Our Town

One

Tyler had been wiping the sweat that was dripping down his face all game. He hadn't expected it to be this hot when it was only June, but even October was hot and sticky in Dallas. He put the beer he had been swigging from down and into the cup holder, looking back towards the field to watch batters come out from the dugout.

Watching the Rangers play had started to become one of Tyler's favorite things to do with some of the guys on the team. Most of his teammates had gone out of town after they had lost the first series in the Stanley Cup Playoffs to get ready for next season. During the summer in the past, Tyler had either stayed in Boston or gone home, but Boston was no longer welcoming and home hadn't felt like home in some time, so he rallied up some of the guys left in town and grabbed an old glove, ready to watch some ball.

It was the bottom of the fourth inning, and Tyler was surprised that the big screen hadn't shown him, sitting in-between Jamie Benn and Valeri Nichushkin. Normally the announcers were all over the Stars and other Dallas sports teams whenever they showed up at a Rangers game.

Tyler thought too soon though.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please help us in giving a big round of applause to the players of our very own Dallas Stars. We can't wait to see them return in the 2014-2015 season!

Tyler looked up to see him and the other four guys he was with stretched out big on the jumbotron. They all gave their normal "we hate doing this stuff" wave and smiled, Val's the biggest of all the smiles. They were done switching batters which meant it was their cue to stop waving since they would no longer be on the big screen. Tyler laid his hand down back on his lap, taking his baseball cap off his head and dragging a hand through his sweaty hair. He looked around the stadium, it was pretty packed full of people wearing Rangers jerseys, almost the same amount of people that came to their hockey games.

Tyler was still looking around at the crowd when her name was called out, "Hey Emma!" Normally Tyler didn't care when people were yelling each others names at baseball games that's what they were all about, he never payed attention to his surroundings, just the game, but the head a row in front of him snapped her attention towards the end of her row. Tyler did the same, only to frown. They looked like fraternity boys and this girl looked like some model straight out of a magazine. With dark brown hair in waves cascaded down her back, the top of her head covered by a baseball cap. She was wearing a dark blue shirt that Tyler would bet said either a college on it, or the Texas Rangers on the front. When she stood up, Tyler could see her red shorts and a very nice piece of ass.

Jamie whistled low next to him, Tyler looked towards him and immediately knew he was seeing what Tyler was seeing. A dime, no she was more than that, she was like a hundred dollar coin. Her slim long, tan legs were cut in half by the seat she was just occupying, she was tall but Tyler knew he would tower over her if he ever got the chance to even stand in the same location. Those chances were slim to none though. The guys that were standing at the end of the row had made their way towards the girl and her friend. Tyler almost thought they looked like those burly Abercrombie models, he had never been a fan of the store, and to put the icing on the cake, Tyler could see a moose on on the right side of one of the guys' shirts. He chuckled to himself before grabbing Jamie's attention to show him.

Ever since Tyler had been traded to the Stars, Jamie had become the new Brad Marchand to him. The second Tyler was off the plane they were already grabbing lunch and talking about the future they shared for the Stars and how to whip them into shape. It had turned into a good friendship, on and off the ice, and it made the trade ten times easier. Tyler and Jamie had always made fun of fraternity guys whenever they would see them in a club or even at a game. They always thought they were so superior to everybody else, and since Tyler never had the chance to join a frat he never got what the big deal was. And in knowing Emma for all of zero seconds, he didn't understand why she would even hang out with those guys. She was too attractive to be hanging out with anyone less than perfect.

Well that counts you out fucker, Tyler's conscious said before telling his arm to move and grab the beer that was in the cup holder. Much to Tyler's disapproval, the bottle was empty.

"I'm going to grab another," Tyler said motioning towards the glass, "Anyone want anything?" Tyler grabbed all the bottles the guys had held up in the air and walked from their third row seats all the way to the concessions stand. There were a few people that whopped and cheered, but Tyler didn't know if it was for him or if something even remotely interesting was happening in the game. He didn't turn around to find out.

The lady looked at the four beers glasses and went towards the fridge to grab new ones, while Tyler pulled some cash out of his wallet. He threw in some peanuts, just in case he needed distraction from the hottie sitting in front of him.

"$25.50 please."

Jesus, Tyler thought, Stadium food gets pricier and pricier every season.

Not that the four beers and peanuts broke his wallet or anything, well not even much could break his wallet. Except a plane. Damn he wanted a plane. Tyler hadn't realized while he was thinking about buying a Private Plane just to jet away to some beach that Emma was had turned with her cup full of beer to grab napkins and was heading straight towards her. They collided, Emma's beer went all over her shirt.

Fuck.

Tyler looked at the Boston University letters written across Emma's tight fitting t-shirt, making her boobs look extra large. Tyler licked his lips. Tyler was too busy thinking about the Boston University shirt to see that Emma had totally caught him staring straight at her boobs. She chuckled and then said, "Well you aren't very subtle are you?" Tyler's cheeks flushed a deep red. Normally he was much smoother with girls, but Emma made his pants tight and his mouth dry.

He shook his head, "I.. uh.. I.."

Tyler didn't get to finish his sentence before Emma had her arm on his bicep, "It's fine I was only kidding." Tyler brought the hand that wasn't holding all the beers that thankfully hadn't dropped when he had run into Emma and scratched the back of his neck, still dripping little beads of sweat.

Tyler looked back towards Emma's beer soaked t-shirt and his eyes went wide, "I am so sorry about your shirt and your beer. Can I buy you a new one?"

"A beer or a shirt?"

"Well.. both." She chuckled, he was cute. No he was more than cute he was fucking hot. His eyes were burning a hole straight through her heart and his defined body was burning a hole straight through her panties. She sighed, she probably looked like a mess now, but at least he hadn't gotten the beer in her face, then she would really need to hide herself away for the rest of her life. That was how attractive he was. The kind that you either hate or love, and always make a fool of yourself in front of.

Emma shook her head, "No no it's fine. I was hoping to drink my beer, not wear it but you know maybe I can ring some of it out." She laughed, hoping he had gotten her lame attempt at comedy, but when she looked up he was already walking back towards the concession stand and buying the largest cup of beer the stadium offered. "You don't have to do this you, seriously it's fine." Tyler just waved her off.

"It's the least I can do since well, I uh ruined the shirt." Emma could tell it pained him to look at the shirt, it was the first thing he looked at when they had ran into each other, and since her boobs didn't look good enough in the shirt to be the first thing that grabbed everybody's attention she guessed he was looking at the letters sprawled across her chest.

"You miss it don't you?" Emma said referring to Boston. Tyler took his eyes off the shirt and finally looked at Emma's face. She was gorgeous. She wasn't the type that Tyler normally hit on, mostly because she was out of his league. If he was a ten she was definitely a twenty, no doubt about it. Her tanned face contained dark freckles that spanned from her cheek bones to her nose. Her dark brown eyes were probably very enticing when she wasn't covering them up with the shadow from the brim of her hat. Tyler was too busy staring at her to realize that she had asked the only question he hoped he hadn't been alluding to when he stared at the shirt.

"I well I uh," Tyler couldn't find words, that was until she raised her eyebrows and straightened out her posture, "Yes I miss it like hell actually." She smiled, a gentle smile that Tyler could picture her smiling after he kissed her forehead and told her he loved her.

No what are you thinking Tyler, snap out of it, you don't even know this girls name.

Tyler reached towards the cup of beer and then put it into Emma's hands. Her mouth was in an "O" shape and he was tempted to reach out and put her lips back together and say something sexual about them, but held back. He didn't want this girl thinking that he was some super big creep, not if he ever planned on seeing her again. They walked in silence back towards their seats, Tyler occasionally looking over at Emma, seeing her eyes in the sunlight as she watched the game settled out in front of her. She would notice him staring and tried her hardest not to blush, and sometimes she would look towards him in hopes of catching him staring, but every time he turned his head quickly back towards the game. Tyler was at row six and he was wishing the the walk was longer, they hadn't even said anything, but it was what they didn't say that meant everything to Tyler.

He gave her a nod when he reached his row, she kept walking down one more row and just smiled. Her shirt already halfway dry from the hot sun above her. He promised himself that if he ever saw her again he would buy her another Boston University shirt.

Once Tyler got situated into his spot again, giving each of the guys their drinks, Jamie spoke, "You took a long time. What happened?"

Tyler was staring at the back of Emma's head when he answered, "Boston happened."

-----------

The game had gone by slow, and unfortunately for Tyler, Emma hadn't turned around to look at him. She had just kept her head looking towards the outfield, feeling him burn a hole in the back of her head. Emma's friend, Katherine, had seen her walk down the stairs with Tyler and had given her a big smile, wiggling her eyebrows. Emma just shook her head, and blushed.

It was the top of eighth and the game started to get a little interesting. The sun had started to settle, slowly but surely, and the heat started to lower. Emma could still smell the beer that wafted off her whenever she moved, even just the slightest. She didn't know if she wanted to ever wash the shirt again, the beer was a bummer, but the cute stranger memory it held was too much for her to erase with some Tide and Downy.

The bases were loaded, with two outs on the board. The Rangers were down, and getting these players onto home would get them into the lead, and probably keep them there for the rest of the game. The crowd was riled up, everyone having had way too many drinks to spare themselves the almighty boring game until this inning. Everybody was on their feet, cheering and screaming, chanting weird things, occasionally doing the wave. Emma was really truly enjoying herself, but sadly she didn't know if it was because Tyler was behind her or if she was genuinely having a good time. She quickly put the thought into the back of her head when a ball came soaring, towards her section, as she quickly ducked down so she wouldn't get hit. It was a foul obviously, but everyone was still cheering widely. She looked at Katherine who was laughing and clapping her hands, the whole stadium was clapping their hands actually. Emma turned towards where Katherine and the people in front of her were looking only to see the ball in Tyler's hands, him grinning wildly but also looking at the red mark the ball left. She winced but nevertheless made eye contact with Tyler and smiled.

My God he's attractive, Emma could feel fluttering in her ovaries. She quickly turned back around to watch the last inning of the game.

Tyler looked towards Jamie after Emma turned around, and once the crowd had stopped cheering and returned to the game, he said, "Do you have a sharpie?" Jamie bent his brows in confusion, but put his hands into his pockets to check. And of course Captain Benn kept a sharpie around like it was a necessity. Tyler snatched it out of his friends hand, mumbling a thank you and started writing.

The game had ended with the opposing team winning, but the last two innings were worth the first seven. Emma had started to pick up her purse, waving goodbye to Brent and Sam, the guys she had invited to sit with her and Katherine with her extra tickets. Katherine was saying something about how next time they would have to make sure they brought guys who would be somewhat entertaining when Emma felt a tap on her shoulder.

She turned around to see Tyler there, a grin spread across his lips. He leaned close and said, "For the shirt." Emma half expected to see a wad of cash in her hand, and since her sensors were slowly shutting down from being so damn close to someone so damn attractive, Emma knew she had to look at her palm quick. She brought her attention to the a while round ball, with red stitches on the side. It was the foul ball Tyler had caught.

Emma was confused, why would he give me the foul ball? Do I look like some huge baseball fan or something? Emma started to turn the ball around in her hand when she saw black ink on the side that had been laying in her palm. There was a note scribbled, in very messy boys handwriting.

Boston, hope to talk to you soon.
