Shailene's POV
I reach down into my pocket and pull out my phone, turning up the volume on my headphones. I hum quietly to myself as I walk around the almost empty shoppers. I walk into the medical section and get some KT Tape for my leg. I hope it'll help. People have said this stuff works really well but I've never tried it. I hope it works, it's pretty expensive. Who came up with these prices anyways?
"oof" I groan as I bump into someone. I stumble backwards and fall right on my butt. How did I possibly bump into someone? There's barley anybody here.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry" the man I bumped into says. He extends his hand and I grab it, getting up.
He has a strong grip and his hands are soft. He pulls me up effortlessly and I notice his arms. Even from under his sweater you can see that there's muscle there.
"Thanks" I say "don't worry it was my fault."
Once I'm steady, I get a good look at his face. He has big sparkling eyes. Okay maybe I didn't pay attention to his whole face. But Im getting lost in his eyes.
"Are you sure you're alright?"he asks again.
"Yea yea I'm good." I brush off my pants. There wasn't even anything there. What am I doing.
I walk to the cash and I pull out my wallet.
"Oh no" I whisper. I forgot my money at home. My heart starts to beat out of my chest.
Then the guy who I bumped into walked up to me.
"Hey, do you want me to pay for that?" he asks.
I sigh. "No no it's okay."
"You don't have money." He points out.
I put my head in my hands. "Okay okay fine but I need to pay you back somehow." I say.
"You can pay me back by coming out to lunch with me." He says.
I nod reluctantly. He pulls out twenty dollars and hands it to the cashier,giving me the change.
"You seriously giving me the change?" I ask. He nods.
We walk out of shoppers and I go to walk to the bus stop when he grabs my shoulder.
I spin around and for the first time I see how tall he is. He's at least a head bigger than me. He hands me a paper.
"Here's my number. You still have to pay me back, remember?" He says smiling. To my surprise its not a joking smile. It looks sincere.
"What's your name?" He asks.
"Shailene. And you're... You look... I feel like I've seen you before." I answer. It's true. I just can't put my finger on it.
"I'm James." He answers.
"Oh! I know you. Well obviously not like personally or anything. You're on the leafs right? You're James van Riemsdyk."
James smiles. "In the flesh."
Oh that's cool. I just met a leaf. And now I have his number.
"you know, Shailene, I'd like to see you again sometime. And I think a couple of the guys might want to meet you too."
I smile. James was so... Chill. I'm not sure how else to describe it in one word. He made me feel so comfortable.
"Alright. I'd like that." I answer.
"So I'll see you later?" He asks.
"I'll text you." I smile.
He smiles back and turns to go to his car.
James Van Riemsdyk. Wow. I just met him.
I turn and walk to the bus stop and on the bus, I pull out the sheet of paper James gave me. I put him in my contacts and send him a message
he replies almost instantly and we make plans to go out tomorrow for lunch. Be says hes bringing a friend and he wants me to bring someone too.
I smile. I might actually become friends with one of the biggest players on the team.
