Falling For You Was Out Of My Control

Something Is On His Mind

Evgeni's POV
“Hey G,” Sid yelled pointing down the ice as the puck went straight passed me.
“Huh?”
“Go!”

No matter how much I tried to think about practice I couldn’t. I couldn’t stop thinking about her; how her eyes sparkled when she smiled, how her blonde hair curled over her shoulder, what her soft hands would feel like somewhere other than my arm. I just couldn’t get her off my mind.

“Geno, what has gotten into you?” Brandon slapped my shoulder as we sat down for lunch.
“Huh? Oh nothing,” I stared at my phone.
“Yeah right,” he scoffed, “you have been staring at that phone like it is going to tell you the meaning of life.”
“That’s because he has a girl on his mind,” Pascal smiled from across the table.
“Really? Who is she?” Flower moved closer.
“No one,” I shrugged.
“Call her,” Sid nudged my shoulder.
“No,” I still hadn’t sent her a message so she had my number so I knew I had to contact her sometime soon.
“Go on.”

I gave up and picked up my phone and dialed her number but it went to voice mail, so I left a quick message and got back to lunch.
“Don’t worry she will call you back,” Sid reassured me.

It wasn’t really helping though. I felt pathetic that I wanted to talk her so badly it was just that she was so easy to get along with. We talked for hours and it was only the first time I met her, but nothing felt forced she genuinely made me feel happy.

My food arrived and with the bad timing that always happened my phone began ringing on the table. I turned it over and there was the photo that she took of her and Sebastian lighting up my screen.
“Now I see why you have been distracted,” Flower tried to snatch my phone.
“No,” I grabbed it and stood up and headed outside.

“Hey.”
“Hey you rang me?” I found myself smiling at the sound of her voice.
“Yeah so you have number.”
“Oh sorry I just got back from the gym and was in the shower,” god she was killing me. The thought of her working out, sweat dripping down her body or in the shower, damn it! Why?

“Geno?”
“What?” I was brought back from yet another one of my daydreams.
“What are you doing?” she laughed.
“Have lunch with teammates.”
“Oh I will let you get back to it then, sorry.”
“No no, it ok, you nicer to talk to then team.”
“No you should go back and enjoy your lunch. Besides don’t you have a game to get ready for?”
“Yeah ok, you watch game?”
“Of course I will, never miss them.”
“Ok good, see you Monday.”
“Good luck, Cya.”

“Well?” Sid smiled.
“Well what?” I asked as I sat down.
“Who is she?”
“Her name Jessie.”
“How did you meet her?” Flower asked shoving a fork full of pasta into his mouth.
“Walking dogs at park.”
“She is hot, not as hot as Veronique but ok.”
“Veronique pretty yes but Jessie I like more.”
“You better like her more, Veronique is my lady,” he warned.

I tried so hard to sleep during my afternoon nap which was usually very easy to go to sleep, but now my mind was thinking of other things.

“Geno you ready?!” Dan yelled.
“Yeah.”
“No more of that crap from practice today, full attention on the game.”

Ok so only half of my attention was on the game. The other half wasn’t exactly on Jessie but more on the fact that she was watching so I wanted her to be impressed.

“I don’t know what she has done to you but you are a machine,” Sid smiled patting my helmet after I scored my third goal.
“She not do anything, just wish me good luck.”
“Oh a good luck charm.”
“Yes, you need one.”
****************************************
I had tried to keep myself occupied for the rest of the weekend but nothing seemed to do the trick.

I was woken up to my alarm blaring in my ear, I rolled over to check the time and it was 8:30am.
“Who gets up this early?” I complained to Jeffrey who laid on the rug next to my bed.

I walked into the bathroom and flicked the light switch on almost getting blinded by the bright light, I always forgot to prepare myself for that.

I rubbed my face and moaned looking in the mirror. My eyes widened when I realized I had to be dressed and at the park in half an hour.

I jumped in and out of the shower and fast as I could, brushed my teeth, rushed around the room trying to find clothes but always had the issue of nothing being washed. I eventually found a clean shirt and snatched my phone from the dresser on my way out.

I grabbed Jeffrey and clipped him onto his lead and rushed out the door. I was walking as fast as I could down the street at a brisk pace but know I wouldn’t make it on time so I started running.

I saw her sitting at the picnic bench we sat at the other day and she looked rather down so I hurried with what energy I had left.

“On time!” I announced trying to catch my breath with a panting dog next to me.
She looked up and smiled but it soon disappeared, “what’s wrong?” I asked a little worried letting Jeffrey free from his lead and took the seat next to her.
“Nothing just tired from studying that’s all,” she shrugged, “oh here’s your coffee, cream with one sugar right?”
“You remembered,” I was rather impressed.
