Come Closer

I woke up feeling totally refreshed.

Hoping to see James sleeping beside me I rolled over but his side of the bed was empty. I looked at the clock and saw it was 9:30, I assumed that he had practice this morning before the game tonight.

I got up and went over to his closet to find one of his dress shirts to put on. I walked into his closet in absolute awe, I ran one of my hands down the sleeves of one of his suit jackets, the fabric was so light and soft, I wonder how many thousands of dollars were sitting in this closet.

Putting one of shirts on I made my down stairs. I found a note sitting on the kitchen counter:

Good Morning Beautiful, sorry I wasn’t there to wake up with you but I should be home in about 2 hours, help yourself to anything in the kitchen -James

I smiled reading the note a second time. The bag I brought with some clothes and toiletries inside was still sitting at the front door, I went over grabbing my phone which was in the front pocket to check my text messages.

Khloe – when you get this call me, we NEED to go shopping; I need something to wear to the game tonight.

The second was from my coach.

Brendan – I’m sorry about what happened, it will never happen again I promise.
Yeah right I said out loud.

When I phoned Khloe she picked up on the first ring.

“Good Morning Miss. Fuller how was your night?” she said sound a little sarcastic.

“It was wonderful, I just can’t get enough!”

“Awesome, where is James? I want to go shopping I need to find some kind of Pens thing to wear tonight and maybe take a trip to Macys, go places we don’t have in Canada!”

“James is at practice... but I need to put some clothes on, make myself something to eat and I’ll come back to the hotel after so we can go max out our credit cards!”

“Perfect, see you soon honey!” with that Khloe hung up the phone.

When I hung up the phone with Khloe I went back to the kitchen and threw a bagel in the toaster, while I was waiting I decided to reply to Brendan.

Meghan – Listen Brendan, what you did last night was not ok. I have started seeing James again and I’m not interested in you. What happened last night no one needs to know. Just forget it ever happened.

When I was finished eating my bagel I headed upstairs to get changed and head out.

I took James’ shirt off and traded it with one of my own and threw on some jeans. I sprayed a tiny bit of my Bath and Body Works perfume spray on the collar of his shirt. Having the scent of my body still lingering I grabbed my bag and left his room.

Before leaving I turned the piece of paper over where the note was left, and wrote a note to James.

Thanks for everything last night! I’m going shopping with Khloe today, text me anytime, See you at the game tonight! -Meghan

“I’m trying to decide whether or not I want to wear a player jersey or just a gold shirt and black jeans.” Khloe said as we were wandering around Dick’s Sporting Goods.

I wasn’t sure if I should tell Khloe about the elevator situation last night, she is my best friend and I have never kept a secret from her but I don’t want to start drama and have the team get nervous around Brendan.

“Are you going to wear a Neal jersey?” pulling one off the hanger and handing it to me.

“I don’t know, I was thinking of just wearing something simple” putting the jersey back on the hanger and hanging it back on the rod.

“Is something wrong?” Khloe asked. “You haven’t really said anything since we left the hotel?”

“Oh yeah, everything’s fine, just tired…late night” I winked at her.

“I should have known!”

I felt my phone vibrate, it was a text from James.:

James – I was hoping to see you when I got home, I guess shopping is more important than sex ;) when you get to the arena go to the ticketmaster booth, just tell them your name and they will give you your tickets. See you tonight, love you!

Meghan – Thanks again for the ticket, love you too!

Putting my phone back in my purse I saw Khloe holding up a Paul Martin jersey.

“Have you talked to him lately?”

“No, I think it was just a one night fling, which I’m cool with…I can now tell people that I slept with a hockey player.” Putting the jersey down and grabbing a simple Pens t-shirt and shoving it in the basket.

“You like him don’t you.” I saw her eyes water and her face get red.

“Ok I lied, I haven’t stopped thinking about him. He’s amazing.”

“Tell him then, you saw what happened when James spilled his heart to me. It’s totally worth it…you only live once girlie”

I bought a simple black t-shirt with a Pens logo on the front.

We spend the rest of the afternoon in Macy’s. About 2,000 dollars later we headed back to the hotel to get ready.

I decided to up my look tonight, dark wash jeans, knee high flat boots, my black Pens shirt and the leather jacket I wore to the bar. Smoked out my eye makeup and wore dark red on my lips.

Getting up to the Ticketmaster booth I handed them my ID, the lady working the counter was glared at me.

“James Neal is a player, be cautious” she said pulling my tickets out of the drawer under her desk and handing them to me.

I didn’t say anything back to her just looked at her stunned, who does she thinks she is.

The Penguins won 5-2 against the Rangers.

When we got back to the hotel Khloe and I ran into Brendan coming out of the hotel bar with a mystery blonde. I just started at him…if she only knew.

Just as I was laying my head ready to fall asleep I saw my phone light up.

James – looking good up there tonight, see you soon <3

Reading the text I fell asleep with a smile on my face.
