One Magical Night

Just Some Girl Talk

While she was driving back to Harvard, she mentally thanked her uncle for telling her to go to North Avenue Beach in the first place, or else she never would've hooked up with Jonathan. He was one of the few people, that she actually knew over here, and hanging out with him today sure made her day.

Even though his best friend Patrick Kane had threatened her to stay away, she wasn’t going to go down without a fight.

She dialed the number of her best friend from college, Christina. She told her to come over, since she lived just outside of Chicago. She happily accepted the invitation and told her that she would be over right away.

Christina was actually closer to her house than she was, since she was all the way at the opposite end of the windy city of Chicago. She drove across the bridge, over the river and passed the United Center’s arena building.

When she got back to her apartment, Christina, her closest female friend, was watching a movie on the couch. She greeted her friend and dropped her stuff off, before heading into her room. She took a quick shower to wash the sand out of her hair and then quickly dried off and went to get her night outfit out.

As she picked through her wardrobe, she decided on one of her many pairs of Blackhawks’ sleepwear. She slipped into the black pants with the team logo patterned into the fleece material and pulled on the matching top, which had a cute red heart etched in the center, with the words, “I love the Chicago Blackhawks.” She changed into the pair of pajamas and joined the woman out on the couch.

They were going to have a little girl talk and a sleepover together. It was something Aaralyn hadn’t done since grade school. She knew that Christina was going to ask her where she’d been all day, and she was going to tell her friend everything. She had to.

Christina paused the movie and turned to her friend. She sat cross-legged on the couch in a pair of black pants with pink dogs printed all over them. The slightly older woman tucked a strand of her dark brown hair behind her ear. She was ready to gossip with her girl friend.

"I was at my uncle's house, then I drove to North Avenue Beach," I told her.

"You were at North Avenue all by yourself? Did you see the sunset?" she asked excitedly.

"Yes, it was absolutely breathtaking. And no, Jonathan was with me," she replied.

Christina raised an eyebrow. Aaralyn realized that she hadn’t told her friend the news about meeting him yet. It had all happened so fast and fairy tale-ish. "Jonathan...?" she questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"Toews."

"As in the hockey player? Wait a minute, you know him?" she squealed, instantly recognizing the famous name. Her brown eyes glittered with a fangirl gleam to them, as she straightened up, beaming largely.

"Yeah, we've met a few times," Aaralyn said, passively like it was no big deal. Her friend gently swatted at her with the back of her hand.

She played the movie once more, but turned the volume down on the TV. It was more of background noise. During the movie, Aaralyn told her friend about the times she’d ran into Jonathan Toews, the Chicago Blackhawk hockey player, and how they had hung out. How they had enjoyed a magical night together and had sex. She even told her about them hooking up on the beach, under the gorgeous sunset and how he had promised not to make her upset, take advantage of her, or hurt her in any way.

Christina listened with vivid interest to the story. She was in awe of her friend and she told Aaralyn that she was the luckiest girl alive.

But then the mood changed.

“So you and him-----kissed?” the brunette questioned.

“Yeah. We agreed to hook up as boyfriend and girlfriend and he kissed me, on the lips!” Aaralyn excitedly retailed, licking her lips and tasting the faint trace of Jonathan’s lips on her own.

“I’m so happy for you and hate you so much right now! You got a famous hockey player to kiss you! Damn you Aar!” She playfully frowned at the redhead.

“I know, I know. I’m so lucky. But here’s the thing, Chris, he walked me back to the car and Kaner came up!”

“Whoa!” she blushed at the mention of the blonde haired man. (Patrick Kane was her crush! Though not for long...) “You met Kaner? You met Lil’ Peekaboo?” She squealed and her face flushed deeper in color, as she thought about her favorite hockey player on the team.

“I met Shawzy, Saader, and Sharpy as well!”

“You are such a lucky woman!”

“Yes, I am. But Kaner, he, he ---- he hates me for some reason!”

“Are you sure?” She looked a little shocked that her crush was playing a villain type role. “Was he teasing?”

“No, he was completely serious and he threatened me, Chris. He told me that I couldn’t see Tazer anymore and if I did, he wouldn’t allow it! He told me to stop seeing him, not to hang out with him anymore. And he also pushed me, roughly!”

“That doesn’t sound like Kaner!”

“It was!! I’m not lying!!”

Christina shook her head. “Aar, Kaner’s not a mean person. Maybe it was someone else!”

“No it was definitely Kaner!”

“Peekaboo threatened you?? But why, he’s such a sweetheart!”

“Most of the time, he is. But he just doesn’t like me. Something happened to him and he thought he recognized me as someone he knew! But I’ve never bumped into him in my life, before the night at the bar, when I saw him and of course in my dreams!”

“So what are you going to do?”

“I don’t know, Chris, I just don’t know. I can’t let Kaner call the shots and win. Tazer and I are in love and nothing he can do or say will change that!”

“You’re absolutely right. Maybe Kaner was having a bad day or something. Don’t let it affect yours and Johnny’s new relationship. If you two are madly in love, continue to see each other and hang out! I’m sure Patty’s fine with you two!”

“Thanks Chris. I needed to hear that.”

“Hey, that’s what friends are for, right?”

“Exactly!”

The both of them ended up falling asleep on the couch, with the TV still on. Aaralyn could still taste the Beach Breeze, which still lingered in her mouth. And on top of that, she still felt the touch of Jonathan’s lips on hers, as they had actually shared a kiss with one another.

Notes

That’s funny...I thought about how ironic Christina’s comment was, “Peekaboo threatened you?” Ha! Peekaboo is such a kiddy name.
That’s like saying that an adorable little kitten named Fluffy bit you!
Think about it if the announcer for the Chicago Blackhawks games suddenly broke out with, “Lil Peekaboo’s getting in a fight!” That’s hilarious! I would pay to see that!
Last update for this story for the day!
Flood of ideas! AHHH!!!
