Our Town
Nine
Tyler pushed her up against the door to her apartment once they had finally gotten in. She moaned in either appreciation, or in annoyance. Tyler honestly didn't care which one it was, he only cared about getting off.
It had been about two months since Emma had walked out of Tyler's apartment, and ever since then Tyler had tried to bring a new girl home every night. He didn't know if he was trying to replace the thought of Emma in his mind or not, but he knew he just wanted to replace the idea of her around his apartment. He would walk in from practice and could see her sitting in her chair by the window, reading a book that she could talk for days about. He could still smell her on his pillows, even after he had changed the sheets. But the worst was when he could see her in the stands at a game, his name on her back, and a smile on her face. That was what crushed him.
Tyler would always try to shake the thought out of his head by saying that they had only dated for a month, maybe a month and a half, but it was not long enough to fall in love. Or at least that's what he would try to say to himself, his heart said something different.
His teammates, at first, had tried to tell him to suck it up and go after her, and then slowly but surely, they gave up on him altogether. They would go out with him after games and drink, but every time he would get a girl to go home with him, he would always glance up to where his teammates were sitting and see frowns all around. Their opinions, for the most part, had been kept to themselves, but sometimes something would slip out.
He had talked to Jamie Benn about the situation multiple times, but every time he would get angry with Jamie for taking Emma's side, and for telling Tyler to just put his dick in-between his legs and apologize.
But Tyler liked his dick somewhere else.
So as he was thrusting in and out of his choice for the night, he couldn't help but wonder where Emma was. And he couldn't help but wonder if she would be mad that he had "moved" on so fast. He honestly hoped that she was eating chocolate and crying in her bed, but most likely, she was in someone else's bed. Tyler thrusted harder.
He could feel the girl under him writhing around, but he didn't stop. He honestly didn't know if he could. He was thinking of Emma, which he had promised himself early on in his life that he would never think of another girl while having sex with someone else. But here he was, remembering how Emma had a sensitive spot near her ear, that made her say Tyler's name in a way that made Tyler feel like if no one ever said his name again and he would be fine. Caught up in his fantasy, Tyler leaned near the girl in front of him and started sucking right below her ear, in Emma's sensitive spot.
"Ouch."
Tyler pushed himself up, to look at the girl under him for the first time that night. She had blonde hair, and her eyes were a very annoying grey. She was pretty, sure, but she wasn't anything close to Emma. He had stopped pumping in and out of the girl, and it was then that he realized he wasn't hard, that his body most definitely didn't want this, especially with this girl. Tyler cursed under his breath, but started to pump again, hoping the girl wouldn't go around spreading what a miserable fail this night was going to be.
Tyler leaned down to kiss the girl, hoping it might stimulate whatever needed to be stimulated, and said, "What's your name again?"
The girl stopped kissing Tyler back, and scoffed. Then she remembered that Tyler Seguin was currently fucking her, and that he would be gone before she woke up in the morning, and she no longer cared that Tyler didn't know her name, "Emma."
Tyler pushed back a vomit.
--------
Emma sat in a chair, a very uncomfortable chair, across from Jamie Benn, in a restaurant that she knew she would never be able to afford. Luckily, Jamie had offered to pay the bill, since Emma had so nicely obliged to meeting him in the first place. At first she had thought that maybe Jamie was taking advantage of what Tyler had given up, but when she showed up and saw that there was only concern across Jamie's face she knew it was about Tyler.
Jamie had started off by saying that Tyler was a piece of shit, and that he shouldn't of just given Emma up because of a fight. Then he went into how much Tyler had liked Emma, how he had even told Jamie that he loved Emma. That one was hard to hold down.
"What's he been doing?"
Jamie looked down at his nearly empty plate of food in front of him and gulped, Emma just laughed, "He's been doing everybody, hasn't he?" Jamie didn't say anything, but he didn't need to. The silence was the answer to the multiple questions Emma was too scared to ask.
Jamie looked like he was about to vomit, and Emma could honestly feel the vomit surging up her throat. She hadn't thought about Tyler in almost a month. She had kept busy with work, and she hadn't even come close to the NHL Network when she had time to relax. The clothes that she had "borrowed" while they were dating, were in a box in the back of her closet.
Emma had mentally slapped herself multiple times the first couple of nights. They had barely even dated, a month is not long in anybody's book, but it was the future that made her cry. Emma had honestly felt like maybe Tyler was someone that she could put her trust in, someone that she could maybe love. Hell who was she kidding, she had fallen in love with him the second he called her Boston.
Boston.
That led to the second reason she was crying. Not because she was sad, but because she had gotten a chance to go home. Emma had been teaching all day, just a few days after she had walked out of Tyler's apartment. Her students had been a good getaway. But at the end of the day, she had been called into the Principals office for a meeting about the "future." Emma almost shit her pants, but when she walked into Mr. Brian's office he had a smile on his face, and his telephone on speaker.
"Emma it's Callawell, your old English professor, do you remember me out here in the old town of Boston?"
Emma laughed, Mr. Callawell had been her favorite teacher, not just out of the teachers at Boston University but out of every teacher she's ever had. He had taught Emma more in a year about English and words and life than she had learned from her twenty years of actually living. They had talked for hours on end, and it turns out that Mr. Brian had known Mr. Callawell from being in high school together. That was when Mr. Callawell asked Emma about Boston.
"Of course I'd love to come back to Boston--"
Mr. Callawell didn't let her finish, "Well great, I'm retiring and the position is open. I spoke very highly of you to the Dean and he is offering you the position before it goes public."
For the second time that day, Emma almost shit her pants. She had refused the position at first, talking about how she wasn't at all ready to be a Professor at a University. And after about a thirty minute conversation, Mr. Callawell had talked her into trying it out for a week and Mr. Brians had told her he would fire her if she didn't take the job. Emma decided to take the so called "internship professor" for a week, and she left two days after her dinner with Jamie.
"I leave for Boston in two days, and I don't know if I'm coming back."
Jamie stopped walking. They had finished their meal and were walking to a bar where some of his friends and Emma's friends were.
Emma continued, "I was offered a position as an english professor at BU, and I'm gonna try it out, see if it's meant for me.
Jamie looked at Emma, as she kept walking and realized that Tyler was a God damn fool for letting Emma walk out of his apartment. Nothing more was said on the subject of Emma leaving, mostly because Jamie wasn't sure whether or not he could be trusted with words. He wanted Emma to stay, but who he wanted Emma to stay for, he was unsure of. He had become good friends with Emma since Tyler had given him the job of looking out for her, once they had broken up.
Jamie and Emma strolled up to a bar that the Dallas Stars often frequented when they wanted a slow night. She could see some people hanging around, and she could see her roommates near some of the guys. But most importantly she could see some guy, with his tongue in some girls mouth right near the door to the bar.
It took everything in Emma not to say something, but Jamie on the other hand spoke up, "Hey man get a room." Jamie and Emma chuckled before the two people separated their mouths from each other and Emma got a good look at the two people in front of her.
You could hear a pin drop, as the whole bar went silent.
Jamie coughed.
The girl skirted away.
And both Tyler and Emma were left to look at each other, both wondering what they were doing standing so far apart.
