How To Perform

After Practice

I head up to the front desk. “Hey Jeff. Sorry I couldn’t talk earlier. I was running late once again.”
“Hey. It’s okay. How was practice?”
“It was good. There were some superficial Girls there and they said that they could do better than me before they even saw me practice. It was a blast to see their expression after I was completely done. When do you get off? Want to get breakfast?”
“I get off in five minutes. Go put your stuff up in your room and then by the time you get back we can go get breakfast.”
“Okay.”
and I head for the elevator.
“Really? The elevator? Come on, you have to keep up your cardio! I’m going to time you. Lets see how good you really are at track and field.”
“Fine”
I say and I head for the stairs.
Right as I open the door he says “Go!” I sprint up the stairs two at a time. I am going really fast and I’m not even tired yet. I take the steps by three I get to my floor and I bolt for my room. I unlock the door and throw my bag in. Lock the door and run for the stairs. I run down the stairs by two. I get back down to the lobby in three minutes flat. As soon as I open the door Jeff says “Wow. that took you a while. Did you get lost?”
“No. I live on the eighth floor. And thats a total of sixteen flights of stairs. And I live in the middle of the hallway. Are you ready? Now I am really hungry.”
I say only half out of breath.
“Yeah. Lets go.” He says as we head out to our favorite breakfast restaurant. Jeff and I have been best friends since elementary school. And we have always stayed close. He met Erin in seventh grade when we had the same lunch. Jeff and Erin were always there for me and I was always there for them. After Ridge and I broke up Erin convinced me to continue Gymnastics and Jeff let me stay with him. We were pretty much inseparable and we still are.
We walked into the restaurant making jokes about people judging people wrong. We took our normal booth and ordered our normal meal. And throughout the meal we kept making jokes. Finally we had to head back. It was four o’clock already. He had to work two shifts today. We parted ways and I had to go get ready for the game.
I take the elevator and go into my apartment. I grab my gym bag and pack some clothing for tomorrow's practice. I put my bag in my closet and start to get ready for the game. I grab my Richards Jersey and my black and orange sneakers with the white laces. I put my sneakers next to my couch and throw my jersey on. I walk into the bathroom and I do a little neutral make up look. Then I walk out into my living room and throw my sneakers on. I watch some TV then head out of the door at six. I get to the box office at six twenty five. I grab my phone and start to text Jeff.
Me: Hey going to a Flyers game! YAY!!
Jeff: YAY! Let me know when they score and who scores. And are you getting the VIP treatment?
Me: Haha. I will and six people have already asked me for my autograph. If Erin doesn’t hurry up then she might get stuck in a line waiting to meet me.
Jeff: Haha. Have fun!
Me: Haha. Here she comes. I will text you during the game. I have to go. Bye!
Jeff: Okay. Bye. Have fun. And maybe you will meet a nice guy there.
Erin walks up and says “Was that Jeff? How is he? And I made sure that I would get here three minutes early so that I wasn’t stuck waiting in a line.”
“Yeah, Hes doing pretty good. And we were actually talking about that.”
I respond as we walk inside. We both buy a root beer and a bag of popcorn to share. We walk to our seats which are right behind the goal. We got to our seats right before practice started. As the Flyers came out Erin and I stood and clapped. The goalie skated over to the goal but saw us and stopped. Then the other players started to skate towards us. Some of the players slowed down as they passed us. Then the whole team started looking at us.

“Erin, I guess that they knew who we are.” I said.
“No. They know who you are. If you were to walk away their eyes would follow you. If I were to walk away their eyes would stay on you. I’m not as famous as you.” She responded. She has always been a great friend for supporting me when I was working to become one of the best. She has never complained about me being more famous than her. When I’m with her I don’t care that I’m famous and shes not.
I just smile and wave to the team. They all waved back. Erin and I sit down and start to make jokes about todays practice. “I heard what you said to those ladies today. They must not like you!” Erin says as we watch the team warm up.
“Yeah. They were saying that they were better than me. HAHA! They said that all I ever do is Run!”
“And all they ever do is sit there and judge other people.”
Erin says with sass.
“And thats all they ever do!” I say and we both start laughing. Practice ends and we see the team leave. As the goalie gets off he says something to one of the managers of the team. The manager writes something down and then calls over one of the ice boys. He hands the ice boy the piece of paper that he wrote on and says something to him. The ice boy skates over to us and slips the paper through the opening that is there for photographers to take pictures. He points at me and skates away. I pick up the paper and start to unfold it.
“What does it say?” Erin asks eagerly.
“I don’t know. I just got it.” I reply.
“Well open it!” Erin practically shouts.
