Sink Into Me

I kept glancing at the clock, hoping that it would magically be five o’clock so I could go home. Not only had it been the longest day ever between the phone calls and meetings I had been in, but it was also Friday which made wanting to get done with work that much stronger. At a quarter to four my boss buzzed me to tell me that he wanted to speak with me in his office right away. I walked over to his office and knocked on his door. When I heard him tell me to come in, I opened the door and took a seat.

“You wanted to see me sir?” I questioned. I knew that I wasn’t in trouble; at least, I was pretty sure I wasn’t.

“Yeah Mae, I have a huge favor to ask of you,” he started. “I know that you haven’t gone out on the road with the guys yet because I usually do that but I have to go in for knee surgery and I’ll be out for a month.” I was shocked because I had no idea that he had a problem with his knee; from the way he walked he seemed fine. He continued, “I will be able to work from home so I can head up things around here but I need you to go with them in my place while I’m out.”

Internally, I was jumping for joy. I was being given more responsibilities and another opportunity to show that even though I was young, I had what it took to go far in the business. “Umm yeah, absolutely sir,” I beamed. “Thank you for giving me this opportunity.”

He offered a smile. “Mae, you’re the only one I trust around here to handle them out on the road. You interned here for three years and have worked here for four. Plus, I know that you’re friends with some of the guys which can be an advantage to keep them in check so that your job isn’t too hard.” He and I talked for a few more minutes before he told me to go on and pack up early. “It’s been a long week. You and I have both been working hard this week so I’m sending you home and I’ll be following suit.”

I sent him a huge smile and thanked him before leaving his office to go back to my desk to start packing up my things. Once I had everything packed up, I left the offices. Halfway to my car I hear my name being yelled. I turned and saw Pat and Jon running to catch up with me. “Hey boys,” I smiled once they had caught up with me.

“Sooo…what are you doing tonight?” Pat asked me. “I was wondering…err…we were wondering,” he changed his phrasing quickly once Jon elbowed him in the side, “if you and some friends want to go out with us and some of the other guys.” He smirks and I know he’s thinking about getting laid.

“Sorry boys, but I need to get a good night’s rest,” I explain. “I have to be up bright and early to meet your asses at the airport.”

“Wait,” Jon finally speaks up, “are you coming on the road with us?”

I grin and nod. “Yep! Jack is having knee surgery next week and will be out for a month. He’s running things from here and is sending me out on the road to keep your fine asses out of trouble and out of bad press.”

Jon, Pat, and I continue to talk until I tell them that I really need to go. “I’ve got errands to run but I’ll see you bright and early. Too bad I can’t go with you guys tonight; I’d have loved to have danced with you two.” I say, smiling flirtatiously.

I continue walking away and hear Pat say, “I told you she wants to fuck me. Oww.” I can only assume Jon punched Pat after that comment. I chuckle and get in my car

So this is me trying my hand at writing something longer than a one-shot in almost a year. This first chapter is short but it's more like an introduction so I'm fine with it being short.
