Forever Chicago
Ch. 12
Patrick’s POV:
I didn’t want to be mad at Jess. I just couldn’t believe she slept with one of my teammates.
My little sister, how did she get so old?
I knocked on her bedroom door, “Jess?”
I opened the door to see Jess sitting cross legged on the bed, hugging a pillow to her chest.
“Jess?” I said.
“Yeah.” She said wiping a tear off her cheek.
“Jess, I’m sorry for freaking out. It’s just,” I stuttered, “It’s just your my little sister.”
“I’m not so little anymore Patrick.” She said.
“I know, it’s just, I’ll always think of you that way. And I think you can do way better than Saader.” I said.
She laughed, “He’s sweet.”
“Yeah, yeah okay, just please don’t hookup with any more of my teammates? Okay?” I said.
“Deal.” She smiled, as I gave her a hug.
…
The next day Patrick’s sisters flew back to New York, Patrick immediately sped off to Paige’s leaving Jonathan and I alone together, finally.
“Hi.” Jonathan smiled as we sat on the couch together.
My legs swung over his body and his arms fell around me.
“Hi.” I said nuzzling myneck into his.
“So,” he said nervously, “my parents want to visit.”
“That’s great.” I said.
I had met Jonathan’s parents several times before; they were really sweet people, and a lot like Jonathan.
“Not really,” he said.
“Jonathan!” I laughed, playfully hitting his chest.
“Ow!” he laughed “It’s the playoffs!” he smiled.
“They want to support you. I think its cute.” I said, “When are they coming?”
“Um, tomorrow.” He said.
My eyes widened as I looked around the apartment, the corner was filled with trash bags from napkins and plates littered the floor. Patrick was a fun roommate, but not a clean one at all.
“We should clean up then.” I said looking around.
“Yeah probably.” He laughed opening his eyes to the mess that surrounded us.
We scrubbed until the apartment shined. I spread new sheets across the guest room bed, and our apartment was once again ready for visitors.
…
“Kodie!” Jonathan’s mother said as she pulled me into a hug, “It’s so good to see you again.”
“You to!” I said, as I hugged Jonathan’s mother and dad, as they came into the apartment,
“You both look great.”
Unfortunately I was on my way to work preventing me from hanging out with Jonathan’s
parents while he attended morning skate. I would meet up with them at the game later.
“Good luck.” I said kissing him as left.
Jonathan’s POV:
I was left to hang out with my parents all day.
“So,” my Mom said as we sat in the living room, “You’ve been with Kodie for almost 2 years now.”
“Yeah.” I said.
“Yeahhh.” My mom said.
“What are you saying?” I asked.
“Cut to the chase are you proposing or not?” My Dad said reading through the paper.
“I’m just waiting for the right time.” I said.
“So you are?” my mom said.
“Sooner rather than later.” I said.
She shrieked with excitement.
Kodie’s POV:
I walked into work to see Riley and Jeannie sitting at the front desk.
“Morning.” Jeannie said as I walked in, Riley looked upset.
“Hi.” I said, setting my bag down, and taking my usual spot “hey you okay?” I turned to Riley.
“Yeah.” She said, “Just been feeling kind of gross lately.”
“Really?” I asked.
“Yeah just nauseous and tired, it’s weird, no fever though.” She said.
“You don’t think you’re pregnant?” I said.
“No,” she said, “I mean, I don’t think so.”
“Riley,” I looked at her, “You should take a test.”
She hesitated at first, “I guess so.”
I handed Riley a pregnancy test from the drawer, and she headed to the bathroom.
…
Ten minutes later Riley protruded from the bathroom, smirking.
“Kodie,” she said, “I’m pregnant.”
My eyes widened, “Oh my God,” I said, “I mean are, are you happy?”
“Yes.” She smiled confusedly, “I mean, maybe I shouldn’t be, but I really am.”
“Riley this is amazing! How are you gonna tell Ben.” I said.
“I don’t know.” She said, “What if he’s mad?”
“He won’t be, believe me, I’m so happy for you.” I said standing up to hug her.
Riley’s POV:
I couldn’t believe it. I was pregnant. As I walked towards the apartment I shared with Paige and Ben, my head raced with nervous thoughts of how Ben would react. What if he wasn’t happy?
“Hey gorgeous.” Ben said kissing me as I walked through the door.
“Hey.” I said, “I gotta tell you something.”
“What is it babe?” he said.
“You might want to sit down.” I said.
“Is everything okay?” he said concernedly as we sat down on the couch.
“Ben,” I said, “I’m pregnant.”
“What?” his eyes got wide.
A huge smile spread across his face as he picked me by my waist.
“That’s amazing!” he said spinning me around.
“I love you.” He said kissing me.
This was perfect.
…
Kodie’s POV:
I was thrilled for Riley, it made me think about my future with Jonathan. My phone buzzed soon after Riley had left with a smiling picture of her and Ben. I was so thrilled for them.
Around four I left work to go home and get ready for the game. Jonathan’s parents were already gone by the time I arrived.
I quickly showered and changed into a pair of leggings, riding boots, and Toews t shirt.
Grabbing my bag I headed for the United Center.
“Kodie!” Jonathan’s mother waved me over from one side of the press box.
“Hi!” I said, hugging her hello and sitting next to her.
“How was work?” she said sweetly.
“It was good,” I smiled, “We weren’t very busy.”
We watched as the puck dropped.
“So you two have been together about 2 years now.” She said, “Are you happy?”
“The happiest I’ve ever been.” I smiled.
“Aw that’s great to here, Jonathan sure is.” She smiled.
…
Jonthan’s parents packed for home the next day.
“It was great to see you again.” Jonathan’s mother said, hugging me goodbye.
Jonathan closed the door behind them.
“Thank God.” Jonathan said as he pulled me into a kiss, as I laughed.
We laid entwined in bed together that night.
“So Riley’s pregnant.” I said as he entangled my smaller hand in his much larger one.
“No way.” He looked shocked, “Nice one Saader.”
I laughed, “We’re still agreeing on four children right?”
“Sounds good to me.” He said.
…
The next day I met up with Riley at a coffee house, near her apartment.
“Hey!” she said as we met up.
“Okay,” she said pulling magazines out of her purse as we sipped on coffees, “so since the guys are going into the playoffs, and they’ll be all over the place for the next few months, will you be my partner in crime with all this baby stuff?” she asked.
“Of course!” I said as we began flipping through names.
“Okay my first doctor’s appointment is Monday, and the guys will be in St. Louis so will you come with me to find out the sex?” she said.
“Absolutely, what do you think they are?” I said.
“I don’t know,” she said, “Maybe a girl.”
We flipped through endless baby magazines.
“Oh how’s Paige by the way?” I said sipping coffee.
“I have no idea,” Riley laughed, “her and Patrick are constantly just hanging out in her room or walking in the park, I’ve barely seen her in months.”
“Patrick’s never home.” I said.
We sat flipping through books of furniture, nurseries, and names, before I had to get home.
“Call me anytime.” I said, as I left the coffee house.
“Thanks for everything.” She smiled.
…
I walked into our apartment to see Jonathan sitting in the living room.
“Hi.” I said kissing him hello.
“Come here.” He smiled leading me from the front door to the living room, hands over my eyes.
“What’s going on?” I laughed.
“I have a surprise for you.” He said. Jonathan released his hands over my eyes, to reveal a border collie puppy perched on the living room floor, a big green bow around his neck.
“Oh my God!” I shrieked sitting down on the floor to pick him up, “Where did you find him?”
“Well the guys at the pet shop were gonna put him down and, I know you don’t like to be here alone, with the playoffs coming up and stuff.” He said sitting next to me.
“Thank you.” I smiled kissing him, as the dog sat between my legs.
“Of course.” He smiled.
“Does he have a name?” I said cuddling him into my arms.
“Not yet.” Jonathan said, “What should it be?”
“He kind of looks like an Ollie.” I said.
“That’s cute.” Jonathan said, “Ollie.” Patting his little head.
