When she says baby

*Spring 2015*

Sidney's filling the cooler. I'm putting hamburgers and hotdogs on trays to take outside. Veronique is pouring chips into bowls and Marc-Andre is starting the barbecue. Soon Sidney's teammates and our families will be here. Since there is still some time before the playoffs start Sidney and I have decided we're going to throw a backyard BBQ to celebrate what an amazing season the Penguins had.

"You look stunning baby." Sidney says walking up behind me and wrapping his arms around my waist.

"You don't look so bad yourself Captain." I said turning around in his arms.

Right as we lean into kiss I feel a tug on my dress, I look down and there's little Estelle staring up at me and Sidney. I lean down and pick the smiling little girl up.

"Oh my gosh!!" Catherine Laflamme,(Kris Letangs girlfriend), exclaims loudly.

"What?!" I ask rushing out to the patio to see what the commotion is about.

"There are no buns for the burgers or hotdogs!"

"What? No that can't be right! I know I bought some! They must be around here somewhere!" I say as I begin searching for the buns.

"Sarah, why don't you and Sidney run to the store and buy some buns?"

"There's no store in Sewickley open at this hour!" I say flustered.

"The Walmart on the west side of Pittsburgh will surely be open at this time! I swear we won't destroy your house while you're gone!" Catherine says pleading with me.

"We'll be back in an hour! Evgeni don't touch anything!" I say with my best serious face but it soon cracks and I burst out laughing.

*Vero's POV*

"Finally!!" I say once I see Sidney's Range Rover turn off the street and head for the interstate.

"Listen up everyone! Sidney and Sarah will be gone for a little over an hour so that means we have to work fast! Everyone go out to my vehicle and get the decorations and get your gifts from your cars."

Everyone rushes to the front yard and grabs as much as they can.

What Sidney and Sarah don't know is that we're turning this into an engagement party for them.

When Sidney and Sarah got engaged they didn't want a party, or even a dinner, so us WAG's took it upon ourselves to plan a surprise party and then when Sidney and Sarah decided on a team barbecue we knew that would be the best time to have it.

I can't wait to see the look on their faces...

*Sidney's POV*

Sarah and I just arrived back at our house after having to drive to Pittsburgh and get buns. I can tell Sarah is upset that there weren't any buns but I also know she's beating herself up because both she and I know for a fact, she did buy buns. I put my Rover in park and quickly jump out of the SUV and run to Sarah's door and open it for her. When she gets out I close her door and push her against it, placing both my hands on the roof, I block her in.

"Hey, baby. Sarah, look at me." I say reaching down and lifting her chin with my finger, she looks up at me, her beautiful green eyes swimming in tears. I bring my hands down to cradle her face, a tear falls and I brush it away with my thumb.

"Don't be upset Sarah. Please don't be upset. It breaks my heart to see you like this baby." Slowly, I lower my head and connect our lips. We kiss for a few minutes before I pull away and look at her.

"Let's go have a fun evening with our friends." I say grabbing the grocery bag from the backseat then I grab Sarah's hand and intwine our fingers.

When Sarah and I walk into our backyard we are greeted with all my teammates and their significant others yelling at us.

"SURPRISE!" Sarah and I are each taken aback. That is until we notice that our backyard has been transformed and there is a banner reading "Happy Engagement Sidney and Sarah."

Sarah brings her hand up to her mouth when she gasps and her grip on my hand tightens.

"What...?How...?Guys!!!" Sarah stammers out releasing my hand running towards the group of WAG's smiling proudly.

"Excuse me. Excuse me! Everyone listen!!" I shout over the voices. Everyone quiets down and looks at me.

"I'd just like to thank the Wives and Girlfriends for setting this up. Honestly girls, this is incredible! Sidney and I are surrounded by such amazing people and we're so thankful for all of you. You guys have always been there for us an we're so blessed to have all of you in our lives. Thank you all for coming out tonight and making Sidney and I feel like royalty! We love all of you. And, GO PENS GO!" I cheer.

When I step off of the picnic table Sidney wraps me in a hug and kisses my neck.

Everyone has left. Sarah and I changed out of our fancy clothes and into sweats and hoodies. We grabbed a tent some blankets and pillows and an air mattress along with marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers before we ventured back into our backyard. We quickly set up the tent and blew up the air mattress and threw in to blankets and pillows before heading over to the fire pit and built ourselves a fire. I pulled Sarah into my lap and glanced around at our surroundings.

We convinced the WAGs to leave the white Christmas lights hanging in out trees and they illuminated our backyard. Our tent was set up practically in the middle of our expansive backyard.

After many s'mores Sarah and I put out the fire, washed our faces and retired to the tent for an evening of fun.
