Our Town

"SEGUIN."

Tyler turned around from his position in the locker room to see Jordie Benn stalking straight towards him with a mission on his mind.

"What's this I hear about you having a girlfriend?" Tyler blushed, "Aw fuck has she turned you into a pussy already?"

Tyler was going to reply and stick up for Emma when Brenden Dillon came walking over, phone in hand and a picture of Emma on the screen. Jordie snatched the phone out of Brendens hand and analyzed the picture, then handed the phone back over. Tyler stood expectantly.

"Hell that girl could turn any guy into a pussy." Tyler smiled bashfully, "So why did she pick you?" Tyler just looked at Jordie before playfully punching him in the arm, he wasn't even affected.

As Tyler walked back towards his locker to put his gear on he could hear more chattering amongst the crowd, and he was proud. He was proud of Emma, because without even meeting the team, she already impressed them, which was something not a lot of girlfriends had done.

Jamie walked over to his stall next to Tyler's and sat down, "She coming to the game tonight?" Tyler nodded his head, not wanting anybody to know she was here. "She sitting in the WAGS box?"

"Not just yet, don’t want to scare her, I like having her around." Jamie nodded his head understandingly. He could tell that Tyler really liked Emma, that she wasn't just another name to put in his very large black book, but he also wanted everybody else to like her, which would be very easy since she was a dame to kill for.

Jamie and Tyler both finished putting their gear on for warmups, not quite realizing that it was the start of the pre-season and that in just six short games the games and points would count for something.

Tyler headed out onto the ice, already looking for Emma in her seats near the glass, and behind the bench. He had given her the tickets only two nights ago, and it had taken a lot for her to come. She was nervous, as most NHL girlfriends are when going to their first NHL game while dating a player. Tyler was just happy he finally had someone other than himself to play for.

"EH SEGGY I SEE YOUR LADY!"

Tyler turned towards where Jordie was standing near the glass, and where Emma was looking terrorized and confused. Tyler chuckled a little before skating over. Luckily since it was a. just a preseason game and b. warmups, there weren't many people in the stands, so instead of just skating by and waving, Tyler actually made an effort to talk to Emma through the glass.

He pointed his glove towards Jordie, "That's Jordie," Emma smiled and waved, Jordie smirked, a smirk that Tyler was sure had an alternative meaning, "He's a pain in the ass." Then Jamie skated over, followed by Brenden Dillon, Val, and Daley. They each said their names, Brenden bowed, and Emma laughed. Tyler smiled, he honestly loved seeing Emma's smile, and he loved that his teammates were putting it there. Eventually they all said their goodbyes and skated away, Lindy had yelled at them.

Tyler stayed for a second, just admiring Emma and that she was even in the American Airlines Center, supporting him. Tyler could see his team skating off the ice, warm-ups were over and Tyler hadn't even skated around. Emma smiled, blew Tyler a kiss and spoke through the glass, "Good luck all-star."

Emmas good luck was all Tyler needed to score twice in the first period, once in the second period and assist two more goals in the third period. And after every goal, Tyler would look over towards where Emma was sitting, she would be cheering loudly, something he definitely wanted to get used to.

"HOLY FUCK SEGS YOU WERE ON FIRE!"

Tyler heard as he walked into the locker room, laughing and cheering. His teammates had all congratulated him on a fantastic game. His captain of course ending his congrats with "now just do that in the regular season."

Lindy Ruff came over to Tyler's locker after the game, extending his hand out towards the young player, "Congrats Seguin, that was a hell of a game."

Tyler nodded his head in gratitude, "Thanks coach."

Lindy nodded his head, and started to walk away before turning back, grabbing the attention of the whole locker room, "But we all know that it was the girlfriend." The whole locker room erupted in cheers, including Tyler.

Emma had been cheering the whole game, even when the play didn't involve Tyler. She was happy that Tyler had showed off just for her, and that the team had enjoyed her presence at the beginning of the game.

There honestly wasn't anything that Emma wasn't happy about recently, that was until she heard her name called when she was walking towards the lounge to meet Tyler.

"Emma?"

Emma turned around, a smile on her face, expecting to see one of Tyler's teammates, instead she saw someone she hadn't seen in two years. Someone she hadn't been planning on seeing ever again in her lifetime.

"Ryan."

Tyler walked out into the family and friends lounge, searching around for Emma but not seeing her anywhere in sight. He could see most of his teammates lingering around, almost like they were waiting for Emma to walk through the door, ready to ransack her with questions and hugs.

Jamie walked through the door behind Tyler, noticing the same thing that Tyler had noticed, "Where is she?"

Tyler shrugged his shoulders, not quite knowing where she could be, "Maybe she got lost?"

Jamie looked at his teammate, and nodded his head, "I'll help you look for her." He set his hockey bag down before Tyler could protest and started to walk towards the exit of the lounge. Tyler followed. Along with the rest of the players still hanging around.

Tyler walked around the building, looking on the ice just incase she was still in her seat. He walked towards the concessions stands, and around the shop near the entrance of the building. He had called Emma multiple times but she hadn't answered. Tyler was about to give up when he saw some of his teammates crowding around two figures. Jamie was holding one of the figures while Jordie was just centimeters near the others face. Tyler walked closer to the scene to see Emma in Jamie's arms crying.

"Emma?"

Emma looked away from Jamie and towards Tyler, she quickly ran towards him, and Tyler opened his arms just as she came crashing into him. His shirt was soaked with tears within minutes. Tyler looked towards Jamie, who was shaking his head, then Tyler looked back down at Emma, she kept whispering something but Tyler couldn't make it out.

"Who the fuck are you anyways?"

Tyler looked towards where Jordie and Brenden were towering over a man, probably Tyler's age. The guy just snickered and looked over towards where Tyler was holding Emma, "Is he your new boyfriend Emma, huh?"

Emma shook her head, before looking into Tyler's eyes and saying three words, "I'm so sorry."

Tyler didn't quite understand why she was apologizing.That was until the man spoke again.

"I bet you didn't tell him that we were engaged," Tyler's jaw dropped, he was pretty sure all of his teammates' jaws dropped as well.

Emma just kept shaking her head, tears falling down her face and looking at Tyler, saying "I'm so sorry" over and over again.

The man spoke again, "I'm also going to bet you didn't tell him that I knocked you up." Then the man was down on the ground, blacked out, with Tyler standing over him, his fist still balled up.
