Star Crossed
Chapter 8
"I don't think I can eat anymore" I laughed leaning back in the seat.
"I don't blame you" He laughed. "Ready to go?" He asked standing up slowly. "Yup" I said pulling my coat over my shoulders as we walked out the restaurants front door. We talked and laughed lightly and carelessly as we walked towards my car. He opened the door for me as we approached my car and we said our goodbyes.
As soon as I got in the car, I pulled out my phone and looked for James's number.
"Hey! How's it going momma?" He asked, "Jake say hi to mom" "Hi mom" he mumbled. "What do you need?" James asked chuckling at Jake. "Did you talk to your mom?" I asked him. "Yes" I could hear the smile in his voice, "She said she's be happy to spend the week with her only grandchild. Only problem is, he might be completely spoiled when we get back" he laughed. "As if he isn't already" I said laughing along with him. "How did you enjoy your day off?" "It was amazing, thank you" I smiled. "Good," he paused, "So what time should I drop Jake off?" "Anytime is good" I said pulling out of the parking spot. "Alright, I'll drop him off, and then I promise I will be out of your sight." He laughed. "Okay" I laughed as I turned a corner.
"Mommy!" Jake yelled as he came to hug me, James following close behind him."Hey there" I smiled at him. "Need anything before I go?" James asked. "You're really trying to get away from us, huh?" I laughed, kissing the top of Jake's head before he went to watch TV. "Well I figured you'd be doing something with Sid tonight" He said rudely. "Well I'm not" I laughed. "I have a date anyway" He said quietly. "You have a date?" I said literally laughing out loud. "I do" He said turning to walk towards the door. "With who?" I asked curiously. "Lucy" He said.
Immediately I felt jealous. Not exactly knowing what to say. I wasn't sure why I was jealous. I had Sidney.
"Have fun" Was all I said, smiling sadly. "Thanks" He said quietly, "I should get going" he said simply. All I did was nod as he opened the door and walked out.
The next day I opened the front door to see both James, and his mother. "Hi!" I smiled as she pulled me in for a hug. "I haven't seen you in forever sweetie!" I laughed as she hugged me tightly, James standing there awkwardly. "Jake!" She said as soon as she saw him come around the corner, dressed in pajamas, rubbing his eyes. Jake just smiled as she came over and hugged him. As soon as she was done she pulled out gift after gift giving each of them to him.
"Need help with your bags?" James asked as he walked up behind me. "If you could, yeah" I said still looking at his mom and Jake. "No problem." He said grabbing them and taking them outside to my car.
He made 2 trips before all the bags were out by the car. "Ready?" he asked as he came in. "I guess" I sighed, not wanting to leave Jake. "Goodbye, bud" James said lifting Jake up to hug him goodbye. "Bye mommy, bye daddy" Jake said leaning over to hug me while James was still holding him. We continued to say goodbye for about 15 more minutes, none of us wanting to leave.
We drove to the arena, everyone meeting there. When I got out of my car, I saw Sidney leaning against his, waiting for me. "Hey there gorgeous" He smiled at me, pulling me in for a hug. "Hey there hot shot" I smiled up at him, leaning my head against his chest. "Are you ready for your first road trip with the Pittsburgh Penguins?" he asked putting his arm around my waist, walking towards the arena. "I kind of have to be" I laughed at him. "But that doesn't mean you can't be excited" He said kissing my head. "Who wouldn't be excited to spend the week with you?" I asked smiling up at him as he smiled down at me.
