James has left for morning practice. Melody has put Deter in the play pen in the living room while she is down stairs heating his morning bottle. She goes out to the living and scoops him up. She sits down in the rocking chair and starts gently rocking the chair as she feeds Deter. He falls asleep. She sets up the portable crib and gently sets Deter down inside it. She then curls up on the couch and dozes off for a few minutes when she hears a knock at the door. She is very surprised that it’s Ian. She lets him in.

Melody - What are you doing here?
Ian - I know you hate me but I just wanted to meet my son.
Melody - Come on he’s in the living room.

Melody leads Ian into the living room so he can meet Deter for the first time.

Ian - You know this little boy looks more like your husband then he does me.
Melody - There’s a reason for that and you should sit down. Please don’t hate me more then you already do.
Ian - I promise won’t hurt you again.
Melody - The truth is Deter is really my husband James’s son.
Ian - He is?
Melody - Yes and I’m sorry for lying to you for all this time. I always assumed he was yours cuz I didn’t start having pregnancy symptoms until after well you know.
Ian - And I’m truly sorry for treating you so horribly then.
Melody - Wow, you sure have changed since the last time I saw you.
Ian - I’ve been getting help for my anger and drinking.
Melody - I’m happy to hear that. What made you want to change?
Ian - It was a few days after you wanted me to give up the rights to your son. It felt like I lost everything. So the next day I started going to meetings.
Melody - I’m glad you decided to get help and maybe one day you’ll find a girl who will date you.
Ian - I don’t think that will ever happen.
Melody - Sure it will.
Ian - I doubt that.
Melody - I have single friend that you’ve never met. Her name is Kate. I can set you up with her.
Ian - Why are you being so nice to me?
Melody - I know it wasn’t your fault you acted the way you did when we were dating. You didn’t ask for an alcoholic mother and an abusive father.
Ian - That’s why I fell for you. You never judged me or my crappy family. I should never have treated you so poorly. You didn’t deserve that and I’m truly sorry Mel.
Melody - I forgive you.
Ian - And I’m glad you found a man who truly loves you.
Melody - Do you mean that?
Ian - Of course I do. Your cell phone is ringing.
Melody - I guess it is.

Melody answers her phone. She gets a little nervous cuz it’s James.

James - Hey baby. Just wanted to tell you that I’m on my way home.
Melody - Ok, I was just about to take Deter back up stairs for his nap.
James - Ok, I’ll see you soon.

James and Melody hang up.

Melody - You should go. I don’t want you hear when James gets home.
Ian - Right, I’m just going to go and thank you for listening.
Melody - You’re welcome.

Ian leaves before James comes home from practice. Melody grabs Deter and takes him up stairs for his afternoon nap. James then comes home. He goes up stairs. He goes into Deter’s nursery and sneaks up behind Melody. He smiles when he wraps his arms around her. He starts kissing and nuzzling her neck.

James - I love you baby.
Melody - I love you too.
James - Come on lets go cuddle on our bed.
Melody - That sounds nice.

James and Melody go into their bedroom. They lay down on the bed. James grabs Melody and pulls her close to him. Melody lays her head on James’s shoulder and goes right to sleep. James wraps his arm around her and is asleep a short time later until later that night. It's now the next morning.
