Hurricane Jenny
019:
Chapter Nineteen
"Jen! Hey, Jen! Are you all right?!" I grounded and then sat up and pushing myself back onto my skates, "Are you all right?
"Yeah, just kind of surprised me," I sad as I stood up.
"I would think, you just got bulldozed by Zdeno Chara," Jesse, the Hurricane's trainer, said as he looked at me, "You sure you're all right?"
"Did they score?" I asked looking up at the jumbotron.
He chuckled and shook his head, "No, somehow you managed to cover the puck as you were being trampled," he said and I breathed a sigh of relief and then saw some of my teammates around me.
"You all right, squirt?" Jordan asked and I nodded my head, "Good."
I cracked my neck and then got back in the goal and nodded my head towards the ref that I was all right and they could resume the game.
It's been a week since my birthday and we in the middle of an away game against the Boston Bruins. It was the middle of the second period and the score was two to zero, Boston was getting frustrated that they weren't scoring goals, and I knew that they tended to act desperate towards the final minutes of a period.
I don't know what had happened, I saw a bunch of guys coming around me. I knew the Bruins Captain had the puck and was skating over towards me. I heard him shoot the puck, but just as I was about to block it, I felt this massive weight collide with me and I was on the ground.
Chara was in the box, I was in the net, the boys were in the faceoff circle, and the refs were nowhere to be found. I shook my head, ready for the game to continue on, and the refs were standing by the penalty boxes taking a break and talking.
'...Wow...' I thought as I looked over towards both teams to see that they were standing around waiting for the refs, "Are we gunna actually work?" I muttered and then heard someone chuckle behind me. I turned my head and saw Bruins' #19, Tyler Seguin skating slowly around the net and looking like he was bored.
"Sadly they do this a lot," he said and I looked at him wondering why he was even talking to me.
"Yeah well, tell them to hurry up," I growled.
"Why? You have a date or something?" he chuckled.
"Actually, I do," I said and then smirked towards him, hearing someone call his name and seeing him skate over towards the circle because the refs decided that they were going to finally get back to work.
The puck was dropped and then game was resumed, I tried not to laugh hard when I saw the ref get in the way of desperate boys as they chased after the puck and got trampled to the ground. The boys were down by the Bruins net trying to get a goal. Even though it was on the other side of the rink, I still kept my eyes on the puck, wanting to know where it was at all times.
-Eric-
"Are you all right?" I asked as I looked at my sister and saw her rubbing her left shoulder.
"I'll be fine, a little sore from when I fell. I think it hit the pole," she said and I nodded my head and then sat down next to her.
"What did Seguin say to you?" I asked because most of us were curious.
"Oh calm down, we were just talking," she said, "I said something about the refs and I guess he heard me and said that they did it a lot."
"Oh," I said and then stood up, "You should ice that shoulder."
"I will when we get back to the hotel," she said and I nodded my head and then walked away, happy to have another win under our skates.
Everyone finished getting dressed and then left the locker room, heading down the hallway and towards the exit. We walked onto the bus and I looked over towards Jen to see that she was sitting with Jordan, her knees were bent up on the seat in front of her, she had her hood up and headphones in, she was slumped in her seat, leaning her head against Jordan's arm. I looked at Jordan and he smirked towards her, she must have seen him reaching his hand out to grab one of her signature braids, because she slapped her hand away and I chuckled.
Once everyone was on the bus, we headed back to the hotel were some of us decided that we were going to go and get something to eat. Some of the guys and I walked towards her room and knocked on the door. Jen answered it and I saw that she was in pajama pants and a tank top. She had a pack of ice on her shoulder with plastic wrap around it to hold it up.
"What's up?"
"What's the chance that you'll go out to dinner with us?" Jordan asked as he leaned on the wall next to her.
"Slim to none, Beau and I are talking," she said and I smirked, "Will you pick me up something?"
"Sure," I said and then gave her braid a tug like my brothers and I always did.
"Leave my hair alone!" she yelled and we laughed as we walked down the hallway and disappeared into the elevator.
"So you think that her shoulder will be all right?" Alex Semin asked as I pressed the 'lobby' button.
I sighed and shrugged my shoulders, "I hope so, she's not acting like it's hurting so maybe she's fine."
"Man, you know that even if it was bothering her, she wouldn't tell us," Jordan said and I rubbed my face and ran my fingers through my hair.
"Yeah, I know. We've been doing so well, I hope she doesn't have to miss any games," I said and the guys nodded their heads.
"She's started to slow down though," Jeff Skinner said, "Eric, she's played six games in a row, why doesn't Coach put Ellis in?"
"Because she hasn't let a single puck past her- How she does that, I have no idea," I said and then sighed, "I'll talk to Coach about putting Ellis in, Jen does need a break."
"Who do we play next?" Jordan asked as the doors opened and we walked into the lobby.
"The Senators, we're heading there tomorrow," I said and Jordan nodded his head.
"I think we can win, give Jen a break," Jiri Tlusty said and I nodded my head, "She needs it."
-Jennifer-
"Man you look beat," Beau said I smiled towards him on the laptop.
"I am, I think we play the Senators tomorrow too," I groaned and then placed my hand on the ice pack on my shoulder.
"How is it?" he asked worriedly and I sighed.
"It's fine, take it you watched the game?" I asked and he nodded his head, "Didn't even see him coming!"
He chuckled, "Yet somehow you still managed to cover the puck."
"I'm just that good," I smiled and he nodded his head.
"Yes, yes you are."
"So how's New Jersey?" I asked because the Penguins were in New Jersey for an away game against the Devils.
"Eh, it's New Jersey," he said and I laughed and saw him pick up his laptop and then move back in his bed, lean against the wall and place the laptop on his lap, "The guys are up to their pranking ways."
"Oh yeah? What did they do now?" I laughed.
"We had a skate before and Flower crawled into Sid's bag and hid in there, jumping out when Sid opened the bag up. Scared the shit out of him!" Beau laughed and I smiled and crossed my legs, grabbing a pillow and then leaning forward.
I laughed and shook my head, "You guys are crazy, none of the guys around here really act like that."
"Well, except for Jordan," Beau said and I nodded my head.
"Yeah, there's no hope for Jordan," I laughed and then saw Beau look up and talk to someone. He yelled at someone and then I saw the laptop move.
"Jenny!" I heard and looked to see some of the Penguins crowding around the screen.
"Hi guys!" I laughed.
"What happened to your shoulder?" Kris asked, seeing the ice pack.
"Didn't you see her get bulldozed by Chara?!" I heard Beau yell and then guys looked at him and then back at the laptop.
"Are you hurt?"
"I'll live," I said and Sidney shook his head.
"You're definitely a Staal."
