The Best is Yet to Come

Nicole's P.O.V.

After a month of living with Duper and playing in the NHL I decided I had enough money that I should probably move out and get my own apartment.

After about 1 week of looking at everything from town homes to studios to penthouses I settled on an apartment building that was pretty nice. And as it turned out a couple other guys on the team were living in the same building.

The apartment wasn't anything to big or spectacular it was just enough. How it was set up was as soon as you walk in and turn right you ran into a 1/2 bath and small closet. If you kept walking straight and went left there was a dining area that would probably remain empty for a long time. The to the right of that was the kitchen that had an island and a laundry room. Then next to the kitchen was the family room, the door next to the family room was the door that lead to both my bedroom, closet, bathroom, and guest bedroom. And another door that lead to the small balcony that had a breathtaking view of the rivers.

The night I had to move out of Dupers house was pretty hard. Pascal didn't mind he got enough of me at the rink, the kids were upset mostly Zoe though, her and I had really gotten close, and Carole-Lyne said she'd miss me, I honestly think she was going to miss the free child care.

I decide to have a little get together after I had moved in with the guys I had become the closest to, one of them being Olli.

The party mostly consisted of sitting around my TV playing XBOX, eating food, drinking beer, and talking about any and everything. But once the party had ended Olli and I were the only sober minds so in turn we had to clean up. Once all the plates and red solo cups had been thrown away we ended up talking while sitting on my balcony.

"You nervous?" He asked.

"About what?"

"The Flyers game coming up. I mean it's at home but it's the first one you're playing in." He said.

"Not really. It's just another game, it in all honesty I can't wait to be able to take a run at my least favorite player of all time, Scott Hartnell." I said rubbing my arms, maybe a tank top in November wasn't such a good idea.

"Ya." Olli said looking at me, "Are you cold? Do you want my jacket?"

"Sure. If you're ok without it." I said taking the Suomi jacket out of his hands and slipping it on over myself.

Olli's P.O.V.

Here I am sitting here with the most beautiful, and genuine girl I have ever met, on her balcony, talking about our favorite bands. I couldn't help but notice how fast my heart was racing. And when she leaned over and nuzzled her head into my shoulder it didn't help.

I couldn't take it anymore, I didn't care if this made things awkward between us I had to take the chance. I grabbed her left cheek with my hand and pressed my lips onto hers. It was the best kiss I've ever been apart of, her lips were soft and tasted like mint lipgloss.

After a few seconds though she pulled away with a scared look in her eyes.

"We can't do this. As much as I want to. Olli you're the first guy I've trusted in a long time but there are so many things that could go wrong." She finished.

"Nic, I know you're scared. That's why I want to be with you, so I can try my hardest not to cause you anymore pain. And ya lots of things can go wrong but you're tough and I like to think I am too, I bet we could get through most things." I responded.

"Okay. But as long as I get to keep this hoodie. It's really comfy." She said smiling.
