Our Town

Three

Emma didn't stop watching the skyline of Dallas, not since they were eating on a rooftop. There were lights hung up around them, people chattering, but not so loud that she couldn't hear what Tyler was saying throughout drinks. Emma smiled, at the Dallas laid out before her, "It's beautiful."

"Yeah it is," Tyler said, but only when Emma turned back towards where Tyler was sitting across from her, did she see him staring directly at her. She blushed, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, laughing smittenly. Tyler was nothing like the rumors Emma had heard up and down the streets, he was a gentleman and whether or not he was just being that way to get in her pants, she didn't know. Or really care for that matter.

Their waitress came back, refills of their drinks in her hands. She took out her pad and pen, taking their orders before returning back inside.

"So Boston," Tyler said, setting his drink back down on the table, "Tell me about yourself huh?"

Emma scrunched up her nose, screwing her mouth to the side, "I am uninteresting," Emma said playing with the hem of her shirt, "At least compared to you."

Tyler raised his eyebrows, "Ah so the secret is told, you do know me?" Emma looked down at her hands in her lap. She had been wrestling with telling him that she knew who he was since he had stood in her doorway, but she knew hiding it would mean she wanted something, when in fact she wanted nothing at all.

"Raised in Minnesota, the state of hockey, of course I know about you."

Tyler sucked in a sharp breath, "Well what do you want from me then?" Emma was taken aback. He was the one who had asked her on a date, most likely knowing that she knew who he was, did she really seem like the kind of person who would want money or a new Prada purse.

"You're just pathetic," Emma snapped back, "Do you think I'm that low?" It was Tyler's turn to be insulted. He hadn't meant for Emma to feel like she was being attacked but Tyler liked her, and not just the lets go screw in the bathroom and then I'll never call you . It was the kind of like where you wanted to keep the person around for a while, scared of what could happen when they left.

"I..uh" Tyler had a loss for words, "I'm sorry. I just got so used to people only wanting me for something, I guess you could say I'm a little paranoid about people when they find out that I have money."

Emma loosened up her posture, relaxing at Tyler's apology, "Well I mean I kind of just wanted to use you for the sex, but.."

"Oh no you can definitely use me for the sex, in fact we can just get out of here right now and go.." Emma started laughing, if only he knew how what he was doing to her.

"Wow your reputation proceeds you, you're such a gentleman."

Tyler didn't know if that was a compliment or an insult. He knew that if Emma knew who he was that she most likely knew his reputation, but what she didn't know was that he was trying to change all that. Key word: trying, "Speaking of my reputation.."

Tyler didn't get to finish before Emma was coming to his rescue, "Look Tyler I didn't mean anything by that statement. I mean yes I know your reputation, who in Dallas doesn't," Tyler chuckled, Emma continued, "but what you do in your free time is up to you. I can't control you, hell I barely even know you so no judgments here."

They were both silent after Emma finished talking. She didn't know if she had crossed the line and he didn't know if he should just get down on one knee and propose. Why wait when he was almost positive he was in love with her.

Tyler finally spoke, "Shit you're something aren't you?

Emma blushed, but under the lights Tyler couldn't see it, "Is that a good something or a bad something?"

Tyler screwed his lips to the side, "Oh definitely bad, horrible actually," Emma laughed, a laughed that filled Tyler with bubbles and butterflies.

Who the hell is she turning you into? You've never had butterflies in your entire life, Tyler thought to himself, looking at the girl in front of him. Her sandy blonde hair fluttering at the ends from the wind, her face illuminated under the lights. Her bright white teeth pulled back into a smile, which crinkled her nose the slightest bit. Tyler noticed that she was barely wearing any makeup, just mascara, lipgloss that he wanted to kiss right off of her, and blush which blended together with her natural blush, something so simply exquisite.

Tyler realized that he had been staring at her for far too long, he opted to change the subject, "So Minnesota eh?"

Emma smiled, "Yeah it sucks, it's so cold that your dreams freeze and die, and you're also expected to never leave because no one else wants to populate the frozen state." Tyler laughed, if there was something he related to it was about growing up in the polar vortex. He spent every second of every day outside, skating and he eventually got used to the cold. Emma could see him reflecting back to his childhood freezing his ass off the way she did, "You definitely understand."

Tyler nodded his head, even if he hadn't understood what Emma was talking about he would still of nodded his head. He would of gone along with anything she said.

Throughout their dinner they talked about Emma and her life in Minnesota, Tyler and his life in Dallas now and the dreaded subject of Boston.

"It was hard ya know? It was my first NHL team and the first place I had won a Stanley Cup in and it was hard to leave," Tyler honestly hated talking about the trade. It had just made him feel worthless, like he wasn't good enough to get a second chance.

Emma nodded her head before hesitantly adding, "Well you could stop looking at the glass as being half empty and realize that you've gotten so many opportunities in Dallas that you never would've gotten in Boston, like playing your natural position for example." Tyler looked at Emma as the waitress was picking up their empty dishes. She was the only person who had basically told him to suck it up and look on the bright side, that he was going to reach his full potential here in Dallas. Everybody else just talked about how Boston was losing something really great, and it was in this moment that if Tyler got the chance to Emma in his life, even just as friends, that he would be incredibly happy.

------------

"Well the date wasn't horrible," Tyler said turning his keys in the ignition.

Emma snorted, "Who said this was a date?" She bent her eyebrows to confuse to Tyler, but in all truth she was happy he had called it a date, because that meant she could call it a date. Tyler laughed, but didn't say anymore on the subject.

Well there you go again Emma, ruining everything, Emma thought as Tyler drove around the city. She didn't know where they were going, probably back to her apartment but he must have been taking the long way, knowing just how much Emma loved the buildings at night, especially the tall buildings, all lit up like a christmas tree as if to say 'I am here, and I am not going anywhere.'

Tyler pointed out a few buildings here and there that related to him, his hand on the center console, so close to Emma that she could feel it. She almost thought that he had put his hand there on purpose, making sure she knew he was open and wanted her to grab the hand and never let it go.

Don't get your hopes up, he is Tyler Seguin after all, Emma didn't remember telling her brain to ruin the moment she was having about Tyler's hand, but nevertheless she crossed her legs, her hands in the middle of them so she wouldn't reach out towards where his hand was teasing her.

Tyler pulled up to Emma's apartment, wishing there was an even longer route than the one he took just so he could keep her in the car. Her smell radiated off her, intoxicating his nose with vanilla, and he wanted to keep smelling it.

Maybe you could ask her for her perfume and then you could spray it all over your car, oh and while you're at it you mine as well become a complete pussy, Tyler opened his door as if to shut his brain off, not wanting it to ruin the moment.

He crossed in front of the car, looking once more at Emma when she was unbuckling her seatbelt, opening her door for her, he reached his out to help her out of the car. Her hand was petite and soft, just sitting in his palm, waiting to be kissed. Speaking of kissing Tyler looked towards Emma plump lips, glistening with her lip gloss. She licked them, and Tyler felt his dick twitch in his pants. He knew he had to get out of here before he forced Emma to bring him upstairs and let him have his way with her, but he wanted to take it slow. Show Emma, if she was even interested, that no one else had ever made him feel this warm inside.

Pussy, his mind repeated again. He didn't care, she was too beautiful.

"Well I mean I had sort of a good time, so thanks," Emma said, walking towards her apartment building, hoping Tyler wouldn't ask if he could come upstairs. Otherwise she might never let him leave, and oh how upset every other girl in Dallas would be about that.

Tyler laughed, "I'm glad I could give you a sort of good time."

I could give you an even better time upstairs. In your bed, Tyler thought, looking at Emma lick her lips.

Come upstairs and give me the time of my life please,
Emma couldn't stop thinking about him naked and laying sprawled across her bed, she knew her panties were ruined after tonight.

Emma nodded her head, smiling slightly before turning towards the front door of her apartment. Before she could even get her foot on the ground she was being turned around but the wrist into a hungry Tyler, "I can't let you leave without a goodnight kiss."

He pressed his lips to Emma's like it might be the last time he ever kisses anybody again, and in all truth he planned on these lips being the only lips he actually does ever kiss again. Her lips were soft against his, her lipgloss tasting like strawberries, another smell that intoxicated him. Her tongue felt like silk against his, teasing him until he could feel his pants get tight, and he didn't know if he could let her go until all her clothes were on the street outside her apartment.

Screw indecency, I need her now, Tyler thought, growing hungrier by the second. It was Emma that finally pulled away, knowing she held the key to her apartment and if they kept kissing she would hand it over and follow Tyler like a lost puppy dog upstairs.

"Woah," was all Tyler could say, with his arms still wrapped around Emma's waist. There were only two layers between each other, something they both thought about when they were pressed so close together.

Emma was out of breath, "So when's the second date?" Emma asked, hoping Tyler didn't think she was being too forward by asking the question but also not wanting to wait too long to see him again.

Here you go again, getting attached, be careful or I'll fall as hard as your heart and we'll repeat the past, Emma's brain said against her will.

Tyler pressed his lips to hers once more, nothing seductive, a simple and gentle kiss, something you would do when you had been together for years. Something Tyler wished he could do to Emma everyday, "Who said this was a date?"
