The First One
Chapter 10
Rylee hadn’t really expected to have so much fun. The food was delicious and the people were great. She’d spent some time talking to Shawn Thornton about his hockey career and that she’d seen him play before. He was a charming guy and really nice, despite the rough exterior. They integrated her into their conversations like she’d been with them for a long time and had not just joined them that day.
She couldn’t remember the last time she’d felt that good and had had so much fun. Her heart had warmed every time she’d looked at Adam. Thinking about talking to him in a bit scared her somehow. Luckily, Dougie would still be there. He lived in the apartment as well, after all.
When everyone had gone home, Dougie turned towards the two of them and said: “Tyler’s waiting downstairs for me. He wants to go over to Brad’s and watch a movie or something. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Crap. So much for Dougie being there with them. Adam turned to her and took her hands in his. She stood completely still until he tugged on her hands to make her come closer.
“Stay tonight,” Adam said looking in her eyes. He let go of her hands and cupped her face.
“I can’t.”
“Why?” He leaned his forehead against hers. God, he wanted her to stay, to wake up next to her.
“I’m about to get married.”
“To a guy you don’t love.”
“Adam…”
“Look me in the eyes and tell me that you love him. Hat you don’t want to be with me and that you’re happy with him, with the life you’re leading right now.” He pulled against his body, looking deep in her eyes, not giving her the chance to look away.
“I can’t. I can’t tell you any of that, because I can’t lie to you.”
That was all Adam needed. He tilted her head back a little so that he lips opened to him and he could kiss her. Slow, sensual kisses that made her knees weak. She wrapped her arms around his neck and held onto him when he picked her up and carried her to his bedroom. He carefully lay her down on the bed and climbed on top of her, resting his weight on his elbows.
He looked down on her, a smile on his lips, but then he lowered his head and trailed kisses along her neck down to her shoulder. He only let go of her to take of her clothes. He threw them all off the bed and looked down at her naked body. He’d seen it so often, remembered what it looked like, but she’d changed. She looked softer, more female.
Before she could get self conscious again, he whipped off his shirt and leaned down to kiss her again. When he felt her hands at his belt, he couldn’t help but smile. While Rylee shoved his jeans and his boxer briefs down, he tried to concentrate on kissing her, but all that didn’t work anymore when her soft hands wrapped around his hard dick. He inhaled sharply and looked in her eyes.
“After all these years I still feel the same way about you,” he whispered against her lips.
“Stop it! You’re making me blush.”
“I won’t stop with anything at this point.” He grinned at her, making her smile as well. He sealed her lips with his, ran a hand down her body and between her legs, stimulating her a little. She gasped when he pushed her hand aside and buried himself inside her. Looking down in her eyes, he took hold of her hands and intertwined their fingers. He moved slowly at first, building up his pace, all the while not taking his eyes off her face. The face that he’d missed for years, that he still loved.
He kissed her again. Over and over again, like it was the best thing in the world. Rylee bit down on his bottom lip, sending a jolt of pain through his body, but it only thrived him on and he thrust in her a little harder, faster. He let go of her hands and wrapped his arms around her.
“Adam…” Rylee whispered his name, wrapped her legs around him and her arms. She couldn’t get close enough to him. He was still holding her close, when she felt his fingers between her legs to stimulate her in addition, and that was when she lost it. She dug her fingernails in his back when she came, moaned against his neck. When Adam felt her orgasm, he let go himself, and collapsed on top of her.
There was silence between them for a few minutes, only their breathing filled the room. Rylee still had her arms wrapped around Adam. When he finally raised his head to look at her, she pushed back his hair and kissed him.
“How does a shower sound?” He cocked his head to one side, examining her face, which was flushed and looked really happy.
“Really good, but I’m afraid I can’t move.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll carry you.” Adam grinned and slowly got up. Yeah, they were definitely not finished yet.
When Rylee woke the next morning, she felt a warm body next to hers. This was unusual. She blinked a couple of times before she looked around. She recognized the room. It was Adam’s. Shutting her eyes again, she thought back to last night. No, it hadn’t been some fantastic dream, it had really happened. And boy had it been good, amazing.
Nevertheless, it had been a mistake. It shouldn’t have happened. She was still engaged and had to get home to the man she would marry. It was clear to her, that she still had the same feeling for Adam she’d had all those years ago. She couldn’t escape them. But was it worth giving up on her “relationship” with Ben? Her parents had been so happy when they’d seen her together with him.
Slowly and carefully, Rylee got out of bed, gathered her clothes and got dressed. Adam was still fast asleep, hair sticking up all around his head. He looked adorable, the man she truly loved. But that didn’t change the fact that she shouldn’t have stayed there.
She grabbed a piece of paper from the desk and wrote: I’m sorry, but I had to get home. Last night was amazing. Don’t doubt my feelings for you, but I have to go back to Ben now…
With one last look at Adam, Rylee was gone, not knowing what to do exactly.
