Meeting My Parents
It’s been two weeks since I met Sidney’s parents and today is the day that he meets mine. I really like his parents and we agreed to see each other again soon, only this time with Taylor. We’re on our way to Toronto right now and I’m super excited about going. A majority of the team who is from Canada’s family is coming to the game in two nights and we’re expecting to play top notch. On my video blog I had all the Canadians crowded together and we all yelled, “Welcome home!” It was super cute! I left the boys at the airport while they went to the hotel, since it’s 7:30, and I went to my parents house. Tomorrow morning they have press, then the rest of the day to do nothing, so Sidney will come meet my parents then and spend the afternoon with them.
When I saw my sister’s car pull up I screamed as she came out, giving her a huge hug. I haven’t seen my sister in weeks and it drives me crazy! “Sissy!” I yelled. “I missed you so much!” she squealed back. I could feel the eyes of the team and a security guard. “I think we should continue this later and go home.” I laughed awkwardly. Nothing changed about the house, it was the same old, same old. I stayed up pretty late with my family catching up and whatnot and didn’t get to bed, my own bed, until 2:30!
I talked to Sidney about last night that morning and we planned to meet at the arena early that night to get reacquainted. I flashed my pass to allow me near the media room and waited. When Sidney finally arrived, he greeted me with a smile and a hug. “What? No kiss?” I teased. “Well you know, don’t want others to see.” When we pulled a part I said, “So you ready to meet my parents today?” “Yup.” “Are you nervous?” “A little?” “Why? You’ll be fine. Their gonna love you.” “I’m sure they will,” he smiled cockily, “but you try having to impress the parents of the most amazing girl in the world,” he scrunched his now. “Your too cute.” I giggled.
After the media session, which I recorded, I brought Sidney into my car and took him to my old house, just outside of Toronto. “So this is the area you grew up in?” “Yup. It’s kinda quiet eh?” “A little. Wait until the summer, then it’s gonna be a party.” I joked. My phone buzzed from my purse. “Sid can you please see who it is?” “It’s Megan.” “Perfect! What did she say?” “Uh, when and where tomorrow night?” “Tell her ‘6:30 at Ridely,’” “Your seriously not setting her up with Jordan are you?” I just smiled and stuck the tip of my tongue out through my teeth. “Brittany,” “I can’t help it! Their perfect for each other!” “Fine. But if your friend get’s her heart broken it’s all your fault. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.” “They’ll be fine, trust me, I got this.” I said as we pulled up. “Ready?” I asked. “Yup,” “Oh, wait,” I said. “What?” “Here’s a kiss for good luck.” I smiled kissing him, which soon turned into a mini make-out session.
When my mom opened the door my whole family was standing there. “Hey everybody, this is Sidney. And Sidney, this is my mom Carol, my dad Alex, my sister Jessica and my brother Kyle.” “Hi, so nice to meet you all.” He said shaking hands with everyone. My brother is a huge hockey fan and was so excited to meet him. “Would you like anything to eat or drink?” “No thank you.” He replied to my mom. After dinner my dad and brother pulled him aside and had a chat, so my mom, sister and I all talked too. “So what do you think?” I asked them. “I think he’s so nice!” my sister replied. “You two seem pretty good together, I’ll admit. Try not to lose him Britt.” “Don’t worry mom, I won’t.” I hugged her.
When I went into the family room, I noticed Sidney and Kyle were playing video games, I went over and sat on Sidney’s lap. “It’s time to get you back to the hotel.” I wrapped my arms around his neck. “I don’t need to see this go any further.” Kyle said pausing the game and getting up. I just smiled and gave him a kiss. We sad our goodbye’s and went back into my car. “Well?” “I love your family.” “Aw? Really?” I asked excitedly. “Yeah, I think I’ll get to like them even more after tomorrow.” “I know, their coming to the open practice.” “So are mine. Should we introduce them? They’ll be sitting in the same section during the game in two days.” “Maybe.” I said unsure. I wonder what it’s going to be like seeing the whole family together for the first time, even though we haven’t really been dating too long.
