You Just Might Get it All

"Daddy!" The boys screamed running into Patrick's arms, he picked them both up in one motion. After two long weeks, three tough losses, and two hard fought wins, Patrick was finally home, and with just four days until my due date.

He came up to me in the doorway, and pulled me tightly before kissing me very hard. We stood there for a few minutes, gazing into each other, before the boys ran up and clung to Patrick's legs nearly knocking him over.

He laughed picking Cody up, upside down as Cody and Shayne giggled out of control. It felt so good to have Patrick back.

We spent the next few days relaxing together, and making up for lost time.

Patrick and I we're lying in bed, on Thursday night, Patrick was talking about getting another dog, to be with Charlie since the four of us were rarely home.

"I think both the boys would like it," he said, I was vaguely paying attention, when I felt a strong pain in my lower half, I ignored it at first and stared at the clock, as Patrick continued talking,

58, 59 and there it was again, I thought.

"Patrick," I said putting my hand on his shoulder, "It's time."

"So you agree?" he said,

"No, i mean its time." I said.

"Oh, oh, OH!" He said, jumping up. It was almost ten o'clock at night, Shawzie and Chaunette were on standby to come watch the boys, they arrived less than ten minutes after we called them.

"Good luck!" Chaunette yelled as we left for the hospital. "Go get em'" Shawzie added.

The ride to the hospital was quick, there weren't too many people on the road.
...
"Alright Mrs. Kane, on three, one two, three." A few seconds passed before a beautiful, little girl was cleaned and spread across my chest, wrapped in a pink blanket.

"Do we have a name for our little princess yet?" The doctor asked.

Patrick and I looked at each other blankly.

"Take all the time you need and congratulations." The doctor said, shutting the door behind her.

Patrick ran his hand over the baby's little head, she was just born, but already had a few whispy, bleach blonde hairs.

"What should we name her?" he said staring down at her.
I thought for a moment, and then a name popped into my head, at random.

"How about Emily?" I asked.

"I like it, she looks like an Emily."

The doctors came back soon, to do footprints, fingerprints, and her birth certificate.

On February 14th, our first little girl became Emily Rose Kane.

At only twenty minutes old, I had to admit, she was gorgeous. She had the lightest, blonde hair I had ever seen, and crystal blue eyes. My heart melted as Patrick rocked her back and forth, she was so tiny and delicate in his arms.

Patrick's POV:
Wow, I thought.
This was my little girl, she was so tiny, so delicate. It felt different than it had with the boys. Of course every guy dreams of having a son just like him, and I was lucky enough to have two, but a little girl, this was different.

Her big, blue eyes stared up at me as I held her in my arms. Twenty minutes in and she already had me wrapped around her finger.

Around ten o'clock the next morning, we called Shawzie and Chaunette, and they decided to bring the boys in.

"Think we can handle one more?" I asked Kylie, as she stared down at Emily. She looked up, man she was beautiful, ever since she had the boys she had a motherly glow that never seemed to leave.

"I hope so," she said, "Theres no turning back now." I moved to the chair closer to her.

"I wouldn't want to" I said, "Me neither" she said, as I leaned in to kiss her.

How did the two of us make three kids? It was mind blowing.
...
Kylie's POV:

Andrew and Chaunette came by with the boys are twelve o'clock, Patrick's mom was in mid flight to Chicago, so they wouldn't be on baby duty much longer.

"Thank you guys so much!" I said hugging them both.

"No problem, anytime." Chaunette said, "You know we love em" Shawzie said.

The nurse knocked on the door, and wheeled the baby in.

"Oh my gosh" Chaunette said, "She's beautiful."

"Do you want to hold her?" I said, lifting her out of the cart.

"Are you sure?" Chaunette said.

"Of course, here, sit down." I said placing the baby in her arms.

"She's like a doll." Chaunette said, amazed.

Shawzie's POV:
Holy crap, I thought. Chaunette had been amazing with the boys, she was a natural with kids. And seeing her face light up while she held Emily, well, it made me happy.

It had amazed me how much Kaner had changed. In six short years he went from an immature kid, who couldn't stop partying, to a husband married to an amazing woman, and a Dad of three. The guy had it all, and I realized these were definatley the things I wanted too.

I had always known I wanted a life with Chaunette, but sooner rather than later?

Kylie's POV:
"Come meet your sister guys" I said laying Emily on the bed in front of me.

"She's little." Cody said.

We sat Cody and Shayne on a chair, and layed Emily in their arms. The two boys beamed as we took picture after picture.

Around four o'clock, Chaunette and Andrew had to get going. "Thanks for everything man," Patrick said to Andrew, as they quickly hugged, "No problem man, congrats."

I hugged Chaunette, "Congrats, she's beautiful." Chaunette said.

Patrick decided to take the boys downstairs so they could run around a bit more, and not be so cooped up. I was left in the room, just me and my daughter.

"Well Emily," I said, sitting her up against my legs, that were bridged in front of me, "Its a crazy life we're bringing you into. Your Daddy is a great guy, and you have him wrapped around your little finger already" I said, kissing her little baby hand, "And I know you and your brothers will fight like all siblings do, but they will protect you from anything, I promise. Me and your Daddy love you so much," I said pulling her into my arms, "And we're gonna make sure your always happy, we promise." I kissed her little cheek.

I thought back to just ten years ago, it seemed like a faded memory now. I had just graduated college, I was setting out to be a power woman. How did one guy flip my entire world into the direction it was meant to go all along? If I hadn't gone out that night, if my friends and I had gone to a different bar, if Patrick hadn't spilled that beer, we never would have spoke and none of this would have happened.Thank God it did, I thought,Thank God.
...
The boys came back upstairs about an hour later, hospital cafeteria sandwiches for everyone in hand. We ate, as I Emily napped on and off.

Around seven o clock, we heard someone shouting in the hallway, "Don't worry i'm coming, i'm coming" echoed from outside. The door burst open, "Don't worry, Grandma's here!" She flailed her arms out, Patrick's Dad stood behind her, mortified.

"Grandma!" The boys ran at her, and she swooped them both up.

"Hello, hello!" She said, she gave both the boys a kiss and set them down. She came over to see Emily, "Oh my.." she said staring at the little girl, "She's precious." I handed the bundled, baby to her as she sat down in a chair, "Look at those eyes." she said.

"Congratulations kids." Patrick's Dad said, hugging Patrick and I.
...
A few days later, we were able to bring Emily home. Patrick and I were reasonably nervous, after what happened last time, we weren't taking any chances. The doctors escorted us out of the hospital the back way.

The boys were at home with Patrick's parents, the boys came flying out of the house when we the car pulled up.

I carried Emily's baby seat inside and straight upstairs to bring her to her new room. Kylie's room was powder pink, and to be honest was quite the princess room.

I unbuckled her from her baby seat and placed her in her crib, she completed the scene perfectly.
...
Life quickly gave us a kick in the ass a few days after we got back from the hospital, and with two, two and a half year olds, and a newborn, it wasn't getting any easier.

"Cody! Come on!" Patrick yelled up the stairs, the boys had an array of practices to attend. Patrick decided to take them alone, while I stayed home with Emily. "He's only two," I reminded Patrick as I kissed him goodbye. The boys were off to practice and it was just me and Emily.

"Soon enough you'll be on skates." I said kissing her cheek.

There was about two months left in Patrick's regular season. The Hawks would make another run at the cup before the now, 5 of us made our way back to the lake house. I was excited to bring Emily back to lake house, many of our first memories with her would be made there, and I couldn't wait.
