Star Crossed
Chapter 5
"Slow down if you need to, slow down"
"What happened?" Lucy said rushing towards the door. "Got hit with the puck" The man said simply.
"Lay him down." Lucy said pointing to the medical table. "Where'd you get hit?" She asked immediately turning around to get towels and anything she could possibly need.
"Hand" Robert Bortuzzo said groaning in pain. "Alright on a scale of 1 to 10, how bad does it hurt?" She asked lifting his injured hand gently so she could see it. "10" He winced as she touched his hand, "definite 10" he said. "We need to take an X-Ray," She said nodding to me. I nodded back, getting ready to set everything up.
"Its a clean break" She said looking at the x-ray "No doubt about it. Ride with him to the hospital" She added. I nodded, not wanting to start any type of argument, especially not on the night of a home game.
It was a quiet ride to the hospital, no one really talking. That was, until we got there. The doctors had put a cast on him and he was now just laying quietly.
"So you and Sid, huh?" he asked surprising me. "What?" I asked playing dumb. "That's what he told us all. Wasn't really a shocker to anyone, except for Neal. " "What did he say?" I asked. "He was just shocked, said you and Sid wouldn't work out anyway." I didn't know what exactly to think, I was hoping James would never find out or not until I had at least figured out how I felt about Sidney. "Don't worry Nealers an idiot anyway..." Once again, I just nodded. Bortuzzo then continued to go on about the game, his hand, and anything else he could think of before the pain killers started to kick in, causing him to fall asleep.
I soon left leaving Bortuzzo in the hands of some other people from the medical department. I went back to the arena to find Lucy standing in the medical room by herself watching the game. I entered quietly, hoping she wouldn't notice. I put my keys down, causing her to turn around. "You missed it" was all she said before turning back to face the TV. "Missed what?" I asked, surprised she was actually being civil. "James got a hat trick," She said this time turning fully around to face me, leaning her arms against the counter. "I know you two have a thing or something like that...." She said, "I just wanted to apologize for being a complete bitch over the past few days," she laughed, "I know your first couple days haven't exactly been good" "I can't complain" I laughed as the crowd erupted into cheers signaling the fact that we won the game 6-2.
"Are you coming out with the team?" She asked me. "I don't know," I laughed. "You definitely should," She smiled warmly at me.
"Hey there hotshot, great game" I smiled as James walked out of the locker room. He ignored me and just continued to walk past me. "Jay?" I asked "What?" He asked stopping dead in his tracks and turning around. "Good game" I said in shock by his sudden attitude. "Oh you were talking to me? Not Sid?" he said faking shock. "Yes?" I asked confused. "Well you better go tell him too, it seems like a lot of things you told me you like to tell him too." He said he turned around and walked out of the building.
"Savannah?" "Hi Sid!" I smiled at him going over to hug him. "Are you ready?" He asked looking at me. "Only if you are," I said kissing him on the cheek before we started to walk towards the players exit. "Good thing I'm ready then" He smiled, wrapping an arm around my waist.
"You look amazing" he said grabbing my hand, not taking his eyes off the road. "You too" I smiled glancing over at him. "So where are we going?" I asked, "I figured we'd just do something casual and hang out with the rest of the guys." he said still looking straight forward, one hand on the steering wheel, the other holding mine. "Alright" I smiled not really thinking about this. "In fact, here we are" he said pulling into a parking space along the sidewalk. I recognized the bar we were at, it was the one I went to with Lucy on my first day. That was when i remembered. Lucy. We just made up and now she's going to see me with Sidney. Great. I walked into the bar, Sidney on my heels. The first person I saw was James. Then when he turned I saw Lucy. Sitting on his lap. "Hey guys" Sid smiled sitting down on one of the barstools. "Heyyyy" Lucy slurred, clearly so drunk she could barely see anyone, much less who she was talking to. "Sid" James nodded at him, saying hello. "What's going on between you two?" Sid laughed. "We're getting married," Lucy slurred again, "Who would have thought I'm marrying James fucking Neal?" "Not me that's for sure" I mumbled taking a sip of my drink. 'What was that?" James asked rudely. "C'mon James," Lucy said cupping his face in her hands, "We need to start planning the wedding" "Yeah James, get with it" Sidney laughed, reaching for my hand under the table. More and more of the team came in, I greeted each one of them with a smile and a polite "Hello". James and Lucy were absorbed in "planning the wedding" with small things like the color purple, on the beach, what the cake would look like. That was when i realized what he was doing. Everything he was saying was sounding so familiar. Our Wedding. Of course it never happened, We had the details all planned out, that was until he got transferred. But he was planning our wedding with her. It all clicked and I became Furious. I knew he hadn't changed. He was still the same ass he always was. It was when he mentioned the daisies that I snapped. He knew daisies were my favorite flower. He gave them to me every Sunday when we were together. There was no reason for it, it was just something he always did. I pulled him aside dragging him towards the bathrooms, "What the hell are you doing?" I confronted him. "What? You can have a date, but i can't?" he asked smiling cockily. "You and I both know that," I said pointing in the direction of Lucy, "Is not a date." I finished crossing my arms. "What is your problem anyway?" he asked, "You left me remember?" "I don't have a problem." I said defensively. "Then If you don't mind, I'm going back over" he said politely. I grabbed his arm trying to stop him. He turned around to face me but I had nothing to say. I was trying to think of a way to stall him, but nothing would come. That was until I knew exactly what to do. I leaned in to him and grabbed him harshly, pressing my lips on to his.
Both his hands immediately went to my back, one sliding down quickly.
Mine however, went straight to his hair. As soon as I kissed him, he kissed me back. The more we kissed, the better I felt. I forgot about Lucy. I forgot about the team. I forgot about Sidney.
He slowly pushed me into the mens bathroom before turning and locking the door. He turned back to me smiling, before grabbing my waist roughly and shoving me against the door before pressing his lips to my neck. He kissed down my neck to my collarbones as I let out a little moan with each one. I could feel the smile forming on his lips after every noise. But that wasn't the only thing of his I could feel. He lifted his head to look at me with lust in his eyes while flashing me that cocky grin of his, "I knew you were jealous."
