Falling For You Was Out Of My Control

I Remember Us

Jessie’s POV
It was impossible to get a hold of him and find out what was going on when no one else knew either.

“Do you know if he is ok?”
“He still with doctors, Vlad pick him up soon.”

His mother was doing her best to keep me calm as I paced the house with Sarah sitting at the couch staring at me.
“Do you think he will be ok? It look really bad,” I was in tears already at the thought of him being seriously hurt. I couldn’t have that again after what happened to Liam.
“He be ok, Zhenya strong,” she reminded and he was. Evgeni was one of the strongest people I knew right up there with my dad and brother.

“You go sleep, I ring in morning, ok?”
“Ok.”

I gave in for the night but nothing anyone said was making me feel any better. I wasn’t convinced that he was ok. I needed to know for myself. I needed to see him.

“Hey Sebastian you ready to go get Jeffrey back?” and his ears pricked up at his best friends name.
“Come on then,” I grabbed my jacket and headed out the door trying to prepare myself for anything.

I got out of the car and left Sebastian waiting with his big eyes and sad little face for me to return.
“Be good.” I reminded him as he jumped into the driver’s seat.

“Jessie,” Natalia stood at the door with open arms and a smile on her face.
“Hi,” she pulled me into a big warm Russian hug, “Is he ok?” I asked as I pulled away.
“He sleeping now, ok, but not ok. You go see him,” she pointed upstairs and followed right behind me.

The door was opened enough that I could peer my head in.
“Go on,” she nudged me and I was being pushed into his room.

She shut the door behind me and I walked over to his bedside. His large frame faced away from view and Jeffrey was curled up next to him. I don’t know how the both could fit on the bed but they did and it was the most adorable thing I had seen in a long time.

“Evgeni,” I shook his shoulder lightly but he didn’t wake, though Jeffrey peered up at me with his disapproving eyes.
“Evgeni,” I repeated sitting down on the edge of the bed, “wake up,” I ran my hand through his hair.
“Huh?” he woke up in a fright; confusion all over his face as he tried to sit up only to grasp his head in pain.
“No Evgeni just lay still,” I put my hand on his shoulder to stop him, “you will hurt yourself.”
“I am fine,” but the fact that he didn’t fight me to lay back down I knew he wasn’t.

He laid in his bed looking at Jeffrey petting him on the head repeatedly not even paying attention to the fact that I was there. It hurt, it really hurt my feelings.

“Well I guess I should get going, get better soon,” I lent down and kissed his temple before heading back out the door.

Evgeni’s POV
I didn’t want to keep pushing her away especially not now that I was hurt, I wanted and needed her more than ever. But I couldn’t get the image of her and him out of my head.

“I am scared,” I heard Jessie crying outside my door.
“He be ok,” my mother was there too trying to reassure her.
“But the way he looked, his eyes and everything, he looked just like Liam did when he was hurt.”
“It’s ok, he not lose all memory just game.”
“I can’t lose him too,” her cries were too much for me to just lay here and listen to.

“Jessie,” I opened the door to see my mother’s arms wrapped tightly around her.
“Jessie,” I put my hand on her back and my mother let her go so I could hold her, “come here,” I stepped back into my room bringing her with me.

“I am ok,” I shut the door behind me knowing I wanted to kiss her and it was not the kind of kiss I wanted my mother to see.
“But you…”
“I am ok,” I cupped her face, “tired but ok.”
“But you don’t remember,” she continued to cry looking down at the floor.
“I remember you,” I tilted her head back up to me, “I remember us... but all that matters I remember you,” and then I kissed her.

I had missed her so much. I had missed the way she responded when our lips brushed together. I missed how she melted into my touch. I just missed my Jessie.

“I don’t want to be with Liam,” she mumbled into my chest.
“I know.”
“I don’t love him.”
“I know.”
“Well why did you ignore me?” she looked up with her watery eyes and in that moment I made a promise to myself to never make her cry again.
“I want you be sure.”
“Oh I am sure,” she pulled away and wiped at her tears, “I am completely sure.”
“How you know?” I didn’t want to start another fight with her I just wanted to make sure we weren’t going to mess up again.
“You come home with me and I show you.” I

wasn’t sure what to think of that because the sentence itself had so many different meanings but she looked pretty serious.
“Doctor says no exercise,” I rested our foreheads together and it made her laugh.
“That’s not want I am talking about,” she continued to laugh.

Laughing was what I wanted to hear from her, no crying, maybe crying from laughter but not straight out crying.
“But if you’re lucky,” she lent up on her tip toes and kissed my lips so softly it was like she barely touched them.
