Cold As Ice

First Date

Jordan rolled over expecting to feel Jake by her side but was disappointed when she realized he was gone. She sighed to herself; she should have known he’d be gone the minute he had the chance to leave, she felt stupid for thinking maybe he wasn’t like all the other guys she hooked up with.
She rolled out of bed and grabbed her dress; she slipped it back on and fixed her hair using the mirror hung up on the wall. She sat on the corner of the bed as she put her heels back on, she felt a bit nauseous as she walked towards the door, maybe she shouldn’t have drank last night. She swung the door open and took a few steps back as she came face to face with Jake.
“Jake, I thought you left.” She moved away from the door as he walked back into the room.
“I went to get you Advil,” He held up the bottle of Advil to show her, “Besides why would I leave a gorgeous naked girl alone?” He smirked.
“I’m sure you’ve done it before.” She crossed her arms over her chest and starred him down, she was smarter than she looked, and maybe this wouldn’t be so easy for Jake. He decided to ignore her comment and pass her the bottle of Advil instead.
She grabbed a pill and swallowed it dry, “Where’s the bathroom?” She asked not knowing her way around the house.
“Oh, you don’t want to go in there. I accidentally walked in on Ariel and Sid still going at it.” Jake laughed.
“Still?” Jordan was shocked that they both had the mentality to last so long; she was still tired from last night’s festivities.
Jake nodded his head, “Do you want to go out for breakfast?” He asked, Jordan thought about it, what harm could going out for breakfast do? She was also hungry; she nodded her head and followed him out the door.
They decided to walk to the Tim Hortons down the street; Jordan got weird looks as she walked down the street on a chilly March day wearing a short party dress and a leather jacket. Jake reassured her that she looked fine and held her body close to his as they walked.
Jordan took a bite of her breakfast sandwich as she looked out the window, she had school tomorrow and was dreading it, she had such a great weekend and she didn’t want it to end.
“What are you thinking about?” Jake asked as he watched her look out the window, she turned to him and looked confused. He laughed a bit before repeating the question.
“I’m just thinking about school.” She shrugged it off not wanting to talk about school on her few days off.
“What do you want to be?” Jake asked, Jordan told him about her dream of being a sports marketer, he was impressed.
“I was hoping you’d try and go pro. You’re an amazing hockey player.” He complimented, Jake thought about when he first saw Jordan, he thought she was an amazing player and was even more impressed when he found out she was a girl. She made the other guys and even himself look like a fool.
“Hockey is just something I do for fun.” Jordan waved off his compliment as her cheeks began to burn, she never thought she was as amazing as he made it seem, and she definitely didn’t think she was good enough to go pro.
“I used to say that too. Growing up everyone was so competitive; they wanted to be the best player in the world. While I just did it for fun, and look where it got me.” Jake leaned back and smiled.
“Sitting in Tim Hortons with a girl.” Jordan scoffed.
“No, sitting in Tim Hortons with a gorgeous girl.” He corrected her and sent her a wink; she blushed and looked out the window not being able to look him in the eyes, this was the second time in the last hour where he called her gorgeous. Jake just smirked to himself.
“So does this count as our first date?” Jake asked, Jordan looked at him and chewed on her bottom lip nervously.
“I guess.” She smiled shyly. It had been two days and they were already on a date, this was going to be easier than Jake thought.

Kayla and Ariel sat on the couch in their living room discussing their night; it didn’t take long before Beau grabbed Kayla and brought her upstairs for some fun. Ariel explained the story about how Jake had walked in on her and Sid going at it, they both laughed, it wasn’t the first time Ariel had been caught in the moment, nor did she care.
They both looked up from the couch as they heard the front door open, Fiona walked in her heels clicking against the wooden floor, she smiled at her friends.
“Did you?” She asked not even having to finish the question; this was a common routine after they went out for a few drinks. The girls both nodded and laughed.
“Let me guess, Sid and Beau?” Fiona asked as she slipped off her heels and joined them on the couch.
“Yeah, and I saw you going upstairs with James. How was it?” Ariel asked, if she hadn’t been with Sid the whole night she’d probably try getting with James whether Fiona liked it or not.
“Honestly, best I’ve ever had.” Fiona admitted, she had slept with countless guys over the years but none of them compared to James.
“I knew he’d be good in bed, you could tell just looking at him.” Ariel spoke. Fiona rolled her eyes.
“Oh well he leaves today so I’m never seeing him again.” Fiona shrugged, Ariel and Kayla both looked over at Fiona so quickly they almost got whiplash.
“What!” They both shouted. Fiona looked at them both confused.
“They’re leaving?” Ariel asked.
“Yeah, they go back to Pittsburgh today, they were only in Toronto for two days because of their game.” Fiona explained what James had told her last night.
“Well this sucks.” Kayla mumbled she had hoped she’d be able to see Beau again; she had really grown to like him over these past two days.
“Did you see Kenzie and Pat? They were practically fucking each other on the dance floor.” Ariel changed the subject trying to hide the fact that she was disappointed.
“I heard she walked in on Jake and Jordan or something like that.” Kayla explained, she never could get her facts straight.
“Jake and Jordan? Again?” Ariel asked did no one listen to her one night stand rules; she needed to have a serious talk with her friends.
Kayla nodded, “They also spent like all day together yesterday. I think there might be something going on.”
“I doubt it; Jordan will probably just make him cry or something.” Ariel joked.
“I’ve heard a lot about him, I think she might end up being the one crying.” Fiona interjected. Jordan was a tough girl, she wasn’t the type to cry over guys, she was usually the one making them cry, it was something she learned from hanging out with Ariel for so long.
“Did you know Victoria and Geno went out for ice cream; she didn’t even sleep with him!” Kayla explained.
“I heard it was frozen yogurt.” Fiona corrected, Kayla rolled her eyes at her friend, frozen yogurt and ice cream are practically the same thing.
“What a prude.” Ariel scoffed, “What about Sam and that guy Jon did she sleep with him?” Ariel asked.
“I saw them leaving the party together so I don’t know.” Kayla had winked at Steph as she made her way upstairs with Beau; Steph was putting on her jacket as she was getting ready to leave.
Ariel’s phone buzzed in her hand, she looked down at the text from an unknown number and immediately got up, “I have to go.” She grabbed her things and left without an explanation.
