Evgeni’s POV
I knew it was too early for Jessie to be awake so I climbed the side fence and went through the back door knowing she would leave it unlocked for me.

“Jessie!” I called out as I walked in to be greeted by my two favorite dogs.
“Hey,” I knelt down and hugged them both getting licked all over my face.

“Thanks you two,” I stood back up and headed over to the kitchen sink to wash my face.
“Where’s your mummy?” I looked down at Sebastian as he followed me wagging his tail with excitement.
*Woof* he ran off into the lounge room so I followed him this time.

“Poor thing,” I laughed pitifully as I found her sound asleep on the floor hugging an empty bottle of whiskey.
“Jessie,” I knelt down next to her, “wake up,” I shook her shoulder lightly and pried the bottle from her grasp but she didn’t move.
“Jessie,” I shook her again a little harder but she was out cold. She had finished off my bottle of whiskey all on her own after all so I didn’t know why I expected her to wake up.

“Come on,” I picked her up when I heard her moan, “meant to go to bed silly,” I ran my hand over her head as she buried her face into my chest.

I put her into bed and she curled up around all the pillows, “go sleep,” I brushed her hair from her face and kissed her forehead.
She mumbled something that sounded a lot like stay so I slipped into bed with her knowing I could use a good sleep too.

This time she didn’t abandon the pillow for me though like she normally did, instead she pulled away when I reached for her to cuddle me. I tried not to think into it too much as she fell back asleep, she didn’t look to well so I let her be.

I wasn’t sure how long I had fallen asleep but when I woke up Jessie wasn’t by my side. What was wrong with her? She always stayed close by me. I had only been gone just over a week and now she was pulling away from me. I don’t know.

“Jessie,” I walked out into the lounge room to find her curled up on the couch, “what’s wrong?” I sat down and put her feet in my lap.
“Don’t,” she looked really upset and pulled her knees up to her chest.
“Jessie,” I moved to sit on the floor next to the couch, “is something wrong?” I ran my hand through her hair.
“I just don’t feel well,” she closed her eyes and tried to rest.
“Let me help,” I lent over and kissed her forehead, “you want drink?”
“Ok,” she sighed looking defeated.

I headed into the kitchen to get her a cold glass of water when she followed me in looking upset.
“Evgeni,” she stood in front of me drowned in my sweets and jumper and I wanted nothing more than to just hold her until she felt better.

Jessie’s POV
I didn’t exactly know how to tell him about Liam but I couldn’t take ignoring him like this for much longer. It was too hard to see his hurt face every time I pushed him away.

“Evgeni,” I stood in the middle of the dining room looking at him as he poured me a glass of water.
“Yeah?” he walked over with a little smile tugging at the edges of his mouth and wrapped his arms around me.
“No Evgeni please don’t,” I pushed him back and his smile was gone.
“Jessie what’s wrong?” he went to put his hand to my cheek but I couldn’t act like everything was ok when it wasn’t.
“Just stop for a moment, please just stop,” I put my hand on his chest needing to keep some distance between us.

I took a step back. I was trying to stall and think of a way to tell him but manly just stall.
“Evgeni… Liam and I kissed,” and with those words he couldn’t look me in the eye, he looked uneasy, he looked pale, he looked like a part of him had died inside.

“Well are you going to say something?” I went to grab his hand.
“What you want me to say?” he pulled his hand away and finally looked up at me, I could see the anger building in his eyes, “I go away, I work and you kiss old boyfriend, what you want me to say?” his voice began to rise, “What you want? Want me to ask what it like? You like it? Was fun?” he walked passed me not caring that he almost knocked me over.
“No Evgeni that’s not it,” I followed him around as he searched around for something, “what are you doing? Can you just stop for second and talk to me?”
“Talk about what? How you kiss him, love him, not me?” he snatched Jeffrey’s leash from the table, “come,” he slapped his leg and the big dog followed behind as he headed for the door.

Unfortunately at the same time Sebastian got up and followed and it broke my heart to see my baby boy look so desperate to be with them.
“No,” Evgeni turned around as he opened the front door to stop him, “just stay,” he knelt down and hugged him, “just stay,” he repeated kissing his head before standing up and heading out the door.

“Evgeni please!”
“No, no cry, is not fair… go inside,” he turned me around.
“No Evgeni please just let me explain, I love you, don’t go,” I begged breaking down in tears.
“Go inside,” he repeated before climbing into his car.
“Evgeni,” I felt like a fool standing in my front yard pleading for him to stop and just listen to me.

“Sebastian I am sorry,” I turned around seeing my pooch sitting on the porch looking let down.
“I am sorry buddy,” I sat down on the top step next to him putting my arm around him.

Sometimes I wished he was human so he could tell me everything was going to be ok but most of the time his sort furry head on my lap and a lick to my hand way all I needed to feel ok, even just for a few minutes.
