When she says baby

"Sarah!"

"What?!"

"Come 'ere!"

"What- Oh my God!" Sarah shrieks when she sees me holding a Golden Retriever puppy who is now squirming in my arms trying to get free.

"Surprise babe." I say setting the pudgy little puppy down and watch it run towards Sarah it's tail wagging.

"Wait! It's ours?!" Sarah asks, sitting on the floor playing with the puppy.

"You betcha baby." I say taking out my phone to take a picture of her.

"What do you want to name him?" I ask sitting on the floor beside her.

"Butterscotch!" Sarah says hugging the puppy to her chest kissing his head.

"Alright, Butterscotch it is." I say scooting close to her petting our new family member.

"Babe." I say wrapping my arm around her shoulder and extending my arm with my phone in my hand, the camera open on my phone.

Sarah scoots closer in my embrace and holds up Butterscotch, one of the biggest smiles I've ever seen on her face.

I take a few pictures and we chose our favorite before we log onto Sarah's Instagram and post the picture.

"Sidney." Sarah says softly, I turn my head and instantly come in contact with her soft lips. Sarah gives me the most tender sweetest kiss I've ever had. I can't help but smile during the kiss.

"Thank you baby." Sarah says smiling at me.

"Anything for you my girl," I say kissing her temple, "Now what'd you say we go and get our puppy some stuff?"

"Yeah, just let me change real quick babe." Sarah says standing up and walking up the stairs to our bedroom.

Sarah, Butterscotch and myself drive to PetSmart and pick up a kennel, bed, blanket, food, leash, harness and of course toys for Butterscotch. I can already tell that Sarah loves Butterscotch and is going to spoil him.

On the drive home we stop at Starbucks, I get an iced Americano and Sarah gets an Iced Latte.

Butterscotch sits on my lap in the passenger seat the entire ride home.

Once we get home Sarah and I start setting up Butterscotches stuff. We put his kennel in our bedroom, his bed and toys in the living room, we lay his blanket in his kennel and set up his dish of food and water bowl in the kitchen.

Once everything is set up Sarah makes dinner as I watch TV with Butterscotch.

After dinner Sarah and I take Butterscotch for a walk.

It's a beautiful night in Cole Harbor and Butterscotch loves being outside in the fresh air.

We walk down to the harbor and walk along the waters edge, Butterscotch still doesn't know how he feels about water but he's just a pup and will take some time adjusting.

We get one of the few people mingling around on the harbor to take our picture.

It turns out beautiful with the ocean and sunset behind us.

When we get home, we change for bed and take Butterscotch out once more before heading upstairs to our room. Sarah brushes her teeth and washes her face. Right before Sarah joins me in bed she locks Butterscotch in his kennel.

Butterscotch whines a little at the beginning and I tell him to go to sleep. Sarah snuggles into me and I wrap my arms around her waist nuzzling my nose into her hair. Sarah loves being the little spoon, she loves the feeling of my body heat seeping along her entire back.

"Goodnight baby girl." I say kissing her head.

"Goodnight babe. Thank you so much for Butterscotch." Sarah says resting her hands on top of mine and squeezes them.

"Anything for you baby, I know you wanted a dog and I thought if we had one then you wouldn't be so lonely when the season comes along and I'm on road trips."

"You're so thoughtful babe."

this chapter just kinda happened on its own, wasn't really planning on writing a sweet chapter, but sometimes the best chapters are ones that aren't planned!
