“What the hell?” Holiday cried, watching Michael check another kid into the boards.

“He’s honestly trying to kill someone.” Taylor gasped.

“Maybe he’s just mad about the score.” Audrey shrugged, watching the game.

It was a bad game. The Falcons were losing 3-0. It was kind of embarrassing. Cheering was heard and Audrey growled. She added another tally to the visitor’s score then waited for the ref to come over and tell her the goal scorer. The ref came over and smiled at her.

“Seventeen from twelve.” He spoke before skating off.

Audrey wrote them down and looked back up, waiting for the puck drop. Number seventeen skated past the box to get to his spot. He blew Audrey a kiss with a wink. She grimaced at him, shaking her head. Sam watched the exchange from the bench. He never felt so angry before. He couldn’t wait to get on the ice. Mark came off and Dustin sent Sam on.

Sam nailed the guy that winked at Audrey. It was a clean hit and he had the puck. Sam smirked before he was cross-checked from behind. Audrey shot up, covering her mouth. Holiday and Taylor looked at each other, then Audrey. Sam was down. Griffin went at the guy that cross-checked him. The whistle blew and Taylor pushed the button to stop the clock.

Michael and another guy were into it as well. Jacob grabbed a guy and held him back from going into the fight. Nick stood above Sam, making sure his teammate was alright. Sam sat up slowly. He was fine, just a little taken by surprise. Nick laughed, shaking his head at him. Sam smirked. The referee came over to check on Sam.

“Everything feel alright?” He asked.

“Yeah, just a shock.” Sam chuckled.

“He’ll be getting a misconduct, don’t worry.” The ref winked before skating off.

Nick helped Sam up and the arena applauded. Michael had ended up beating the shit out of the guy he called on. Michael threw his arms up and the fans cheered. Griffin just shook the kid that hit Sam a bit, considering the size difference between Griffin and everyone. Michael was sent to the change room, since he had a cut above his eyebrow. Griffin was sent to the box, as well as the guy that cross-checked Sam. The guy Michael fought was taken to his change room.

The game ended 3-1. Curtis scored the only goal for the Falcons. Audrey signed the scoresheet and gave it to the refs to sign. She gave the nice sheet to the visitor’s coach and the yellow sheet to her dad. He kissed the top of her head while she walked by. She spotted Sam and took a deep breath.

“Hey,” She called. He looked over. He put his bag down and walked over. “Are you alright?”

He nodded. “Yeah, thanks.” He gave her a closed-lipped smile.

Michael stormed out, shoving the change room door open. Audrey looked at him with furrowed brows. He had his nostrils flared, like he was slowly transforming into a bull. He met her eyes and they were dark. She didn’t excuse herself from Sam, she just followed Michael.

“Michael, are you alright?” She asked, finally catching up to him.

“Yup.”

“Can you stop? I have stubby legs!” She whined, jogging to keep up with him.

“What, Audrey? I’m fine.” He growled. She cocked a brow, crossing her arms. “I just want to go see Dani.”

Audrey’s face turned into a smile. “You’re so in love!” She cooed.

“Oh god. Okay, goodbye, Audrey.” He shook his head, walking past her.

Michael walked outside. He spotted the guy he fought, flicking him the finger. The guy looked away as he walked to his own car. Michael threw his bag into the back of his mom’s car. He slammed shut the trunk and climbed in the front. She gave him a shake of her head.

“Do not slam my car door because you had a bad game.” She scolded.

“Sorry.” He mumbled in return.

“Nice fight, though. I’ve never seen you so a,”

“Can you drive me to Danielle’s?” He cut her off.

She froze for a minute before she smiled. “Of course, dear. Don’t you want to shower first?”

He shook his head. “I did in the change room. I just want to see Dan.” He explained as he clasped his seatbelt.

“Okay, Danielle’s it is.” She sang before pulling out of the parking lot.

His mother talked his ear off the entire drive. She told him all about how angry Paul and Theresa Reinhart were when Sam was hit. Michael just noted that it was a bad hit. Next, she went on about how she loved how Dustin always mixed up the lines. Michael added that it was because all of the team got along and had good chemistry.

They finally pulled up to Danielle’s house. Michael was unbuckled and had already kissed his mom’s cheek before she even stopped the car. When she did, he hopped out and walked up to Dani’s door.

She opened it and gave him a look of confusion. “Hi?”

“Hi, can I come in?” He asked, stepping inside.

“Yeah, of course.” She closed the door before rubbing his back. “Are you alright? Taylor texted me and said you were going crazy.”

“It was just a bad game.” He exhaled. “I’ve never played a high school hockey game without you there.”

“I’m sorry.” She frowned. “I just didn’t feel well today.”

“I’m mad at you.” He glared.

“Then why are you here?” She crossed her arms.

“Because I wanted to kiss you.” He explained before pressing his lips to hers.

She smiled into it but kissed him back. He held her face while he did so. They pulled apart and he kissed her again. She shook her head at him then dropped onto the couch. He sat beside her. She laid back, resting her head on the armrest with her legs across his lap. He held them.

“So tell me about the game?” She breathed.

“We lost, 3-1. Sam almost died because he tried to kill someone, I almost killed someone, Griffin almost killed someone. You know.” He shrugged.

“No, I don’t know. Was this a hockey game or a murderous rampage?” She mocked.

Michael took a dramatic deep breath. “Some guy winked at Audrey,” Danielle nodded. understanding now. “So Sam came on and nailed him, but it was clean. And then some guy came up and cross-checked Sam from behind, so Griffin scared that kid, and I fought some other kid that went at Griffin.”

“I heard you were hitting everyone in sight.” She teased.

“I was pretty aggressive.” He nodded.

“Wow, the one game I’m not at, you actually make a hit.” She growled.

His jaw dropped. “Wow, goodbye.” He spat, tossing her legs off his lap.

She smiled and reached for his arm as he walked by her. She pulled him down on top of her. He hovered above her. She just smiled up at him. He pressed his forehead to hers.

“I can be aggressive right now, if you want?” He smirked.

“And how do you plan to do that?” She taunted, wrapping her arms around his waist.

He sat up, pulling her up with him. He wrapped his arm around her neck, putting her in a headlock. “Like this.”

They started wrestling. Michael was letting her win, but she was so angry at him for putting her in a headlock. He called a truce and she huffed. He went to kiss her but she shoved him away.

“Two minute penalty. Don’t touch me until it’s up.” She hissed.

“For what?” He cried.

“Being an asshole.”
