Maddie Hewlett sighed as she deleted his last text message. Her boyfriend of three years, Patrick Kane, had cheated on her. Jonathan Toews had told her that Pat was hooking up with girls while they were on the road.

Patrick had been trying to call her and text her all day, but Maddie didn’t want to respond. She was tired of the cheating…she never thought Pat would do that to her, but he did and she was so angry with him. “Maddie?” his voice startled her out of her thoughts.

“Go away, Patrick…” she mumbled, looking away from him

“Maddie, please let me explain…” Patrick pleaded, reaching for her hands.

Maddie pulled away and tears started falling from her eyes, “Explain?! Explain that you broke my fucking heart? Explain that you’ve been hooking up with random girls for the past six months? Or maybe you’re going to explain to me that why after three fucking years, you decide you’re so unhappy with me that you have to cheat?”

Patrick sighed, “Maddie, I didn’t mean to hurt you…”

“But you did, Patrick! You cheated on me! You broke my fucking heart.”

“Maddie…I’m sorry…” he stammered

“Sorry isn’t enough, Patrick.” she replied, wiping a tear from her cheek

“What will be enough? What can I do to prove to you that it won’t happen again? That you’re the only girl I want to be with? That I love you, Madelyn Grace Hewlett. What can I do?”

“Patrick, if you truly loved me, you wouldn’t have cheated.””

“Fuck, Maddie, I know that! But I do love you! What I did was stupid and inexcusable and I’m a fucking asshole, but I am sorry! I know that won’t erase what I did, but I wish it would. I hate myself for what I did, Maddie. I can’t sleep at night thinking about it, hell I can’t even play right. You’re my everything, Maddie and if you let me, I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you. I’ll make my sorry mean something to you, because I do love you! I love you so so much. Please forgive me!” he begged

Maddie looked him in the eyes, “Patrick, I love you too…”

“Will you please give me a chance to fix this?” he asked

Maddie nodded, “Okay.”

Patrick smiled and kissed her hard on the lips, “I promise you that I will never ever hurt you again. I love you, Maddie.”

“I love you too, Pat.”
