Melody gets ready to head to the court house. Her stomach is all in knots cuz she’s going to have to relive the horror from that night. Thankfully she has her sister and Leslie there to support her. They’re trying to comfort her before the trial starts. She’s shaking and crying.

Leslie - Come on hon it’ll be ok.
Elyse - Leslie’s right Mel everything is going to be ok.
Melody - No it’s not. When I go in there I’m going to have to relive that night.
Elyse - Sweetie, if you don’t Ian will get away with what he did to you and will do it to other girls.
Melody - And I don’t want anyone to go through that. (Sighs) I wish James was here. He’d make everything ok.
Leslie - Aww, I know you do.
Elyse - Aww, my little sis is in love.

They go into the court room. Melody is retelling the events of that horrible right. She’s crying as she’s telling everyone what happened to her. The judge says he’s heard enough and will call everyone back when he has a ruling. Elyse and Leslie take Melody home. They tell her to go lay down. Melody lays down on her bed. She falls asleep a short time later. Elyse and Leslie start talking in the living about what to do about Melody being terrified.

Leslie - What are we going to do? She’s down right terrified being in this apartment.
Elyse - I think it’s for the best that she comes back to Montréal with me. She needs her family right now.
Leslie - You’re right she does. What she really needs is James with her but I’m afraid she’s going to scared of being around a guy now.
Elyse - Yes, being around him would help her but you’re right she’s going to be scared of men now. She had a very sweet boyfriend at home before she moved to the states for school. I’m going to call him and see if he’ll be willing to help me take care of Mel.
Leslie - If they’re still friends I’m sure he would.

Elyse grabs her phone and calls Christian hoping he’s there.

Christian - Elyse, this is a surprise.
Elyse - I’m sorry to bother you but we have a very big problem.
Christian - What’s wrong? Is Mel ok?
Elyse - A week ago she was raped by her new boyfriend. She is really scared now.
Christian - Oh my god that’s awful. If I need to come down I will. She shouldn’t be alone.
Elyse - She’s coming back with me to Montreal.
Christian - I would be glad to help you take care of her.
Elyse - Really? You will?
Christian - Of course I will. I never stopped loving your sister. I had to let her go cuz her education is important.
Elyse - If you’re around her just be gentle with her. She’s going to be scared to be around guys now.
Christian - I would never hurt her. I hope she leaves her boyfriend and finds someone who will respect her. She deserves to be happy.
Elyse - I know you would never hurt her. I do think she’s very interested in someone.
Christian - Yes I know. Did you forget I’m friends with James?
Elyse - That’s right you are. If you talk to James tell him that Mel’s sister says thank you for looking after her.
Christian - You bet I will cuz he’s been worried about her.
Elyse - I’m going to go check on Mel. I will talk to you when we come home.
Christian - Ok, tell Mel that I’m sorry for what happened and that I love her.
Elyse - I sure will.
Christian - Take care

They hang up. Elyse goes into Melody’s to check on her. She sees that Melody is trembling in her sleep. She sits on the bed beside Melody. Melody wakes up all panicky and her heart is racing.

Elyse - You ok?
Melody - I was having flashbacks from that night.
Elyse - How about you come back to Montreal with me?
Melody - I think that’s a good idea. I can’t stay here.
Elyse - I called Christian and he is willing to help me take care of you.
Melody - That’s really sweet. Did he say anything else?
Elyse - That he still loves you.
Melody - He was always so good to me.
Elyse - And don’t worry Ian won’t hurt you anymore. There’s no way the judge will side with him.
Melody - I hope you’re right.
Elyse - (Gives Melody a hug) I know I’m right. Why don’t Leslie and I take you out tonight?
Melody - I would like that.

Just then Leslie comes into the bedroom to see if Melody is ok.

Leslie - Hey, you ok hon?
Melody - I didn’t sleep very good.
Leslie - You look like hell. Are you hungry at all?
Melody - Yes, I’m starving.
Elyse - Then lets go.

The girls go out to dinner. They find a table to sit at. They order food and start talking as they’re talking. Elyse and Leslie see Melody shaking and looking scared. They see Ian coming towards their table. Elyse tells Leslie to get Melody out of there. Leslie takes Melody out of the restaurant. Elyse then deals with Ian.

Ian - Where’s your sister?
Elyse - You have some nerve asking about her after what you did to her.
Ian - I didn’t do anything to her.
Elyse - Like hell you did. You raped her.
Ian - I did no such thing. She wanted it.
Elyse - She didn’t want to have sex with you. Do you have any idea what this has done to her?
Ian - She never told me to stop. I don’t care about her feelings since she went out and had sex with another guy.
Elyse - Can you blame her? You haven’t been the best boyfriend lately. Unlike you James had the heart to come check on her to see she was ok even though they aren’t together. She told me she was begging for you to stop. She was in the hospital for two days cuz she was in so much pain.
Ian - How the hell can sex hurt? She’s not a virgin.
Elyse - Cuz you were being aggressive. Women can’t just jump right into sex. We need to be warmed up first.
Ian - Then why wasn’t she crying when she was having sex with someone else?
Elyse - Cuz James was being gentle with her.
Ian - So why was she being so pathetic by crying when see saw me?
Elyse - Are you stupid? You raped my sister. She is traumatized by what happened. She was taking a nap and woke up in a panic. She was having flashbacks of you hurting her. She may never trust a man ever again. So she may never find a guy to settle down with and have a family with. So I hope you’re happy you pathetic piece of crap.

Elyse slaps Ian and then leaves to find Leslie and Melody. Elyse finds a small store and buys some ingredients for her and Melody’s favorite chocolate milkshake that they use to eat as kids. She finds Leslie and Melody. They head to the hotel where Elyse and Leslie are staying so Ian doesn’t find them. Elyse mixes up two milkshakes for her and Melody. She comes over to the bed and hands Melody a glass, spoon, and straw. She sits next to her. They start eating their milkshakes.

Melody - Thank you for getting me out of there.
Elyse - I won’t let that scumbag hurt you again.
Melody - Thank you both of you for being here for me.
Elyse - We wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
Leslie - That’s right hon. You need a support group.
Elyse - When you’re done with your milkshake you should try and get some sleep.
Melody - I think I will.

Melody finishes her milkshake. She puts the glass on the nightstand and goes right to sleep. In the middle of the night she’s having a night terror and starts crying in her sleep. She’s heard saying in her sleep, “James!! Please help meee!!” She wakes up. She takes one of her sleeping pills and then goes back to sleep until morning. A couple days pass and the judge is ready to make a ruling.

Judge - I’m ready to make my ruling and I side with the defendant.
Melody - What? Why?
Judge - There isn’t enough evidence to convict.
Melody - (Starts crying and runs out of the court room visibly upset)

Elyse and Leslie go after her. They find her sitting on a bench crying.

Elyse - I can’t believe that stupid judge sided with that scum.
Leslie - It’s not right
Melody - I was so stupid to think anyone would believe me.
Leslie - You’re not stupid. You know you were raped and that’s what matters.
Elyse - Come on lets get out of here.

The girls leave and head back to Melody’s apartment. Elyse helps Melody pack so they can leave for Montreal. Leslie heads back to Pittsburgh and tells Melody to call her anytime. Elyse and Melody finishing packing. They head to airport and fly to Montreal. They get to Elyse’s house. She tells Melody she can put her things in the guest room. Melody finally feels safe getting out of Raleigh until a few weeks later when she starts feeling very sick. Elyse takes her to the doctor to find out what’s wrong. Elyse has her suspicions that her little sister is pregnant.
