Five Minutes For Fighting (Completed)

Caroline sat down on her bed in the hotel overlooking Pittsburgh. A lot had happened since the Winter Classic. Kyla Callahan had Charlotte her beautiful goddaughter, Therese Lundqvist was literally about to pop out their daughter, the Rangers got to the Eastern Conference Final and were two wins away from going to the Cup Finals but lost. Trade Rumors were swirling around the Rangers like a hurricane and she was about to leave this hotel room and get drafted. "What's on your mind loser." Jacob Trouba said as he put on his suit jacket. The two had played together in the World Juniors Championship that past winter and had grown to be close friends, so it wasn't surprising when they were assigned to be roommates throughout the draft process. "Everything and nothing." She said staring down at her platinum Lilly Pulitzer wedges. Her navy Lilly dress, and the Navy blazer that was on top of it. Whenever you got drafted in the first round the boys take their Blazers off to put on their Jerseys. Jake thought she should do it too, they were all equal.

"You ready?" He said tying his shoes as she tugged at her Straightened hair. "Yeah." She said gulping. "Guyssss." Jake McCabe said knocking on the door. She opened the door and his jaw dropped. "Looking good Thomas." He said bringing her in for a hug, she didn't want to let go. "Everything will work out." Pat Sieloff said coming up from behind Ryan. "I love you guys, you know that right?" She said smirking. They had won gold together. They were family. "You fucking losers ready?" Riley Barber said in a group of himself, Alex Galchenyuk, Seth Jones, Jon Gilies and Zach Stepan. "Yeah boys." She said unwrapping her arms from Ryan and throwing her arm around Zach. "Maybe you'll get drafted by the Rangers!" She said smirking. "Yeah I won't ever make the team." He was serious. She was lucky to have a spot to begin with. "Let's go Team USA." Jake said as they all walked down to the lobby together, their families waiting for them to go into the draft with them. "Hey you." Michael Del Zotto said as she kissed him. She couldn't believe that everyone had their families with them and the entire squad of Rangers were there to support her. "Thanks guys for coming." She said her head on Michael's shoulder. "You know we wouldn't miss this." Henrik said smiling at her. "Let's go." They all got into the Bus that the Rangers had rented out.

"The Montreal Canadiens draft with the 3rd pick overall, out of the Sarnia Sting Alex Galchenyuk." Caroline stood up finding Alex as he stood up. "Yeah GALLY!" She yelled sitting down tearing up as her friend took off his blazer handing it to someone and going onto the stage. Smiling as he threw on the jersey. "With the 9th overall pick the Winnipeg Jets proudly select Jacob Trouba of the US National Development Team." Caroline smiled as she and Brady Skjei stood up and yelled "TROUBS." Tearing up more. Jake totally deserved this. Her phone pinged as she looked at it. "Rumors backstage that the Rangers are def drafting you hoping to get Brady in second round." Alex and Jake saying this made her way nervous. Teams kept picking as Brady looked behind him at the fifth row, looking at her. They were getting more nervous. One more pick before the Rangers. "With the 27th overall pick the Coyotes proudly select from the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL Henrik Samuelsson." Caroline, her whole family stood up beaming at Henrik as he came down the stairs stopping to hug her family as hopped down to the stage.

Gordie Clark the Rangers Head Scout walked up to the stage with Glen Sather, her father, Uncle Adam and the rest of the Rangers team with them. "Honey you have this." Her mother said smiling at her. The Rangers team behind her as the stomped their feet in advance trying to get good vibes for Caroline to get drafted. Gordie walked up to the podium. "With the 28th overall pick,the Rangers proudly select of the Connecticut Whale our own Caroline Thomas." Everyone in the stadium, even on the teams on the floor stood up facing her. The Team behind her freaking out. She didn't hear anything she just sat next to her mother and Michael seeing her dad and Uncle on stage about to burst into tears in proudness, she was shocked and crying herself. "I am so proud of you baby." Michael said pulling at her to get up. She stood up as she hugged her family and Brady making sure she hugged every single Ranger. Her godfathers behind her as they ran to the stage to present her Jersey to her whipping past her. "Congrats." The guy taking their blazers from the draft picks said. Everyone still standing up and clapping. "Thanks." She said beaming and crying. She made her way to the stage as she shook Garry Bettman's hand and then hugged her father and Uncle. "Grandpa Glen." She said standing in front of him. "I told you, you are worth this pick. Go get your jersey Thomas." He said wiping tears away. She grabbed the jersey and hat from her godfathers, they were messes, in pieces. "SPEECH SPEECH." Everyone said as she made her way to the podium, putting on her jersey and hat. She walked up to the podium crying.

"I want to start off by thanking my Parents Marcus and Cari, without them I wouldn't be here. I want to thank all of my Connecticut Whale teammates for pushing me to my hardest, I want to thank the entire Ranger squad for being there whenever I need you guys, you guys are truly my family. I want to thank my brothers for believing in me, and helping me along the way wether it be with my slap shot or my playmaking you guys are there for me, guiding me. Thank you to my amazing boyfriend Michael who literally will do anything for me, without your love I wouldn't be here right now. Thank you to the entire Ranger and Whale coaching staff's for believing in me when no one else would. For giving me chances no other girl has. Thank you for giving me my start. To my best friends Steven Stamkos, John Tavares, Cody Hodgson, Alex Pietrangelo, Derek Stepan, Jake Gardiner and Ryan McDonagh, Carl Hagelin, Stu Bickel and Mats Zuccarello for being my rocks throughout all these experiences we've been through together. Thank you to team USA for being the first organization to recongnize me, and giving me the chance to play in World Junior tournament after tournament all of Team USA is my family, and most of all thank you to Gordie Clark and Glen Sather for picking me to be a Ranger I can not wait to play my first official game in a Rangers Uniform, I think of myself as a Ranger, I love being one and pulling on the Red/White and Blue and being a Broadway Blueshirt. And to the NHL for letting me play in the most talented league in the world." She finished her speech as she walked off the stage being directed off.

"AHHHHH." Gally and Jake said as they through themselves at her. She couldn't believe this was happening. "You're a RANGER." They said as she smirked. "Caroline, can we have an interview?" TSN said as she nodded.

She finally found her family a couple hours later as they sat in the Pittsburgh concourse with the New York Ranger team. "Let's get out of here I have a Rangers Prospect camp I have to be at in a week." She said as the whole team and her family rushed over to her. "I am so proud of you." Her mom said grabbing her as she cried. "We love you Caroline Thomas." The team said as they exited. Her rangers jersey wet from tears of joy. This was the picture perfect day.

She was a fucking New York Ranger.
