Jamie Benn (3)
You flopped back onto your bed, sighing, smiling. Jamie had taken you out on the best date ever (not that there were many other dates to compare it with). Your childhood best friend, Tyler Seguin, who now played for the Dallas Stars in the NHL, had introduced you to his best friend, linemate, and Stars captain Jamie Benn while you were in Texas for a job opportunity. You’d had quite a crush on him since you met, and you suspected he felt the same. You’d only talked to him a few times before, usually at the rink while waiting for Tyler, since he was your ride everywhere, and you were staying at his place. But you could tell he was interested; he flirted oh so subtly, yet constantly. You suspected it hadn’t taken much time for Tyler to catch on, or for him to prod Jamie enough to ask you out.
You still waited on the bed, daydreaming and waiting for your phone to chime. You dreamed about his smile, his goofy grin and the way his eyes twinkled when he gazed at you from across the candle-lit table. You had listened with rapt attention when he talked about hockey, and you knew he was impressed when you could talk it right back. He listened carefully, hanging on to the end of every sentence like a fish on a hook. You had told him all the stories of your youth, which usually involved you and Tyler getting into all sorts of trouble; these made him chuckle, and sometimes smile mischievously as though he could use some of those memories as leverage against Tyler. He made you laugh often, recounting some of his highlights playing with Tyler and the Stars.
By the end of the night, you felt happier than, well, pretty much ever. You liked the way Jamie made you feel, and you only hoped he would feel the same. The euphoria still hung in the air. He had taken you back to Tyler’s, and walked you to the door with a “Good night” and a quick kiss on the cheek. He had said he’d be in touch soon.
You dozed off lightly, reliving the night, when your phone rang, startling you awake. You answered it, and, just as you had guessed, it was Jamie.
"Hey, I, uh.. I had a lot of fun tonight. I was wondering, if you’re not busy, I mean, maybe would you like to go out again? Tomorrow?"
