Come Closer

“Meghan got arrested” James said to his roommate Matt Niskanen.

“Holy, why?” Matt came out of the shower with a towel wrapped around his waist.

“She was going to the house and I told her where the spare key was and I totally forgot that I set the alarm when we left and she didn’t know the code so police officers came over and arrested her, so I phoned the station and told them what happened so they let her go.”

“Is she ok?” he removed his towel and put a pair of sweat pants on.

“Scared shitless, but she’s fine. I assume she is sleeping now.”

“So how is everything going with her and volleyball? How are you going to have a fiancé that is away for pretty much all of winter.” Matt asked grabbing his phone and sitting on his bed.

“Well…she is ending her career, she told me right after the game.”

“You’re joking.”

“Wish I was, but in the end it’s her decision.”

“So how do you feel about all this? Honestly James, I don’t think you should have proposed, she is quitting the thing that makes her happy to be in Pittsburgh with you.” He looked up from his phone and stared at him.

“Well I can’t just dump her.”

“I didn’t say dump her, just maybe slow down and don’t get married quite yet.” Matt said. “It’s been 7 years since you two have really seen each other, maybe you guys have changed and being together for the rest of your life isn’t a good thing, I don’t want to be picking up the pieces from a nasty divorce.”

“Fuck, what am I going to do?” James ran his fingers through his hair. “I don’t want to break her heart…again.”

“Just when we get back have a sit down with her and figure something out, if you’re not meant to be James…you’re not meant to be.” Matt turned the lights off and the two guys fell asleep.

“Meghan, I’m home!” James yelled when he got into the house. “Where are you?” James couldn’t hear anything; her shoes were by the door so she had to be here. He heard a faint sound of the upstairs shower. James put his bag by the door and headed upstairs.

James walked into the steamed bathroom and saw the outline of Meghan’s naked body. God she is beautiful James thought to himself. James also stripped and walking into the shower behind her.

“What the fuck” I lifted my hand behind me and punched someone in the face thinking someone broke in.

“OMG…I’m sorry!” I turned around and saw James and that his nose was bleeding…boner killer. “I didn’t know you would be home this early.”

“Jesus Meghan, you got quite the punch.” He moved his hand away from his bloody nose.
I immediately turned the water off, put a towel around me and I sat James on the bathroom counter. His nose was still bleeding pretty badly so I took a tampon out of my bag cut the string off and put it up his nose.

“James I’m so sorry.” I felt so bad.

“It’s not the first time I have been punched in the face.” We both laughed.

James’ nose stopped bleeding and we spent the rest of the day talking about the move.
“Meg I want to talk to you about something.”

“Yeah, what’s up.” I sat back down beside him after getting us both a drink.

“Please don’t get upset with me, but I don’t think it would be a good idea to get married right away, maybe we should wait a while. Live with each other for a while and go from there.”
“Do you still want to be engaged or should I take my ring off?” my eyes getting glossy.

“No, god no. We should just wait a while and make sure this is really what we want to do.”
“What does that mean?” a small tear came from my eye.

James took my head in his hands and wiped the tear away.

“Let’s just wait a while, I promised you when we were 19 that I will marry you, and I will…just not right now.”

*Flash Back*

Meghan’s first trip to Dallas.

It’s been 5 months since James moved to Dallas from Whitby and I was going to visit him for the first time. I was really excited but at the same time really nervous. I haven’t seen James in 5 months, I mean we would Skype but seeing him in actual human form I was a little nervous about.

The flight from Toronto to Dallas felt like 100 hours.

“Let us be the first to welcome you to Dallas, if this is home well welcome home, if visiting enjoy your stay.” The flight attendant came over the speaker system.

As I passed through American customs my heart rate was going a mile a minute, I was so nervous. I walked through the sliding International Arrivals door and there he was looking better than ever, he was wearing a pair of jeans, a sweater and a baseball cap which covered his eyes so he wouldn’t be recognized.

I latterly ran up to him, dropped my bags on the ground and jumped in his arms. It was one of the best feelings I have ever felt.

“God I missed you” he whispered in my ear before putting my down and kissing me.

“I missed you too…more than you know.” I said between kisses.

“Let’s get out of here; I want to show you my place.”

Just the place I want to be.

When we got to his apartment I decided to show myself around, it was a nice size, a kitchen which looked like it had never been used, a living room with video games everywhere and two bedrooms. James walked by me carrying my luggage into his room. I was going to be spending a lot of time there this weekend.

It was a weekend surprisingly James didn’t have any games, so I had him all to myself for the whole weekend.

I walked back into the kitchen where James was standing.

“This is a really nic…”James interrupted my sentence and kissed me.

“How about you be quiet and let me take really good care of you”

James picked me up and carried me to his bedroom, closing the door behind him.

Let the games begin.
