Star Crossed

"So," Sidney trailed off on the phone after we said our hello'a," when is your doctors appointment?"

"as soon as we get back" I said loudly, so he could hear me through the speakerphone.

i was in the bathroom of my hotel room, James had left about a half an hour ago to pack all of his things for the flight back to pittsburgh tomorrow morning. I was fixing my make up before the two of us went to the mall nearby. I covered my eyelashes in another layer of her black mascara and instantly noticed the transformation they made, becoming long and dark. I put back the mascara and stood looking at my reflection in the mirror. I looke at my face, my hair, and of course, my stomach. I thought about the little life growing inside of me and turned to the side lifting my shirt to reveal a small fraction of my stomach. Nothing was there. No bump yet. Not even a small one.

"Savannah?" I heard Sidney ask, snapping me back to reality, "are you still there?"

"Yes" I smiled at the tone in his voice.

"did you tell James?" He asked repeating his question.

"not yet," I sighed, "I'm waiting till I'm positively sure" I looked down at the engagement ring James gave me, to ensure he would be there for me through anything. Hopefully this was one of those things.

"well didn't the test ensure that?" Sidney laughed.

"not completely" I said smiling again.

"so you're going by yourself?" Sidney asked.

"where?" I said wrinkling my eyebrows.

"to the doctors" he said simply.

"I guess so," I said walking out to start packing some of my things.

"if you want, I could go with you" he said.

"you don't have to do that" I said cocking my head to the right.

"I want to" Sidney said simply.

"you'd miss practice" I added trying to imply that I didn't need him there.

"fine, but at least tell me how it goes" he said sighing.

"of course I will" I said smiling at how caring he was.

"what do you think boy or girl?" He asked.

"I'm thinking girl," I smiled," or at least I'm hoping, what do you think?" I asked him

"Boy" he laughed, "besides I don't think Nealer could handle a girl"

"I don't know," I laughed, "I'm sure he would love the tea parties, princesses, and getting his nails done" I smiled just thinking of James with a daughter, our daughter.

"I bet that's all he wants" Sidney said laughing.

"I guess well have to wait and see" I said smiling at the thought of James, Just James. My James.
