Leah was furious. She was smoke blowing out her ears, punch a wall furious. She had gone over to Jonathan's apartment, before Patrick dropped her off at the airport, to return the building he had just bought her. But when she had knocked on the door about a million times and Avery, his girlfriend, had answered she took a step back.

"Oh uh is Jonathan in there?"

Avery was staring at Leah, arms crossed over her chest. She was pretty, Avery thought, not just pretty but beautiful. Avery could see why Jonathan was still so hung up on her.

Avery had two choices. She could either be a good person and go wake John from his nap, or be the jealous girlfriend and lie.

She chose the latter, "No, sorry." Avery started to close the door, Leah stopped her.

"Wait, could you give this to him? Please," Leah was desperate, she didn't want this on her mind while she was saying goodbye to New York. Avery quickly looked at the envelope in Leah's hand and saw her name scribbled in Jon's writing on the front. She scoffed, "No."

Leah was getting annoyed, "Do you have a problem with me?"

Avery laughed, a dry, unattractive cackle, "Do I have a problem with you?"

Leah raised her eyebrows, Avery continued.

"Obviously I have a problem with you, you little whore. I don't know what you're trying to accomplish by coming back here but Jonathan is happy and he's happy with me and I'll be damned if I let him break up with me, especially for you."

Leah took another step back, startled, "I'm not coming back for Jonathan if that's what you think."

Avery just smirked, "Well even if you were, you're not going to get him. He doesn't even talk about you. I never even knew you existed. When asked about ex girlfriends he just said he had a couple unimportant girls in his life and that was it. No mention of you ugly piece of shit."

Leah was ready to pummel this girl over and beat her to a pulp, but she decided against it, although she knew the team would be incredibly proud of her. So instead Leah just threw the envelope into Jonathan's apartment, and walked away. Avery laughed, knowing she had gotten the last word.

Leah stormed down the stairs, she didn't even know why she was so angry, she shouldn't be. But knowing that Jonathan never talked about her made her a little upset. She pushed it away as she walked outside his apartment building and towards Patricks idling car near the sidewalk. She slammed the door as she got in.

Patrick just chuckled under his breath, "I guess you met Avery."

------------

Avery shut the door when she saw Leah depart down the stairs. She laughed, knowing that she wouldn't be coming around here again. But when she turned around she suddenly wished she would've just taken the envelope and shut the door.

"I didn't hear you get up."

Jonathan had heard every bit of what Avery had said to Leah, and he was was unhappy as ever. He crossed his arms over his bare chest and asked, "Who was at the door?"

Avery gulped, "Just a telemarketer, nothing important." Jonathan nodded his head before looking at the envelope in Avery's hands. He nodded his head towards it, Avery looked down, "I found it when I opened the door."

"I bet," Jonathan said, sarcasm dripping from each syllable.

"Look she can't just come around and start bringing you things and think that I'm going to be okay with it."

Jonathan just kept staring at Avery as she tried to explain what had just happened, after about two minutes he interrupted her, "I think we should break up."

Avery faltered. She didn't know if he was joking or even if she had heard him right or not, "Wh--what did you say?"

Jonathan started walking towards her, "You heard me Avery, this just isn't working out anymore."

Avery scoffed, "It's not working out because you're in love with that bitch."

Jonathan nodded his head, "Yeah you're right, so you should probably start packing your stuff up." All the color had drained from Avery's face, she looked like she was about to cry, Jonathan didn't care, "I'm going for a jog, when I get back I want you gone." With that Jonathan walked out the door.

Leah was working her last day at her salon before she flew back to Chicago later that night. She had already splurged on gifts for her employees to say goodbye and since she lived alone she didn't have to worry about a roommate. So at the end of this shift she would walk out the door and hand over the reigns to her friend Sophie and never look back. Well she would probably come back and visit but she was excited to see what Chicago was going to bring her.

Leah looked at her salon one last time, she could still remember buying the place from an old arts and crafts store, how much time and effort, not to mention money, it had taken to get this place up and running and it would always have a special place in her heart, but leah knew that she wouldn't be able to accomplish many things if she stuck around and watch the salon grow. So she turned off the lights in each section of the place one by one, to make sure that etched it into her memory and then locked the door.

Her apartment had already been packed up, and her boxes had already been at Kylie's apartment since that afternoon, and since it was New York, Leah didn't have the need for a car, so the only thing that wasn't in Chicago already was her.

But in two short hours, Leah was standing in O'Hare waiting for her bags to come off the plane, trying to get ahold of Kylie, when she realized that she was going to be out of town until the next day. Leah cursed under her breath, Kylie had told her that she would need to pick up the spare key at her parents house on the way to the apartment about a week ago, Leah was such a ditz. It was too late to pick up the key, and Leah had no interest in staying in O'Hare for the night.

She tried calling Patrick, he didn't answer, she tried calling Corey, he didn't answer, and lastly she tried calling Patrick Sharp, that phone call going to voicemail as well. Leah had two options, she could take a cab to a hotel, or she could call her absolute last resort. She chose the latter.

"Hello?" His voice was groggy, she had always loved his morning voice.

"Hey it's uh me," Leah could hear some shuffling in the background, like he was getting up and out of bed. Probably so he doesn't wake his bitch of a girlfriend Leah thought. She shook her head of those thoughts.

He spoke, "Hey what's up?"

Leah still hadn't decided if this was a good idea or not, "Uh I flew in tonight and remembered that Kylie was out of town and none of the guys are answering their phones so could you maybe--"

"I'm on my way."

Leah smiled, same old Jon, "Thank you." Leah hung up the phone and ten minutes later Jon had texted saying he was here.

Leah rolled her suitcases out to Jon, where he lifted them into the trunk of the car, telling Leah to hop in the car.

It was a quiet car ride, Leah had never told Jonathan a destination of where she wanted to end up so for all she knew he was taking her back to his apartment, she quickly made sure he knew that was a bad idea, "Do you have a key to Patricks place?"

Jonathan nodded his head, "But the reason he wasn't answering your calls was because he was a little..uh…. preoccupied." Leah groaned. "You can stay at my place."

Leah looked at Jon, one hand on the wheel, the other on the gear, it was always how he drove, "I don't think your girlfriend would like that."

Jonathan coughed, "Uh.. we.. uh .. broke up.." Jonathan wouldn't look Leah in the eyes, Leah was trying to her hardest not to smile, "Oh what a shame."

Jonathan chuckled, looking over to Leah, she was just staring out the window. Five minutes later Jonathan was parking in the garage next to his building. Leah got out of the car and walked towards the trunk, but Jonathan already had both her suitcases enclosed in his palms. She frowned, he just nodded his head towards the door that would lead them to his apartment building.

When Leah had run out of Jon's apartment, she hadn't realized that she had taken fifteen flights of stairs in only about a minute and a half, but as the air got tighter in the elevator, she suddenly wished she had taken those fifteen flights of stairs again. The elevator dinged, indicating they were at Jonathan's penthouse-like apartment. He sat her suitcases near the door and then asked if she was hungry.

Leah shook her head, "Just tired." He nodded his head and then lead her to his room, "I just changed the sheets a day ago, I'll sleep on the couch."

Leah looked at Jon, frowning, "Jon this is your place I can sleep on the couch."

"Nonsense, you're my guest."

Leah wasn't going to back down, but neither was Jon, for five minutes they both say they would take the couch. Leah stomped her foot like a little kid and looked at Jon, he laughed.

"Now I remember why we didn't work out, we're both way too stubborn," Leah shook her head.

Jon stopped laughing, "I don't think that's why we didn't work out." Leah took a deep breath, going to sit on the edge of Jon's bed, she put her head in her hands. Jon walked over and sat down next to her.

"I know that it's my fault that we aren't together anymore, that I gave the ring back, that I gave up, but it wasn't any easy choice Jon, it broke me, it broke my heart breaking your heart." Jonathan looked over at Leah, tears in her eyes, and pulled her in close, kissing the top of her head. They stayed like that for a while, Leah quietly crying into Jonathan's chest and Jonathan periodically kissing her head, or temple, and telling her it was okay.

Leah lifted herself from Jon's chest and he instantly missed the head that bounced off her, he looked her in the eyes, "We'll both stay in the bed." Leah nodded her head, going into the bathroom to clean up. Five minutes later when she reemerged Jonathan was already laying in bed, shirtless, lying on his side. Leah walked over to the foot of the bed, putting her clothes on the bench that sat there and then climbed in on the empty side of the bed.

She was asleep within minutes. Jonathan rolled so he was close to her, excited that his pillow would smell like vanilla when he would sleep there tomorrow. He grabbed her waist, and almost out of instinct Leah moved so her head was on Jonathan's chest, his arms enveloping her. It was when he heard her breathing return to normal, slow and deep that his kissed her head and whispered, "If I told you I love you, what would you say?"
