Tongue Tied

34

"Please!" Jo begged.

Alex shook her head. The guys were all going Montreal for the night. They seemed to think getting drunk the night before a wedding was a good idea. She'd have been all for it, if she wasn't maid of honour. Jo growled, laying back on her bed. She was sitting up beside him. She looked down at him and he was pouting. She rolled her eyes. He huffed and shot up.

"If you don't come, I'm gonna get really drunk and start harassing Leah!" He whined.

"Al, you have to come. You're the only way we'll get girls." Stefan stated.

"That doesn't a,"

"They see you hanging out with a mob of guys, looking better than them, and they come over, trying to get us instead of you, for some self-esteem boost when we obviously pick them over you since you're you." He explained.

"I don't know if that's more sad for you or for them." She sighed as she walked over to her suitcase.

"What are you doing?" Mack quizzed.

"Getting changed." She said, as if it was obviously.

"See, Stefan! Now she's just going to bed." Jo cried.

Nathan chuckled as he watched Alex pull out jeans, a shirt, and heels. "Yeah, to bed in jeans." He spoke.

All the guys looked at Alex. She held her heels in the air as she walked into the bathroom. Stefan shook his head while he laughed. Zach sat down beside Jo. Mack talked with Stefan, Darcy, and Andrew while Nathan stood near the door on his phone. Truth be told, he wasn't planning on using Alex as a way to get to other girls. He was planning on spending the night with her. He came to be with her.

She finished getting ready in fifteen minutes. She looked good. All of the guys were staring at her. She rolled her eyes, grabbing her clutch. She stuffed it before she walked to the door. She was still being stared at. She spun around and caught all their eyes. Some had their jaws dropped and some were close to drooling. She pulled the door open.

"Are we going?" She called and walked out of her room.

Darcy squeezed Nathan's shoulder as he walked past him. There was no chance in hell that Nathan's eyes were going to be on anyone else tonight. They took a cab to Montreal. It was probably the most expensive cab ride Alex had ever see. The guys handed the cash, plus tip, over as if it was nothing. Alex shook her head. She was forced to walk between the guys. Stefan, Darcy, and Andrew walked in front of her, Nathan, Jo, Zach, and Mack walked behind her.

"Let's grab drinks and then talk strategy." Stefan announced as he guided them to the bar.

They all ordered beers. Alex got a vodka water. It was her drink of choice. The two things she loved most were vodka and tequila. All the guys knew that, and they also knew how out of hand she could get. Zach sat down beside Alex. She was standing against the bar. She took a long sip from her glass and Zach laughed. She glared.

"Don't get too out of hand tonight, eh?" He teased.

"I can't. I have to take care of you idiots." She shot back.

Stefan started with the shots. He was making everyone take them. He got tequila, for Alex. He made a comment as he handed her one and she thanked him. The chase for girls started after that. Mack was the first to spot the one he wanted. She had long dark hair and a pale complexion. She reminded Alex of Kya. They decided on the famous act. She'd have to run over and ask for an autograph as if she hadn't known the kid for years. He stood near the girl with Andrew.

Alex let out a gasp and ran over to Mack. "Are you? Oh my god, you're Mack Weegar!" She yelped.

"Uh, yeah. Are you a fan?" He played dumb.

"Probably like your biggest fan ever!" She mocked.

Mack's eyes shifted to the side. Alex took it as him telling her to check on the girl. She was intrigued. Alex looked back to Mack, nodding. He let out a breath. Alex continued the act.

"Could I get an autograph or something?" She bit her lip.

"What's your name?" He asked as he grabbed a napkin."Katie." She spat out.

Mack pretended to sign a napkin. He really just wrote a mean name on it and handed it to Alex. She smiled at it and stated up at him. The girl came over. Mack turned to her. They said pleasantries before her eyes shifted to Alex. She looked back to Mack who noticed. He spun around and looked to Andrew.

"Hey, Andrew, maybe you could take our friend Katie for a walk?" Mack suggested.

Andrew nodded, leading Alex away. Once they were far enough, they both burst into laughter. Alex continued listening to the conversation. The girl was feeding into his fame act. A hand rested on Alex's back and she spun around to see. It was just Stefan. He had a beer in his hand with a grin on his face. He needed her help now. She downed her drink, smacking the glass on the table when she finished it. Stefan took her over to the girl.

Alex was exhausted. She had gotten all the guys with girls, besides Zach, who was in a relationship, and Nathan, who she hadn't seen all night. Jo had managed on his own. He was really drunk and started crying about Leah. Like, full blown tears. Alex held him for a bit before a mob of girls came over, and she was off. She sat in the corner of the bar by herself. She was hiding truthfully, but it didn't work. Some guys approached her. She let out a sigh.

"Babe, you shouldn't be alone in a place like this." One of the guys hummed.

"I'm not." She smiled. "I'm here with some friends," She spotted Nathan two steps away. "And my boyfriend's right there. Nathan!"

He looked over. He saw the situation and understood why he was being called. He nodded, paying the bartender and bring his beer with him. He slid between the guys and to Alex. He wrapped an arm around her waist, bringing his lips to hers. It was a messy kiss and they both got too into it. Alex's hands held his face, pulling him closer as their tongues played. The alcohol had to be a large factor. They slowly pulled apart, the guys already having left them.

"That was a little much." She panted.

"I gotta play the part of your boyfriend." He shrugged.

"That was a little over playing." She stated.

"I'm passionate about my role." He smirked.

She rolled her eyes. It was nice, she wouldn't deny that. They talked for the rest of the night. She sat on a stool for the time they chatted while he stood beside her. They were laughing about a lot of things. He made sure to plant a smooch on her every time a guy approached her. She told him he could stop at anytime, but he was enjoying the reactions of everyone too much. Zach pulled an extremely intoxicated Jo over, and they agreed it was time to head home.

Alex gasped as she nearly fell into the room. Nathan grabbed her waist, keeping her up. She laughed as she regained her balance and staggered to her bed. She dropped face down in it. Nathan laid down beside her. He rubbed her back as they laid there. It was just an action of comfort, but it was getting Alex heated. She rolled over to face him. His eyes were shut and his breathing was shallow. She sighed and his eyes slowly opened.

"You okay?" He asked.

"I'm drunk and you should probably stop that." She stated.

He laughed and wrapped his arms around her shoulders. She rested against his chest. This isn't what she meant by 'stop that'. Her arms wrapped around his torso instinctively. She knew he was asleep by the way his breathing was slow. She decided she was stuck so she might as well join him.

Alex woke up with a massive hangover the next day. She was convinced Sabrina was going to murder her. She showered and got dressed to quickly run for coffee. As she pulled open the door, she spotted Nathan coming down the hall with coffee in a tray and some food. She let out a soft moan. He was an angel. He smiled at her as he brought it in. She walked over to the bed and sat.

"I got all your usuals, well that you ate when we were together." He explained.

She pulled the bagel out of the Tim Horton's bag. Plain, toasted, buttered. She thanked him before she began to demolish it. He chuckled, watching her. She never felt self-conscious about eating around the guys, but she was right now. She slowed down, taking small bites. She didn't understand why she felt the need to. He didn't seem to notice since he wasn't focusing on her.

"So I ran into Sab and she said you're getting all the treatment the other bridesmaids are first." He began. "Like, the make up artist will be here at like twelve, maybe, I can't remember, and then you'll go down, get changed with the rest of them and yeah."

Alex nodded. "Okay, thanks."

She felt uncomfortable. Maybe because of last night, maybe because he was an idiot. She knew what she had to do today. Her sister only told her everyday. She ate in silence. He didn't look at her. He could tell she was uncomfortable. He knew it was his fault. Maybe it was because of how he acted the night before, but she got just as into it at points. She finished eating and cleaned up. She changed and waited for the make up artist to come.

"Hello!" A voice called as they walked into the room. It was one of her sister's oldest friends, Tiffany. "Oh my god, Alex! You're absolutely stunning! You've thinned out so much!"

"Yeah, thanks." Alex nodded, hugging her."I'm so glad the blonde's out of your hair, I did n," Tiffany froze, noticing Nathan. "You're still with him?"

"Yup." Alex sighed, knowing her sister thought.

Nathan walked over, wrapping an arm around Alex's waist. He pressed his lips to her cheek. Tiffany squealed. She pulled out a professional camera. Alex held in a growl. Nathan patted her side to calm her down. It worked better than either thought it would. She leaned into him a bit. Might as well use his build to her lazy advantage. "I must get a picture of you two for the wedding picture. The next Roy bride." Tiffany announced.

Alex laughed. "I'm only nineteen. No marriage plans."

"Yet." Tiffany winked.

"Yeah, yet." Nathan nudged her.

"Oh my god! Okay, give him a big kiss so I can take it. I've made all the couples do that." Tiffany stated.

Alex turned to face Nathan. His hands held onto her waist. She rested her hands on his chest. She looked up at him. She hated that she had to pretend to still be young and in love with him for her sister. He gave her a reassuring smile. Tiffany said she was ready and Nathan brought his lips to Alex's. He squeezed her side, causing her to smile while they kissed. The flash went off and they slowly pulled apart.

"So cute." Tiffany cried. "Okay! Time for make up!"

Tiffany started on Alex's hair first. She brushed it out. Nathan watched in amazement. It always fascinated him with how much girls out into their appearances. Tiffany straightened most of Alex's hair. It was a rough straighten, just to make her hair easier to deal with. Tiffany twisted it before pinning it into a bun. She pinned it in many places and sprayed unhealthy amounts of hairspray.

"Now we do make up." Tiffany sang, unzipping Alex's hoodie. She had a strapless bra on underneath. "You can't wear this necklace."

Alex furrowed her brows before she looked down. It was the necklace Nathan got her. He looked surprised that she was still wearing it. She sighed, attempting to unclasp it. The fake nails she was forced to get weren't letting her. Nathan took it from her tiny fingers. He unclasped the necklace and set in on the bed side table. Alex got chills when she felt his hands on the back of her neck. Tiffany smiled before she began doing Alex's make up.

Once she was done, Alex had to go down to where the rest of the bridesmaids were. She gave Nathan a goodbye peck to keep the charade up. She carried her dress down to her sister's room. Tiffany touched up everyone. Alex had a different dress from everyone else. Obviously, Sabrina had her over the top wedding dress. It was a combination of white with the same shade of peach as Alex's dress throughout it. Her dress was a long gown. It was peach and pleated with a slit at the chest. It made her look tan and she loved it. She had diamond studs and silver strap heels. The rest of the bridesmaids were in white dresses.

"Al, can you come with me for a minute?" Sabrina smiled, grabbing Alex's hand.

Alex followed her. Sabrina led her to the balcony of her room. She smiled as Alex sat in one of the chairs. Sabrina placed a long velvet box on Alex's lap. Alex opened it slow. It was a white gold heart pendant necklace. Her jaw dropped as she lifted it. There were diamonds lining one side and one round of the heart. She looked up at Sabrina with tears in her eyes.

"I wanted you to have something to wear tonight and so you'll remember that you're still the most important person in my life." Sabrina explained.

Alex leaned forward, wrapping her arms around her sister's shoulders. "I love you, Sab."

"I love you too, and it'd be nice to get a phone call once in a while." Sabrina chuckled.

"I know. I'm sorry." Alex sighed as she sat back. "But I promise I'll start."

The wedding was next. Nathan sat in the sea of people, waiting for it to start. Linda walked in and sat. He knew the ceremony was about to start. The minister, Jo's brother, and Jo. Pairs of the bridesmaids with their ushers. Alex came behind the pairs. Nathan felt winded. She had actually taken his breath away. She looked stunning. She smiled as everyone watched. She met Nathan's glance. His jaw was dropped. She felt her face heat when she noticed that. Tiffany's niece and nephew walked behind Alex, one being the ring bearer and the other being the flower girl. Sabrina stepped out with Jo's dad. Since Alex and Sabrina never had their father in their life, he agreed to walked her down the aisle.
