Miles are Getting Longer
7 months pregnant. I felt like a small planet. It wasn't like any other parts of my body were any bigger, just my stomach.
I was staring in the mirror at my enormous stomach, while Patrick and some of his teammates played x box downstairs.
I pulled on a sweater and leggings, and bent over to pick up the laundry basket. Damn, I said putting a hand on my back. Simple tasks, were getting harder and harder, day by day. My stomach got in the way of everything, and the doctor recommended I be put on bed rest. I couldn't bear the thought of just lying around in bed all day, that just wasn't in my personality.
I threw in the laundry and made my way downstairs. I had an ultra sound and it was a game day for Patrick, so unfortunately he wouldn't be able to come. Abby and I decided to go together so I wouldn't be alone.
"I wish I could come" he said kissing me, as we stood in front of the door.
"Me too." I said, kissing him back.
Abby picked me up around three, for my three thirty appointment. "So how's it been?" she said.
"The morning sickness is a little better, now its just the size." I said.
"I can imagine" she said, "My back killed with one, I can only imagine two." we laughed.
The ultra sound had gone, routinely, I placed the picture into the time line book, we had of all of them, from each month. Dayna Seabrook had suggested idea at the baby shower about a month ago.
When I got home Patrick, and his friends were gone, they had an away game in Buffalo. It was tough being alone, and this pregnant. Patrick and I decided that about a month before my due date, April 15th, Erica would come stay with us. She had a week off from work, we were slowly realizing that my due date wasn't far off. As it got closer and closer, I was getting more nervous and anxious. The Blackhawks had a string of games scheduled for the same week, if Patrick wasn't there for the delivery I didn't know how I would get through it.
...
My pregnancy was at its typical rate, morning sickness, back pain, swollen feet, until one morning I woke up in a state of panic.
I was about 8 and a half months along, my stomach was bigger than ever. I woke up on my side when I felt a strange, liquid below me.
I lifted the sheets to see I was lying in a pool of blood.
My face was clear white, as I stared down at the dark liquid.
"Patrick!" I said shaking him violently,
"Wha-what?" He said sitting up, "oh my God!" he jumped up, I felt my eyes roll back in my head, before I fell lifelessly back onto the bed.
"KYLIE!"
and thats the last thing I remember.
Patrick's POV:
I stood in Northshore medical center, pacing back and forth. Sharpy, Tazer, Shawzie, Bicks, Seabs, and their wives and girlfriends were the only ones who had made it to the hospital yet.
"Kane." the nurse yelled.
"Yes," I said turning on my heels, "Come with me please." I followed the nurse down a long hallway.
"You're wife is under alot of medication," the nurse said as we stood outside the door,
"But is she okay?" I cut in sharply, sounding more vicious than I had initially intended.
"This time yes, but she can't keep putting so much stress on her body, she's petite, as i'm sure you've noticed, if she over does it she could easily endanger her own life, and the children's. You have to tell her to slow down, for all three of their health."
She opened the door and let me in,
"Ky" I said picking up her hand and sitting on the chair pulled close to her bed.
"Kylie?" she didn't move, her eyes weren't open, her face had no color. "Kylie, I need you to wake up, because I need you and you are the only thing in my life worth fighting for. Kylie, please," I felt a tear running down my face, the thought of losing her and both my unborn children was too much to bear. "Please Kylie, I love you."
Her eyes began to open weakly. "Patrick?" she whispered.
...
I was discharged from the hospital the next day, Patrick had made the decision to hang back from the team when they went to Buffalo, and meet up with them for the Rangers game tonight.
"Are you sure you're gonna be alright?" Patrick said sitting next to me on the couch.
"Come on Pat," Abby said, "We've got this." Abby, and Chaunette had offered to stay at Patrick and I's townhouse while the Blackhawks were on a ten day, eastern tour.
"I hate leaving you like this." he said.
"I know" I said, placing a hand on his cheek, "Ill be fine, I promise." I said kissing him on the cheek.
"Call me if you feel weird, or different or anything" he said getting up, he kissed me on the cheek, "I love you Kyls"
"I love you too."
Abby's POV:
Patrick picked up his bag and headed to the door, "Take care of her Ab," he said.
"You know we will, " I said closing the door behind him.
The whole situation was terrifying. Both my pregnancies, had been routine, some back pain, and some morning sickness, but nothing like what Kylie was going through. I figured it was because she was so small, and petite. Still it must have been difficult to learn to deal with the symptoms.
"Thank God for you two." Kylie said, "I think Patrick might have had a heart attack at the thought of leaving me alone."
"You know we love you." Chaunette said hugging Kylie, "Besides this will be fun." Chaunette added.
"Yeah, we can watch lifetime, and relax." I said, Madelyn and Saidie were staying at home with my mother, who had flown in, she jumped at the chance to spend more time with them, I missed them but they would be by tomorrow.
Kylie's POV:
I tried not to show it, but I was terrified. The whole situation scared the hell out of me. What the hell was I thinking? I was 5"4 and 110 pounds. What made me think I could carry two more humans?
It was great being with Chaunette and Abby, but right now, I really wanted Patrick.
The doctors had put me on bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy, my due date was about one week away. I was terrified, it hadn't really resignated with me that I had to push two people out of me.
But the idea of getting back into my normal body sounded nice. It had been a long, tough pregnancy, nothing through this pregnancy had really been enjoyable. Even the holidays seemed difficult to get through with my enormous baby bump.
The next day, Abby's mother dropped by with Madelyn and Saidie.
"Mommy!" Madelyn screamed running into Abby's arms. "Hi sweetie!" Abby said picking her up. I cant wait to have that, I thought.
"Mommy, her stomach looks like your used to!" Madelyn yelled pointing at my stomach.
"Yes,Mads," Abby said, "Aunt Kylie is going to have a baby."
"yay!" she screamed throwing her arms up.
...
A few more days passed and I crawled closer and closer to my due date.
soooo good! and I would totally read about Jonathan and MacKenna!
