What?! NO! Never!" I said looking at her wide eyed, "Why would you say that?"

"I see the way that man looks at you!"

"He's just a friend, that's all," I said, starting to feel emotional, "I would never cheat on, Milan."

"Just go get dressed," she muttered and I nodded my head, feeling my body get hot and I was shaking, I was so close to crying.

'...I don't wanna be here, I wanna go home...' I thought as the woman helped me out of the dress and I changed back into my jeans and tank top.

-Sidney-

"You went shopping with her?!" Vero asked and I sighed and nodded my head, "For her wedding dress?!"

"Yes Vero, I went with her and Lucic's mother!"

"That's so messed up," Marc said and I nodded my head.

"And the worst part was like, the woman was looking at me like she knew," I said and the two looked at me, "Like she knew that I liked Kat and didn't want her to marry Lucic."

"Man Sid, there's is serious," Marc said and Vero nodded her head.

"Her mom knows, she's no doubt going to tell Milan," Vero said and I sighed, "When's the next game with Boston?"

"Two weeks I think," I said and Marc nodded his head, "Where are we going?"

"Back to Kat's, you need your car," Marc said and I sighed from the back seat, "And the guys are meeting us there."

"What? Why?"

"Because I told them to," Vero said and I looked at her confused, "You, my friend, need a serious intervention, or at least a better plan to getting her."

"And you would like to have this conversation at her house?" I asked wondering if that was the best idea.

"Yes," Vero said and Marc scoffed.

"You just want to see the horses."

"Shut up," Vero said and then shoved Marc's arm.

-Katrina-

It was an awkward ride home, Mrs. Lucic was on the phone with Milan and I told her to tell him that I would call him later. I could feel her judgmental eyes on me, and I was quite frankly getting sick of it. I dropped her off in the front of my house, where she got in her rental car, and then drove back to her hotel. I sighed in frustration and then pulled into my driveway. I saw all the cars and knew that the guys were here, I didn't really want to deal with them.

I took a deep breath and then got out of my car and walked over towards the stables, knowing that that was where everyone was.

I heard my name and then walked into the stable to see that Kris, Tyler, Geno, Sidney, Matt, Marc, Vero and Dana were standing there. I gave them a smile and then walked passed them and headed over towards Balto, "Hey guys."

"How was shopping?" Vero asked as I watched her walk over towards me.

"Horrible, that woman already hated me before, now she's does more than ever," I muttered against Balto's neck and then sighed.

"What does your dress look like?" Dana asked and I grabbed my phone and went to the picture and then handed it towards her, "Wow, that's beautiful!"

"Yeah, Milan's paying for the whole thing," I said and Vero looked at me.

"Why don't you seem so excited about this?" Vero asked and I sighed and then looked over towards Sidney to see that he was petting Blaze, "You don't want to marry him do you?"

"Is it that obvious?" I asked and Dana and Vero nodded their heads and I groaned against Balto's neck, "I'm screwed."
