Kaylynn was woken up to her phone buzzing. She clicked the lock button to silence it. It buzzed again. She ignored it. It buzzed five more times before she growled and sat up. She had two messages from the girls group chat and five from Sam. She checked his. He mentioned he had something important to tell her, then said her name three times, and then asked her to call him when she could.

She sighed, calling him. "This better be important, I'm trying to sleep off Mack not being here." She said when he answered.

"I was just calling you to let you know I'm coming back." He chuckled.

"For what?"

"For good."

"You didn't make the team?" She frowned.

"No, I'm too young for them. I'm not exactly complaining though. I missed home." He confessed.

"We missed you too, Sam." She smiled.

"We should definitely get together for a B-dubs night when I'm back." He added.

"God, please. Mack always challenges me to eating contests when we go." She laughed.

"So where's Mack?" He asked.

"A school orientation." She shrugged.

"Yeah, but what school did he pick?" Sam rolled his eyes.

"Alberta." She answered with a smile.

"He's going all the way to Alberta?" He gasped.

"Yeah, but it's the best university team in Canada right now, and they're offering him a full scholarship." She told him. Her phone beeped so she checked. It was Mack. "Speaking of him, he's calling me. I'll talk to you later."

"Yeah, sounds good!" He agreed.

"When are you back?"

"I'll be back for the graduation party." He grinned.

"Of course you will." She ended her call with Sam and switched to Mack's call. "Hi, Mackenzie."

"Hello, Kaylynn." He smiled. "How are you doing without me?"

"Haven't left your bed if I'm being honest." She flushed. "It smells like you."

"Everything in this place reminds me of you." He sighed.

"Why? Because my skin is oily like the oil rigs or some rude comment you'll make." She huffed.

"No, because this place is fucking beautiful!" He exclaimed. "I went to some lake and the water was literally the colour of your eyes. Being away from you is fucking me up."

"Mack, that was actually sweet." She cooed.

"I'm not a complete asshole. I can say cute shit." He told her.

"I know, it's just not normal for you." She scoffed.

He frowned. "It doesn't mean I don't think that. You're the most beautiful girl I know, Kay." He stated. "There's no one more important to me than you, besides my mom."

"You're the best, Mack." She sang. "Oh, Sam's coming back!"

Mack's demeanor changed. "Oh, yeah? Did you talk to him?"

"Yeah! He asked me to call him and then we made plans to go to Buffalo Wild Wings when he's back." She told her boyfriend.

"You're going to a restaurant with your ex boyfriend?" He questioned.

"He's my friend." She spat.

"He's still your ex, Kaylynn. You dated him." He hissed. "I don't know how I feel about that."

"He has a girlfriend and I have you. What's the problem?" She growled.

"His girlfriend looks exactly fucking like you! He is still in love with you! That's the fucking problem!" He yelled.

"Don't you dare fucking yell at me." She said through gritted teeth. "You don't get to raise your voice at me."

"I'm sorry. I just, I don't feel comfortable with you hanging out with him." He exhaled. "I don't want to lose you again, Kay."

"Then trust me! If I think I'm okay to hang out with Sam, let me. I wouldn't let anything happen." She promised.

"I'm sorry." He growled. "I just miss you and I'm losing my mind out here."

"Get used to it, baby. You're moving there sooner than you think." She frowned.

"I know." He breathed out.

Kaylynn wrapped up her conversation with Mack before she made her way to Audrey's house. All the girls were there. Kaylynn let herself in and went straight to the basement. She dropped onto the free couch without even looking around. She finally did and saw Audrey cuddled into her boyfriend.

"Can we do anything without a boyfriend being here ever?" She whined.

"I was just leaving but it's nice to see you too." Sam said as he stood up. "See you." He smiled, kissing Audrey.

Sam left and Audrey turned to Kaylynn. "Why are you being a bitch?" She questioned.

"Sam asked me to call him, my Sam, not your Sam,"

"Not really your Sam anymore." Holiday sang.

"Sam Bennett." Taylor piped up.

"Yeah, we talked for a bit and he's coming home and asked me to hang out and Mack asked me not to hang out with him and I," Kaylynn exhaled. "Why doesn't he trust me?"

"I wouldn't hang out with him, especially if Mack asked you not to." Audrey shrugged.

"Do you do everything Sam says?" Candice asked Audrey.

"No, but I wouldn't hang out with Brendan." Audrey crossed her arms. "It's a respect thing."

You still text Brendan." Kaylynn hissed.

"He texts her." Danielle intervened. "What's the point of arguing? We all clearly have different views on this. Let it be."

Audrey sighed. "I didn't mean you shouldn't hang out with him, Kaylynn. Sam just," She stopped herself.

"What, Audrey?" Kaylynn leaned forward.

"Sammy talked to him and he's just, he's not over you. His girlfriend looks exactly like you. There's just weird shit going on." Audrey huffed. "I think that's just what Mack's worried about."

"Look, I appreciate you guys looking out for myself and Mack, but I promise I wouldn't let Sam try anything. I want to be with Mack. I,"

"Finish your thought." Dani grinned at her.

Kaylynn rolled her eyes. "Fuck you guys."
