Our Town

Tyler sat in his desk chair, swiveling around like a little kid. He was bored. Bored of watching Emma work, although she looked gorgeous doing it. Her long hair fell over her shoulders and onto the papers in front of her and her eyebrows were pinched together, focused on the job at hand. And Tyler didn't even want to get himself started on the glasses Emma was wearing. It was like every guys sexy librarian wet dream, except Emma was actually working, and was very serious about it.

Tyler had tried multiple times to snatch the papers away from Emma but each time she pinched her eyebrows together and Tyler was honestly afraid. The twenty-two year old, professional hockey player who practically got beat up for a living was scared of a girl, but not just any girl, the girl of his dreams.

That was how the past couple of weeks had been for Tyler, a dream. He honestly didn't believe that he had been waking up to Emma, her hair sprawled across the pillow her head was resting on, her freckles illuminated from the sun straining in through the curtains. He loved it, every morning eating breakfast with Emma in one of his old tshirts and her hair up in a bun. It was refreshing and new, normally he had most girls out of his bed before sunrise, claiming he had practice or that a friend needed his help. But not Emma, he practically begged her every morning to stay the rest of the day, even though he knew every night he would be laying next to her again, the smell of vanilla and lilac wafting from her hair. He loved it.

Except with the upcoming school year looming over Emma's head, she had less and less time for Tyler. In all honesty for her it had almost become just a friendship, with benefits of course, but Tyler would say sweet things to her when he knew she was listening, and that would bring Emma back to whatever her and Tyler were. A thing? A serious thing? Emma couldn't even say dating without laughing at herself. Tyler Seguin didn't date and neither did Emma. She liked being free, no chains and promises clinging onto her neck. No broken hearts to sweep up and stitch, very carefully, back together. Except each time Emma put her heart back together, little pieces were missing, the pieces that each guy had taken from her when they ripped her heart out and smashed it to pieces. Nope Emma didn't date.

"Take a break."

Emma looked up from her papers on the floor and towards Tyler, swiveling in his swivel chair with his arms crossed and a slightly stir crazy look on his face. Emma knew it wasn't fair that this was what they did every time they were together during the day. She tried to treat him at night but she was tired and exhausted, and this was her job. She knew when hockey season started it would be her swiveling in the swivel chair and Tyler would perfecting the tape on his stick every second of every day.

"Ty you know I can't," Emma regretted the statement as soon as she saw the look on Tyler's face. He looked mad and annoyed and like he just wanted to actually spend time with Emma. "This is my job Tyler, and like it or not it's very important to me. I don't ask you skip workouts, and I won't ask you to skip practices and games when the season starts. So I'm sorry but I need to work."

Tyler sighed and looked Emma in the eyes. She really was gorgeous.

"I'm gonna go get some lunch, want anything?" Emma shook her head. Tyler stood up and stalked towards the door to the room, giving Emma a kiss on the head as he passed by. She could hear keys jingling, shoes being laced up and the door being shut. She waited five minutes before she packed up her stuff and went out into the kitchen to write a note.

Ty,

Sorry about working all the time but go have fun with the rest of your day. Get drunk and hang out with the guys, enjoy the last couple weeks of "summer." I'll see you tonight, if you want to.

Em

With that Emma grabbed her things, slipped on her flip flops and walked out the door.

--------

Tyler came back twenty minutes later with a half eaten sandwich in one hand and a cookie in another, just incase Emma got hungry while he was gone. But when he walked into his apartment he knew she was gone. There was always a certain energy whenever Emma was over, and the apartment lacked that energy. He walked towards the kitchen where she normally left him little notes. He read the neat handwriting and then pulled out his phone, looking through his contacts for some of his teammates he knew would already have something planned.

After about two hours Tyler was shutting his apartment door in some dress pants and a collared, button up shirt, untucked, excited that he would see his teammates, since he had mostly been with Emma for the past couple of weeks. He pulled up to Station 4 within minutes and threw his keys to the valet, like the asshole he was, but the valet didn't seem too upset as he settled into the plush seats of Tyler's car.

"Well shit segs actually came out." Tyler looked towards the vip section as he walked in the door to see Jordie Benn leaning on the railing, a blonde already on his arm. He could see the rest of the guys stumbling around the vip section, it was only evelen but leave it to these guys to already be halfway drunk. Tyler waved to Jordie before walking towards the bar to order himself a drink. He could feel every set of eyes on him, but he kept moving along, thinking of Emma the entire time. How she would probably hate a place like this, in all honesty Tyler hated it too, but the alcohol and the thought of going to sleep next to Emma numbed the disgust.

Tyler motioned for the bartender, ordered his drink and waited. It wasn't even two seconds before a leggy brunette with fake tits came bouncing his way. This was really when Tyler wished he had a sign that said "I'm not single, I'm technically not taken but I'm falling for a girl who is a thousand times better than you", to keep away girls that he could easily take to the back and have them coming in minutes.

But Tyler wasn't one to be rude so he put on his best smile and said, "Can I get you a drink?" The girl bobbed her head and Tyler imagined his dick right between her plush lips.

Emma Emma Emma, Tyler thought, but still was looking the brunette up and down. He ordered her drink and then turned back, "What's your name gorgeous?"

"Claire."

You're no Emma Claire, Tyler thought before sticking his hand out and saying, "Tyler." The girl put a look on her face that said she knew who Tyler was, but she tried to wipe it off her face just as fast as it came.

Tyler gave the bartender a fifty when he passed Tyler the drinks and then grabbed Claire and lead her towards the vip section. He knew he would regret bringing Claire anywhere but maybe he could get a dance or two out of it. She curled up right next to Tyler when he sat down near Jamie Benn, he said his hellos to the rest of his teammates that were wandering around and then looked towards Claire. She smiled, he gagged.

It was around one in morning when Tyler started to feel exhausted, whether it was actually exhaustion from fatigue or if it was from trying to pass off Claire to a teammate that could actually make use of her Tyler had no clue, but he did know that Claire wasn't going anywhere that he wasn't. So at two in the morning, Tyler stood up in the vip section and looked at his lingering teammates and said, "I'm going to Emma's, see ya guys at lifting." He heard a grunt from Claire, but he felt no pity for her, she could of gotten someone else, God knows someone would of taken her, she had a great ass. Tyler heard some of his teammates say their goodbyes back before turning towards their conquests. Tyler was just glad he had dumped Claire while simultaneously getting an excuse to leave the club.

-----------

Emma was sound asleep when the pounding on the door started, she wiped at her eyes, as if that would help, and then looked at the clock. It read 3:00. Emma grunted, and started to close her eyes again, whoever it was could wait until at least 8:00. But the pounding kept coming and Emma was getting irritated, so she walked towards her bedroom door, grabbing one of Tyler's sweatshirts on the way, and out towards the living room. She looked in the peephole before throwing open the door.

"I said I hope to see you later but later is not three in the morning."

Tyler just grabbed her hand and lead Emma back towards her room. She could smell alcohol, it was faint, but she knew Tyler wasn't drunk, he would've had her pinned up against a wall by now if he was. So Emma obliged, walking behind Tyler as they reached her room and her bed. Emma pulled his sweatshirt off and watched as he stripped down to just his boxers.

She crawled into bed, Tyler following suit, wrapping his arms around Emma, her head in the crook of his neck. He kissed the top of her head before saying, "Is it completely mad that I'm already falling in love with you?"

Emma wasn't prepared. It was like an atomic bomb, a hiroshima on her own heart. She could feel prickles at her eyes as tears started welling in her brown orbs. Tyler intense gaze was focused on the top of her head, but she knew she had to answer quick, and truthfully.

"I'm falling in love with you too." Tyler exhaled a large breath, he had been hoping Emma would say he wasn't crazy and that she felt the same, but he was expecting her to run out of her bed, out of her apartment, out of Dallas, out of Texas, heck even out of the United States. But here she was, perfectly fitting into Tyler's body, something neither of them had noticed until that moment.

Tyler closed his eyes, knowing the conversation was over. He half hoped he was drunk enough that he would forget he told Emma that, but the other half knew he wanted to remember this moment. Emma closed her eyes as well, her heart thumping fast and most likely loud. She hadn't been expecting anything, just a night of sleeping. But she had not been expecting Tyler Seguin to tell her that he was falling in love with her. He didn't do love. She didn't do love.

But here she was laying with Tyler, still smiling even when he asked, "So does this mean that when we wake up you'll be my girlfriend, Boston?" Emma chuckled at the use of her nickname, but she shifted a little to look up at Tyler.

She made sure he saw her smile before saying, "Eh, I'll think about it."
