These Things We Do

The guys were riding their high off of beating Washington 5-4 in overtime and then coming home and beating them again 6-4 in regulation. Sean was upset that Charlie once again got called to the base for a meeting, but understood that that’s a part of her job. He decided to take this time to hang out with the guys and celebrate a huge 2 points for them. “I’m not surprised.” Zac Rinaldo chimes in. “That chick is bad ass!” They all laugh.

“I bet she’s a knock out between the sheets. Probably has crazy stamina and shit.” Zac says.
“Don’t even go there.” Sean warns, suddenly getting serious.
“Dude I don’t mean it like that. We know she’s yours and all. I’m paying her a compliment!”
“We all saw the branding on you, Couts.” Luke laughed, finally joining the conversation. “You can’t walk in with a back like that and expect us not to know your girl is good in bed. Clearly you’ve got yourself a quality woman.”
Sean blushed. Okay, maybe his teammates had a point. He was lucky as hell. But they didn’t deserve to know that, so he kept his mouth shut the rest of the drive.

The group had been there a couple hours when things started getting strange. Sean had been sitting with Steve Mason, who had also volunteered to be a designated driver for the night, when a random woman had come up to them and started talking. They were both used to women trying to talk to them, but this just felt different. First, she had to have been at least 50 years old. The woman sat with Sean and Steve for almost three hours, asking personal questions and attempting to divulge into Sean’s private life. He was annoyed, but didn’t have the heart to ask her to go away. He’s just too nice of a guy. Eventually, the rest of the team decided they had had enough for the night and started getting ready to leave. Wayne Simmonds ended up getting stuck with the bar bill after his credit card was the one chosen out of a hat. Sean politely told the mystery woman he had to leave, and started to walk away.
“Sean, dear. You didn’t even ask me my name.” She said, grabbing his arm. He looked at her, wondering how he got so unlucky to have had this woman talk his ear off all night about his girlfriend and still be trying to sleep with him.
“How rude of me.” He said, trying to continue to be polite. “What is your name?”
“It’s Anne.”
“Well it’s been a pleasure meeting you, Anne.”
With that, he slipped on his jacket and followed his tipsy teammates out the door.

“It’s always nice to beat the Caps.” He responded. “Especially when no one gets hurt.”
