Living The Dream

Chapter 5

DYLANNES POV

After the game I head over to my car lugging my hockey bag, because my whole body was sore. I just wanted to go home, and take a nice long hot bath. I remembered that Adam had asked me out for coffee, but I saw no sign of him outside the locker room after the celebration photos so I just went on with my day. That is until I heard someone call my name.

"Dylanne!" Adam yelled as he ran after me. "Not running away from me are you?" he looked concerned.

"No, I just thought you found someone else to go have coffee with," I replied shyly.

"Of course not," he confirmed and reached for my hand. "I was just signing a couple of autographs," he continued. "I was thinking Soupy could join us." he suggested, probably trying to avoid any awkwardness that could come.

"Yeah, that sounds nice, where are we going?" For some reason, the idea of having coffee with Adam didn't scare me. It was the idea that I may fall for him, and that he could just find someone better in the blink of an eye, that scared me. So I promised myself that I would only see him as a friend. Nothing more. I don't want either of us to get hurt, so friends was the best option. Who am I kidding, why am I even thinking that a guy like Adam would ever go for a girl like me.

"We can just go to the café around the block, is that alright?"

"Sound good to me, I'll see meet you guys there."

I packed up my jeep with all of my hockey equipment, and drove over to meet Adam and Greg.

ADAMS POV

I was so interested in getting to know Dylanne, and I couldn't put my finger on why. She was beautiful, but not like most girls that catch your attention. But for some reason, I was willing to do anything to get closer to her.

Once we ordered our drinks, we sat in a booth by the window and talked about anything and everything. Soupy asked about school, and we discovered that she's studying law. We talked about hockey, her career, and the bruins, and I was curious to find out if she ever wanted to play on the national team.

"So have you ever thought about playing for team USA?" I questioned.

"No team USA isn't the team i'm looking to play for." she replied.

"Oh so you just want to stick to college hockey?" Soupy asked.

"Nope, I actually got asked to play for Team Canada, so when i'm not playing at Harvard, I'm playing in Calgary with that team."

"Wait, you're Canadian?" I quickly asked. A Canadian girl. So hot.

"Yeah, born and raised."

In the middle of our conversation, Soupy got a phone call from his wife Katie, so he left, but we continued talking. The conversation flowed so easily, and nothing seemed forced between us. I was so interested in hearing the stories she had to tell, and she seemed interested in asking about my career. We ended up talking for hours, when we finally realized what time it was.

"I better get going, I have to head back to campus, and get ready for class tomorrow." Dylanne said when she looked at her phone. "I had a lovely time, thanks for inviting me for coffee" she smiled.

"I had fun, we should do it again sometime soon." I suggested.

"For sure! Bye Adam." and she quickly left the café. I didn't even get the opportunity to get her number. All I knew after this date, was I needed to see her again. If you could even call that a date.
