When she says baby

*June 3,2013*
“Sarah,” I whispered in her ear, “babe wake up.” I say lightly nudging her shoulder.
“No.” is all she says, rolling over and pulling our comforter higher so all you can see is her nose and higher.
“Sarah seriously you have to get up. I have plans for us today.”
At this, one of Sarah’s eyes pop open and she lifts her eyebrow at me. I just smile and lift up some shopping bags,which of course wakes Sarah up immediately.
“Gimme! Gimme!” Sarah says throwing back the covers and thrusting her arms out towards me wiggling her fingers, I just laugh at how childish she’s acting.
“I’ll be downstairs.” I say handing over the bags and walking towards the door.
“Sidney, wait.” Sarah calls getting out of bed, walking towards me in just underwear and a white tank top, which for the record is incredibly thin because I can see her nipples hardening under the fabric.
“I think we need to make a rule in this house that you must be fully clothed unless we’re fucking.”
“Where’s the fun in that? But anyways, thank you for the gifts.” Sarah says laughing lightly before she kisses me.

Half an hour later Sarah comes down the stairs, she’s wearing the outfit I bought her but she’s carrying the shoes in her hands. She looks absolutely stunning, like I knew she would.
“Beautiful babe.” I say resting my hands on her hips, giving her a tender kiss on the lips.
“Let’s go I have a big day planned for us.” I say grabbing her hand and walking towards the door. Once outside we walk to my Range Rover and I open her door for her and closing it once she’s in.

Our first stop of the day is Maggie’s Café, a hot spot for the locals here in Cole Harbor, for breakfast.
“Sidney!!” Maggie calls walking towards me with her arms spread wide.
“Hi Maggie!” I say walking into her arms and engulf her in massive hug.
“The hometown hero finally returns! And he brings beautiful Miss Sarah with him!” Maggie says smiling and moving to hug Sarah as well.
“So what’ll it be today?” Maggie asks pulling out a note pad and grabbing the pen from behind her ear.
“I’ll have the sausage and egg breakfast sandwich with hash browns and a cup of tea, please.” Sarah says closing her menu and puts it back in its holder at the end of the table by the wall.
Maggie turns and looks at me next.
“I’ll have the bacon and cheddar omelet with sour dough toast, and a coffee, please Miss Maggie.” I say using the nickname I gave her when I was five.
Maggie just laughs and rolls her eyes and walks away from our table.
“So, what do you have planned for us today Sidney?” Sarah asks folding her hands in her lap.
“It’s a surprise.” Is all I say winking at her. Maggie just groans because she hates surprises. Well actually she doesn’t hate surprises per say, she just hates the not knowing part.

After breakfast Sarah and I walk back to my Range Rover, “So where to now?” Sarah asks almost immediately.
“There’s a bag behind your seat.” I say putting the keys in the ignition.
Sarah raises her eyebrows but turns around in her seat and grabs the bag and turns back in her seat, the bag sitting on her lap.
“Open it.” I say turning the key and my Range Rover comes to life. Sarah’s eyes light up when she pulls out a beige pair of pointed toe flats.
“Sidney really, this is all too much. First the outfit now the shoes. What is all this about?”Sarah asks changing shoes.
“It’ll all make sense soon enough, mon douce.” I say and look at her when I say this. It’s the first time I’ve spoken French to her.
“Sidney,” Sarah whispers before grabbing my face and delivering a heated kiss, when she pulls away she rests her forehead against mine, keeping her eyes closed, “It’s so hot when you speak French to me.”
“So, what you’re saying is I’ll have to be careful when and where I talk French to you?”
“Absolutment.” Sarah purrs, sitting back in her seat.

30 minutes and a ferry ride later Sarah and I are at our second destination, the Halifax Zoo.
I park and jump out of the car jogging to Sarah’s door and open it for her. Sarah and I hold hands as we make our way to the ticket counter.
“Two adult tickets please.” I say stepping up to the counter. The ticket lady, a young girl, probably 18 just stares at me star struck for a moment before returning to reality and gets us our tickets.
“Enjoy your day.” I say to the girl.
“You as well Mr. Crosby.” the young girl says giving Sarah a death glare as we walk away. I feel Sarah tense up from the look and I stop and pull her into me hugging her close. I feel her shoulders slump and her chest deflate letting out a huge sigh.
“Why are girls always so mean to me? I mean, they don’t even know me! Yet they always voice they’re opinions and shot daggers at me.” Sarah says clearly not happy about the attention she gets from my female fans.
“They’re just jealous of you babe, don’t let them get to you.” I say giving her shoulders a reassuring squeeze.
“I know, it’s just tough. Sometimes even some of the guys girlfriends give me death glares at games and Penguins functions.”
“Seriously?” I say bewildered with Sarah’s exclamation.
“Yeah, but it’s usually the one that change every week, so I don’t know if I should be relieved or worried, seeing as after the guys are done with them they have access to certain stuff they shouldn’t and are now available to go after you.”
“Ya know what? Enough talk of puck bunnies and crazy fans. Let’s go see some penguins!”
Sarah just laughs and follows me as I drag her into the zoo.

True to my word, Sarah and I visit the Penguins first thing. Sarah and I even get our picture taken with one of the Emperor Penguins.
We had a blast and took lots of pictures with the animals. Honestly it was nice to let loose a little and just enjoy a fun day with me girlfriend.
Sarah and I are headed back to Cole Harbor, I have dinner reservations for us which will be the last part of my surprise for today.
“Hello, reservation for two, under Crosby.”
“Yes of course right this way.” The waitress leads us to a secluded room in the back.
“So, what can I get you two to drink?” she asks flipping to a new page in her note pad.
“I’ll have a Crown and Coke please.” Sarah says.
“I’ll have an Alabama Slammer please.”
“Can I see your phone please babe?” I ask once the waitress has left. Sarah doesn’t question it, just skeptically pulls it out of her purse and hands it to me.
I go onto her Instagram and select the picture of her and I with the Emperor Penguin, I caption it,

I hit post and log out of Instagram and hand Sarah her phone back, she immediately goes onto her phone and onto Instagram, knowing I always use her phone for it, and taps on her notification bar seeing as it’s lighting up with likes and comments, she just chuckles and puts her phone back in her bag.

After dinner Sarah and I sit at our table for a while talking.
“So Sidney, are you finally going to tell me what today was all about?”
I take a deep breath before answering her.
“Well Sarah, you see, I’ve been thinking and I think everyone can agree that ever since you and I started dating I’ve become a completely different man. I mean, I’m happier, I’m playing better, I’m just genuinely happier. And Sarah I want you to know how much I love you. Sarah I love you so damn much, and I don’t want to be with anyone else. I know we’ve only been together for a year and a bit but I can’t see myself with anyone else, you’re it for me. Sarah you’re my forever.” By the end of my little speech Sarah is crying, I stand up and grab the back of my chair moving it closer to Sarah. I reach into my pocket and pull out a black jewelry box.
“Sidney.” Sarah gasps.
“Don’t worry it’s not what you think it is.” I say quickly.
I open the box and Sarah gasps loudly looking at the ring inside the box.
“Sarah, I bought this promise ring for you, to promise you that I will always love you, that I will always support you and your decisions. That no matter what I’ll always be faithful. Sarah I promise you I’ll never leave you. I promise to give you the moon and all the stars in the sky, I promise to give you everything, if you’ll accept this ring.”
“Yes.” She sobs out wrapping her arms around me and kissing me with so much passion it’s a good thing I’m sitting down.
“I love you so much Sidney.” Sarah says as I slip the ring on her right ring finger.
“I love you to baby girl.”
