He's Here For Me Daddy
*Jon’s POV*
“I’m gonna miss you so much babe.” I said as I hugged Arianna tight at the gate of her terminal. The season was starting in 3 days with a game against the Detroit Red Wings and Arianna was going back to Boston for a few months which I wasn’t exactly happy about but she needed help planning the wedding and with the season starting, I wouldn’t be home much to help, but her mom and cousins were more than willing to help her plan everything.
-Flashback 3 weeks ago-
“What do you mean you’re going to Boston for 3 months!?” I yelled as Arianna booked her ticket to Logan Airport for three weeks from today.
“Jon, you said it yourself- you won’t be able to help me plan anything because the season is starting and I can’t do all of this by myself. I need help.” She said turning in her chair to face me as I was sulking on the couch. She got up from her chair and came over next to me. “Jon you know I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t necessary but I can’t plan a whole wedding by myself and I’m not dragging half of my family out here when I can just go there. I mean you guys have 2 games in Boston within the first 2 months of the season so I’ll see you then and there is this lovely invention called video chatting that we can utilize.” She said laughing as I let out a chuckle at her last sentence.
It wasn’t her going to Boston that I was worried about- I mean I was worried about that, but it was her being alone with the Bruins all the time. Don’t get me wrong, they’re an amazing group of guys who care about her and protect her and I love them for that, but there’s a couple of them who have always wanted her and being out there, with them, for 3 months didn’t exactly sit well with me. After I didn’t say anything for a couple of minutes Arianna put the pieces together.
“Jon, are you worried about Adam and Segs?” She asked me. “I’m not worried about them; I’m worried about them spending everyday with you for three months. I trust you babe, you know that and I trust them, but I don’t trust them alone, around you.” I said nervous as to what her answer might be. We had had this argument once before about her spending a couple of weeks in Boston alone and it ended up with us not talking until she get back three weeks later and I didn’t want to relive that because this time it would be about a month and a half before she talked to me in Boston for our game.
“Jon, you have nothing to worry about. I mean I can see where you’re coming from because of my past, especially with Adam, but Bergy is always watching out for it because he doesn’t want to see us fall apart and he doesn’t want to see Adam anymore hurt than he already is and neither do I.” I said sadly as I thought about Adam. I’d been thinking about him a lot since the party and I really missed him.
“I know, I know. I just don’t want to lose you again because I know they’ll be right there making sure I don’t go near you and he’ll be first in line to take you and Tyler will be first in line to kick my ass.” I said laughing as she leaned on my chest. “Nah I think Bergy would beat him to it. Right along with Marchy if Pat ever does anything to Abby.” She laughed. “He really likes her, doesn’t he?” She could tell I was referring to Marchy liking Abby. “Yeah, but he knows it isn’t gonna happen and he’s accepted it. He’s just happy he has Abby as a friend anytime they need each other, but if Pat ever does hurt her… he’s gonna kill him.” I warned while laughing.
-End flashback-
Now, here we were, three weeks later, standing at the airport saying our goodbyes. She had said goodbye to the team and all the wives and girlfriends yesterday as we had a small going away party for her. She had said she was going to drive herself to the airport because she had an 8 o’clock flight and wanted me to sleep but I insisted on taking her. I wanted to have her as long as I could because it would be about a month until I saw her again.
“I’ll call you when I land.” She said as she let go of me. “Okay. Oh who’s picking you up from the airport?” I asked curious because she had never mentioned it. “Looch and Bergy I think. But if not them then someone else from the team because apparently they’re all dying to see me.” She said over exaggerating when she got to the dying part. “Alright well tell everyone I say hi and I will see you in a month.” I said pulling her in as I kissed her nose. “I will. I love you Jon.” She said as she looked up at me. “I love you too Arianna.” I said as I gave her one last kiss and then, just like that, she was gone and I would be without my other half for a month… this is gonna be one long month I thought as I started the drive back to our house to get some sleep.
-3 hours later-
Ladies and gentlemen we have arrived at Logan International Airport. We hope you have enjoyed your flight and hope you choose American Airlines for any flights in the future. Have a wonderful day. I heard the flight attendant say as we finally came to a stop. I got off the airplane, quickly finding the baggage claim because I had been here a million times over the past 2 years and then set off to find whoever from the team was picking me up. As I entered into the main part of the airport I saw Tuukka, Bergy, and Krejci waiting for me with open arms and big smiles. I walked up to them slowly, trying to make them wait as long as possible. When I got to them, Tuukka was the first to hug me. “Hey Tuuks.” I said hugging him tightly. Tuuks and Krech had always been like brothers to me and I had a special bond with each of them. Next to hug me was Krech and every time I saw him I felt like it had been forever since I’d seen him last. “I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve seen you!” He said saying what I was thinking exactly as I hugged him. Finally, it came time to hug Bergy. “I seriously don’t know how I live this far away from you Bergy.” I said as I hugged him as tight as I possibly could. “I know, you leave me to deal with Tyler all on my own. What did I do to deserve that punishment?” He joked as we all headed out to the car.
*Adam’s POV*
Back at the rink there was a buzz going around because we all knew that Arianna was coming back, alone, to Boston for 3 months. Yes it was to plan the wedding, but it meant I could have her to myself without worrying about Jon coming in at any moment. I know it’s wrong, but I want to make her see that she and I belong together… I want to make her feel what she used to feel for me. We were all excited, including coach, but that didn’t mean he let up at practice and we knew he wouldn’t- Arianna always made us go hard, harder than coach and he wasn’t about to feel her wrath from letting us be lazy and not do anything today pending her arrival. Krech, Tuuks, and Bergy had been given special permission to leave because they were going to get her from the airport but everyone else was at practice. It was another half an hour before we heard someone yell from where coach was standing, but it wasn’t him. “Oh come on Looch! That was a weak effort!” I turned around to see Arianna smirking as she mocked Looch’s play the way she always did. Like with many of the other guys on the team, they were like brother and sister so there was constant banter between the two of them. He went up to hug her and was followed by everyone else. I wanted to be last so I wasn’t rushed out of my hug.
“Hey!” I said as I hugged her and picked her up unexpectedly because she let out a little squeal. “Well hello to you too Mr. Happy pants.” She laughed as she sat on the bench to watch the rest of practice and then the whole team was taking her out for lunch.
*Arianna’s POV*
I didn’t know why Adam was in such a good mood, but he was and I was happy. I hated seeing that sad Adam every time I was near him, I wanted my happy, bubbly Adam that I was used to…
-Flashback-
“Babe put me down! Don’t you dare!” I screamed as Adam picked me up and brought me over to the dock. My family had rented a house on Sebago Lake just like we did every summer and this time they wanted Adam to come up with us so he did. My cousin, my mom, and my aunt had gone shopping and my uncle, dad, and cousin had gone fishing and would be gone all day. “Adam no!” I said as he threw me into the lake. It was shallow and warm but I was still gonna kill him. “Babe?” I heard him ask as I popped up on the other side of the dock and let out an evil laugh. He started to turn around, but not before I pulled him in next to me. “That’s what you get.” I laughed as he popped up to the surface and then I dunked him. Once he came back up we swam over to the boat launch, got out, and headed over to the swing by the water. “I like this.” He said as we sat there for a while. He was sitting normally on the swing while I was at an angle with my feet up on the swing and my head on Adam’s chest as his arm was around me. “What?” I asked as I played with his fingers. “This.” He said making a gesture in the air that meant everything. “I like being here with you and your family and just being a normal couple and not have to worry about practice or interviews. I like getting to be us normally. I mean I can honestly see myself doing this for the rest of my life with you.” He said as he kissed the top of my head. We stayed there in silence for a little while as it started to get dark.
I felt my phone buzz and it was a text from my mom saying to meet the whole family at Rick’s Café in about an hour and a half. “Babe we need to go to Rick’s in an hour and a half.” I said to Adam as he played with my hair. “Mhm.” He murmured as he positioned my head in his lap and leaned down for a kiss. “I love you Arianna.” He said as he kept his face close to mine. “I love you too Adam.” I don’t know why it happened then or what made us feel ready, but before I knew it we were upstairs, in bed, doing something I’d never done before.
An hour later, after Adam and I had both showered and I was getting ready, he came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my still bare waist as I had only put my bra and underwear on. “I love you.” He said as he kissed my neck and rested his head on my shoulder. “I love you too.” I said turning to face him and giving him a kiss. About 45 minutes later we were at the restaurant and Nick had asked what took us so long “Oh… we just lost track of time looking at the lake. It’s gorgeous out there.” I said as I leaned into Adam’s arms. “Yeah... Best time of my life up here.” He said smiling down at me and I knew he wasn’t referring to just the lake.
-End flashback-
After practice Segs and I decided to go out for lunch because I wanted some alone time with my best friend in the whole world aside form Abby and Bergy. “Where the hell are you taking me?” I asked him as we got into his car because he insisted on taking me somewhere special. “You’ll see soon enough.” He said with a mischievous grin. I just sigh, instantly regretting letting him take me somewhere I didn’t know about, but as soon as we pulled up I was happy I had let him. We were at a little café about 2 blocks away from where my apartment was. “Wow, I haven’t been here in a really long time.” I said as I shut my car door. “Me either. I figured it would be fun to come back to the place I first got to know you.” He said smiling as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder and led me into the small restaurant.
-Flashback-
*Tyler’s POV*
“Hey.” I said as I skated up to Arianna a few minutes before practice ended. She was sitting with Gia on her lap playing a game I couldn’t recognize. “Hey.” She responded putting Gia on the floor. They were sitting on the bench where we sat during games so there was no way for Gia to get out unless she could reach the lock on the gate to open where the locker rooms were. “So, uh, I was wondering if after practice you maybe wanted to grab some lunch. I mean you’re gonna be here for the next few months so I thought it’s be nice to get to know each other.” I said smiling at her. “Uh, sure. I’ll be up in my dad’s office so just come get me there when you’re ready.” She said as she picked up Gia and I heard the whistle blow signaling that practice was over. “K see ya in a few. Bye Gia!” I said waving to the little girl who reached out for a hug. “Well she never does that.” Arianna said looking shocked as I held her and gave her a hug. “Well then she must like me.” I said poking Gia’s nose which made her laugh. “I guess so.” Arianna said as I handed her Gia and skated off the ice.
“Hey what was all that about?” I heard next to me as Marchy skated up. “Oh nothing I’m just taking her out to lunch to get to know her.” I said as we got to the locker room. “David said she’s off limits Segs.” I heard Bergy say from behind me. “Guys, relax, I just want to get to know her a little better. I’ve got a feeling we’re going to be seeing a lot of her over the next couple of years.” I smiled at the thought of getting to see her a lot. There was no denying she was gorgeous, but if she was smart and funny like I’ve heard from her cousin Nick, then she’s going to be hard to resist. “See ya guys later.” I called as I was the first one out of the locker room and made my way up to David’s office. When I got up there Arianna was laughing at something Nick had said and it got really quiet once I walked in. “Yes Tyler?” David asked as he looked at me. “Oh he’s here for me daddy.” Arianna said grabbing her purse and giving Gia a kiss on the head. “He’s gonna tell me all about Boston and show me around. Don’t worry I’ll be back in a little while.” She said giving him, her uncle, and Nick a kiss on the cheek as we walked out the door. “Gee he wasn’t kidding when he said you were his princess.” I said as I thought about their shocked faces when she walked out of the office without waiting for an answer. “Always have been, always will be.” She laughed. I brought her to a little café that not many people knew about so we wouldn’t be interrupted and 4 hours later, I had found out everything about her and vice versa and knew that this girl was gonna be fun to have around for the next few years.
