Tongue Tied

44

"There's a storm coming in, I guess." Alex shrugged in her bed.

"Are you alright? Do you wa,"

"I'm fine. I was just about to go to bed, anyway. Erica's gone somewhere and I'm sure Alexa and Kya are sleeping, or waiting for Ry and Tyson so,"

"I can come over if you want me to." Nathan cut her off.

"No, I don't want you to be in any discomfort. You have your whole set up for your leg at home." She rolled her eyes at her phone.

"I'm coming over." He stated.

"Nathan, you just got back from St. Louis and you're hurting. I'm fine!" She growled.

"I'm glad that you're fine but I still want to see you." He explained.

"We can meet up tomorrow!" She exclaimed.

"Leaving now. Love you." He sang before he hung up.

She rolled her eyes again as she pulled the phone away from her ear. She started watching some TV while she waited for Nathan. The TV cut out into static before it shut off along with all the lights. Alex jumped. It was like a scene from a horror movie. She sighed and sent Nathan a text, instructing him to stay home. It sent as an actual text, due to everything being down. She started to do other things she could without light.

She painted her nails, a nice pink colour and her toes were a pale blue. She checked her laptop battery. It was full. She decided to watch a movie on that. She never got a response from Nathan, but she thought nothing of it. She started up a movie and looked out the window. All she could see was white. It was probably the worst storm they'd see all winter. She sent Nathan another text, wondering why he wasn't responding. A smash outside and a car horn blaring caused Alex to shriek. She looked out the window again. A car had definitely swerved into a pole. She frowned.

Sirens began to blare. Alex ignored them and started watching The Conjuring. Nothing really scared her until the part where the girls were in the room and it showed the creature on top of the wardrobe. She let out a scream. There was a knock on her door and she screamed again. The knob wiggled and she felt her heart racing. She slowly rose from her bed, carrying her phone close to her. She could feel the tears running down her cheeks. She was terrified. She was about to be murdered.

She peeked through the hole in the door. She saw a familiar mop of head. She took a deep breath as she unlocked the door and slowly pulled it open. Nathan looked up and she pounced into his arm. He was cold and covered in snow but she didn't care. Her legs wrapped around his waist and her arms around his neck. He walked into her room, closing the door behind them. He set her down by her bed so he could change out of his clothes. He looked and saw she had tears on her cheeks.

"Woah, were you crying?" He frowned.

She laughed, wiping her eyes. "I thought you were a murder." She confessed.

He shook his head. "Why didn't you answer my messages?" He exclaimed.

"I didn't get a single message!" She told him, showing her phone.

"I almost died for you!" He cried. "And I'm freezing!"

She smiled. "You're the sweetest boy ever. Now take off your clothes and I'll warm you up." She teased.

He chuckled and started removing his layers. She gave him a change of clothes he had left in the past. She tucked him into her bed, stealing Erica's blankets for extra warmth. She hung his clothes over the shower rod to dry. She put on something warmer for herself before she crawled in and cuddled up to him. He put on Modern Family instead of The Conjuring. Alex watched him as he watched her laptop. You could see him slowly dosing off. She smiled and gave him a kiss before she closed her eyes.

The next morning consisted of about the same thing. Luckily, the power had come back so they could charge everything they needed. They stayed cuddled throughout the morning until Nathan's skate was nearing. They had argued about how she had to come to the game. She was terrified since it was against Boston and they weren't the nicest of fans. He promised nothing would happen to her if she went. After she gave her final answer of her not coming, Nathan caved and let her stay home. She walked him to the door of her room.

"Good luck, I l,"

The door swung open, hitting Nathan. Erica gasped and looked in. She was a mess. Her hair was frizzy and in a disgusting bun on top of her head. She had the same clothes she left in on. Her make up was all smudged. She hooked up with someone. Alex's jaw dropped and Erica frowned. She knew she was caught. Alex crossed her arms, standing in front of her roommate. Erica let out a growl.

"Who was it?" Alex cocked a brow.

"No one of importance." Erica declared before she dropped on her bed. "Random from the bar."

Her head popped up with her brows furrowed. She spotted her blankets on Alex's bed and grabbed them, cocooning herself. Alex looked at Nathan then back to Erica. She was laying in the fetal position. Alex shook her head and turned back to her boyfriend. He had his lips puckered out to her. She grabbed his mouth and pecked it quickly. He pouted. She smiled and gave him a longer kiss, with a bit of tongue to tease.

"Go, have fun, win, don't get hurt." She instructed, kissing him again."

You don't need anymore shots to your mug of a face." Erica spat.

"You're looking great too, Erica!" Nathan called.

"Eat my ass, MacKinnon." She hissed from under the blankets.

"Are you sure you don't want to come?" He frowned at Alex.

"What!" Erica yelped, peeking out. "Of course we want to come!"

"No,"

"Yes. Leave us a pair with the other two, okay, MacKinnon?" Erica instructed.

He nodded. "See you then." He grinned at Alex and kissed her.

"Hate you." Alex pouted.

"Yeah, okay." He chuckled, kissing her once more.

She closed the door behind him and glared at Erica. "Who did you fuck?"

"I don't know. I got drunk and it got messy." She sighed from her bed. "But maybe I can get Smith ass tonight."

"What?"

"Reilly Smith. He plays for the Bruins." Erica said as if Alex was retarded.

Alex nodded before she walked into the washroom. She decided that she needed to get ready first since Erica usually took longer. Erica watched Alex. She didn't seem like she really wanted to go. Erica frowned and stood, walking into the washroom. She crossed her arms and rested against the door frame. Alex looked at her in the mirror with a cocked brow. Erica rolled her eyes.

"If you don't want to go, we don't have to." She sighed.

Alex shook her head. "It's not that I don't want to go."

"What is it?"

"I don't want to see Nathan play Boston." She whined. "He's so dainty and they're all vicious."

Erica burst into laughter. "Dainty? Sure, he's a pale little bitch but the kid's over six foot and near 200 pounds, Al."

"Exactly! He's a bitch!" Alex pointed out.

"He'll be fine. Stop being dumb." Erica shook her head.

Erica was right, of course. Erica was always right. That's why Alex loved having a friend like her. She always kept her head out of the clouds. The four girls went down, showing their passes attached to the lanyards they came on. They waited in the room for family, friends, and lucky fans. Nathan was the first of the boyfriends to walk in. Gabe guided him in before he walked over to fans. Nathan walked over to Alex and pecked her lips. She smiled into it. They had won the game so everyone was ringing.

"Erica needs a favour." Alex smirked.

"I do?" Erica cocked a brow

.Alex nodded. "Think you could take her over to meet Smith?"

Erica gasped. "I was kidding!"

"Smith, huh?" Gabe invaded. "Kinda looks like a chimp."

"I think he's cute." Erica stated.

Alex nodded. "He has a nice smile." Nathan glared at her. "But not as nice as yours." She added, kissing him again.

Gabe nodded his head once. "Nice." He spat before he stomped out of the room.

Alex looked from the door to Erica. Erica shrugged. Alex looked up at Nathan who just shook his head. Gabe had no reason to be mad. They had just won and he was one of the three stars of the night. Alex sighed, leaning against Nathan. He held her for a bit before everyone else filed into the room. After a bit of socializing, the group headed out. They invited Gabe along but he didn't show. Erica left early. Something about her still not being 100% after her night before.

"We're excusing ourselves." Nathan said, pulling Alex away from the other four.

"Fuckfest?" Alexa asked.

"No, I'm just gonna take my girl out." He explained, wrapping his arms around her waist.

"Have fun, kids. Have her home by midnight." Ryan mocked, pointing a finger at him.

Nathan laughed as he led Alex out to his car. They drove in silence, his hand on her thigh. His thumb was stroking it slowly and gently. She smiled at his hand. He pulled up to the diner they got in the fight out front of. She laughed as he smiled at her innocently. She shook her head when he pulled the car into park.

"It's my favourite place in Denver." He sighed.

She nodded. "It's fine, let's go." She shushed him, opening the car door.
